    AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on TH-cam are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

    Thanks so much for your detailed video on Gros Ventre Campground. We watched the video and we made a reservation for June for three nights. We have watched your videos even before there was a TH-cam. We still have your videos, and consider them to be historical collectibles. Thank you so much for your time and energy.

    We got in the last three days of the season last year, big surprise to us when I checked the day before. Looking at your location looks very close to where we were. The weather was awful, cold, sleet and snow the last day as we packed up. But we had a good time anyway. We have spent a lot of time in YNP and Grand Tetons the last three years and plan on more this year.. Didn't get to se a Moose but we almost saw one one the river...

    Weirdly enough, we’re about two weeks into planning our first trip to Badlands, Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
    We’ve quickly realized that we’re way behind and basically know nothing about the area. It’s fairly overwhelming. This video was outstanding and super informative ! Thank you.

      We're leaving S. TX on the 15th, embarking on the exact same trip. We're looking forward to seeing these places for the first (and probably the last) time at 66 yrs of age. We're FTers who boondock almost exclusively, so if you like to boondock, we might run into one another, as we plan on spending most of the year in the SD/WY area before heading to Q for the winter. We should arrive at The Wall overlooking the badlands Apr. 23rd. and plan on staying there for a couple weeks before heading off to the Mt. Rushmore area. We're hard to miss as we have a National Tropical MH pulling a bright yellow Chevy Cobalt, with a solar array mounted on the side, shading the bedroom window.

    I was so happy to meet you at Gros Ventre in 2021. You’re the reason I made the trip to the Tetons. Thought it was pretty funny, I was the dork from Ohio wearing my Gros Ventre T-Shirt. Felt like such a LOLOHO groupie. Had a wonderful time! Meeting you both, the moose, aspen trees & The Grand Tetons….doesn’t get any better. 😁

    The wife and I go there quite often (usually 3 out of four years). It’s a wonder we have never ran into each other. We will be there twice this season once in early June and again in late July. I have been going there since I was a small child, (I’m 68 now) so to say I have seen changes is an understatement. One aspect you didn’t mention, is that it is a wonderful place if you’re a birder. We have seen several dozen species of birds there. Everything from eagles and osprey to hummingbirds proliferate the area.

    I LOVE this campground so much!! We stayed here in 99B last September for 5 days. It was quite roomy for our 31' foot motorhome and towed truck. Unfortunately, as we were busily packing up on our last day, we missed a bull moose walking behind our spot. I was so bummed. We used our generator once so I could brew a K-cup (not worth it, just brew it in the Moka pot) otherwise, we were on solar the entire time. Someone even lost (and found) their cat! Such wonderful memories. I cannot wait to go back again. Tetons have my heart. C'mon people! Pick up after yourselves! I do not recall the dump station reservation, I think maybe they asked when we were leaving, but it didn't seem a big deal to me. Of course, I was waiting in the tow vehicle in the overflow parking (near the amphitheater). It is definitely a clunky area at least when we were filling up our fresh water upon arrival (it was quite backed up since that's what everyone wanted to do).

    Really love the Tetons and Gros Ventre . Really gets busy when the moose are active. Thanks for the update on the new reservation details. As always popular camp grounds are busy, but I still like the old method even though the park was full and I had to find another quiet spot to spend some quality time. Sorry, I’m not telling where it is but a good backup plan if needed. I like boondocking if I don’t get chased out. Great video on the park.

    Thank you for your videos! We went to Gros Ventre last summer on your recommendation and loved it! So much so that we left Yellowstone earlier than planned and came back to Gros Ventre for an additional 5 days. And this year we return again for several days between Glacier and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
    There is a trail/path from Loop A to the river that we walked every day and really enjoyed. I would add that even though I am a very mature (aka OLD) man, I was so moved by my first view of the Grand Tetons last year that I had tears in my eyes. It was comparable to my first view of the Matterhorn! Again, thank you both for your efforts in making your videos that led my wife and I to the Grand Tetons and Gros Ventre!

    I believe generators are supposed to comply to a decibel limit. Perhaps some reinforcement is warranted 😊

    I first stayed there on your recommendation. I stay there every time I visit now. I've always stayed in Loop F and never seen a moose. This fall I have reservations in Loop A to see if that changes my moose luck. One hike to the river I found a carcass that was fully consumed with only the bones left intact. So please be careful in the woods. For anyone that uses T-Mobile, I watched a Sunday nite NFL game on my phone and had a 5G connection. I first watched a portion a LOLOHO meetup you held in Jackson but the Cowboys-Eagles game was on so I had to watch it. I'm from Dallas. You need to be aware of the competitive shows, even if you do have Kristy as your sidekick. Standard issue wife!? I don't know what to say to you.

    • @LongLongHoneymoon
      @LongLongHoneymoon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha ha I am sorry about the standard issue comment. I quickly change my tune. As for the moose, there have been some years when we could not step out of our door, without bumping into one, and other years, when we never saw one. They are truly unpredictable, but I hope they always have a comfortable home in that area.

    After watching your videos, we checked out Gros Ventre in 2014. The generators were AWFUL -- I wish the campground had shorter generator hours! We ended up leaving a few days early. When we return to the area, we will make sure to get an electric site or a generator-free site. Noise pollution is real! Thanks for a great video!

    • @LongLongHoneymoon
      @LongLongHoneymoon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Overall, we have had great experiences in the generator loops. However, there have been a few occasions when the open frame generators have been terrible and spoiled a few evenings. So I wanted to make people aware of the issue. In recent years, there have been more, portable inverter generators that are reasonably quiet. So hopefully people will choose the better generators, and use some common courtesy when running them.

    Great information, as usual. Thank you, Sean and Kristy. 🙏 33:05 mark: I know we've all been conditioned into believing we live on a spinning-ball planet but I encourage everyone to question that false narrative. We live on a level and motionless plane with the sun, moon, and stars revolving around us. It's a beautiful created realm--not some rock hurling through the "universe" at ridiculous speeds and directions. All of that still, calm lake water is only possible on a flat and level Earth. 😉🥞

    Thanks for all the information. We stayed there the last season of first come first serve sites, their method was efficient and amazing but if you weren’t in line before 7am your chances were slim. I get the need to do it all on line after seeing the hoops the staff had to jump through.
    Can you give more details on how you get “dump reservations”, please? Do you sign up at the office? How far out do they stay booked up? Any chance of being able to dump on your arrival as we may be arriving after a few days of boon-docking? Are you limited on dump reservations when you are staying multiple days? Any enlightenment will help with prior planning and realistic expectations for managing our water usage. Thanks.

    A trick or hack to charge your house batteries when generators aren't allowed is to use jumper cables from your tow vehicle. Your truck is quiet, legal and it doesn't take long. I've done it many times without any problems.

      Many of those fire pits have a grill attached to them that you can fold down over the pit. Frankly, I would not want to grill anything on it, and I have never seen anyone grill anything on it, but it makes for a good platform to set your solo stove.😂

    Really disappointed they went to all reservation only. Most years I spend 2 months or more in the Jackson area and Gros Venture was always my home base. I would come and go with no planning ahead and never had a problem getting a campsite, but no more. I don't want to plan months ahead for a campsite. I only wish they would designate about 30% of the campground as FF.

    • @LongLongHoneymoon
      @LongLongHoneymoon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree. Requiring reservations certainly does not fit with the way we like to travel, and as others have pointed out, that place is a burden on some elderly people who are not Internet savvy. It’s also unfortunate for locals in the Jackson area because they can no longer easily pop over to Gros Ventre on the spur of the moment.

      The lengths are in each spot’s description. You can usually go four foot longer then what it says as you can back over the parking bumps. I put my 35 foot in a 32 foot spot. Just look at the picture of the site and make sure the bear box is off to the side and not at the back.
