I go a bit rogue!!!! I’ve been enjoying creating abstract art from gel prints recently.
I thought I’d try some expressionism with gestural brush strokes.
I used 3 acrylic paints: ultramarine blue, lemon yellow and cadmium red deep hue.
I used a variety of brushes, a silicon wedge colour shaper, brayer and a gel plate.
I used 300 gsm cold press watercolour paper and white acrylic paint to pull the print.
    I hope you enjoy.

Hi Kirsten! I made an abstract along with you and drank a lot of tea as I woke up (it's early here in Vancouver, BC).

Hi Apple, sorry my reply is so late. I drink tea excessively (and coffee) but I love it, I always have.
I was gonna call this a follow along video as it felt that way. I’m so happy we did it together!!!

Hi Kirsten 🥰 I had to find out, what you mean by going "rogue". But your results speak for themselves 🤣. I love your playful experiments, even when the colors go a bit muddy - like our weather in Bavaria today - not quite sundayly. I just like to know, if you declare your pieces "done", or if you plan to go over them to give them more sort of "definition" (if that is the right word 😇) Please go on to be playful, rogue, wild, reckless - or whatever you feel right for you next. 😘 Yours, Britta

Hi Britta dear, I’m sorry my reply is so late. “Going rogue” is probably a bit Scottish actually 😂. Off the path, not following procedure.
I’m definitely going over these ones. Some of them are like finished pictures to me and I think going over them would lose the printed look.
I do think I’m in a bit of a phase where I’m using the gel plate to create starting points…whereas previously I viewed them as full pictures.
I think it’s all part of the learning curve and not necessarily the way it is now.
I’ve entered 2 pure gel prints into a Scottish exhibition, I find out next month if they’re selected 😱🫣
I hope you had a wonderful weekend Britta, and be assured our weather was just as bad as yours 🤣❤️🥰❤️🥰

Hi bilbob, I’m sorry I’m so late to reply. I had a bit of an issue. I’m really glad you liked this. It wasn’t a popular video due to the style I think. I do find this type of art hard to read but I think trying it out was helpful. I tried to look at it using elements of art. This picture actually looked good in black and white, it had more depth and value contrast.
But it’s all a learning curve and I’m enjoying trying abstract art.
I hope you had a fantastic day with pieces you were happy with made!!! 😁
