What’s the point in Wildcarding now when you have missed all the price rises, Mark? My team has already gone up by £1.0M since I hit the WC on Sunday. If you’re going to use the WC chip, use it early, especially when there’s an international break, so you catch a full fortnight of price rises.
Good team Joe that covers the short term and also longer term as much as possible. Especially with Mbeumo on the bench for their amazing fixtures coming up. I too have no Haaland (wildcarded last week) but have a plan to get him back for GW7
I like the idea but you are wildcarding then immediately booking in transfers down the line. Also sods law as soon as u get rid of Salah he will haul it always happens with this constant choppong and changing

Can't agree with the analysis at all, seems misguided to me. Arsenal fixtures are tough on GW4 and 5, turn good on GW6,7,8, then starting GW9 it's tough again for 3 GW. Yet the strategy is to focus on getting Arsenal players in and out of the team. Meanwhile, making a presumptuous narrative to say having Salah and Haaland will limit the budget to get other players and not getting both of them even their fixtures are better than Saka will bite you back. I predict this team will still fall behind Salah + Haaland team come GW10.
It felt necessary for me when I had the fantastic quartet of Barco, Quansah, Solanke, and Nkunku. Didn’t feel like I had a choice with player prices rising that I wanted to get and then my players prices falling at the same time. I have 2 free transfers though so hopefully I won’t use a transfer GW4 so then I will have 3. I honestly just needed to put out fires I couldn’t predict. I’m fine with it.

I am being marginally tempted by the GW6 fixture swing and the fact I can carry multiple tranfers through....but generally its prudent to use your first WC in December and GW6 is far too early. The rule changes have steered people away from a balanced consideration of "Do I need to Wildcard?"
A nice analysis of why Wilcard GW4 is a mistake and completely unviable. You need Liverpool, but you'll have to ditch them, you want Arsenal but not until later. You want Brighton for 2 weeks, but then they have to become Brentford. You're almost forced into a Salah-Haaland situation, which over burdens you with enablers, but you know you need Saka in two weeks. Not to mention, if you feel like you need to WC now, you're probably not carrying transfers through to do any of these things later. The fixture swings are so clean and defined in GW6. GW4 WC is bad bad bad.
Lol. Why would you have to ditch great fpl assets who are fixture proof. Gw4 wildcard isn't a mistake. Loads of folks got their first drafts very wrong and need to correct it, if a wildcard is what helps then it's a viable strategy. Gw4 wildcard also allows one to build up 2 to 3 free transfers to address fixture swing in gw6. I mean there aren't even any glaring fixture swings in 6 cos arsenal's is just for 2 gws cos their gw 7 to 8 fixtures are tough on paper. Mbeumo can be gotten in with a single transfer and city have great fixtures from gw7 onwards but the bulk of managers already have city assets. So I don't know what you are on about.
This is a very rubbish team joe. Abysmal would be putting it kindly. I don't understand the obsession with having money in the bank its there doing absolutely nothing and it's fpl naivety to remove the best fpl assets in the game from time to time. They might blank once in a while but out of 38gws they will probably do so only like 6 times compared to other fpl assets people jump on and off on.
Worth noting that I was very clear that a good way for those who don't like to keep money in the bank is to use it to upgrade a mid to Palmer. That would be better for you. But its good that you highlight the flaws in GW 4 WC and why I'm keen on a GW 6 WC and not a GW 4 WC for these very reasons. You have to navigate an important fixture swing in 6/7 with great fixtures for other teams 4/5 while ensuring you can get Saka, Salah and Haaland easily when you want them in a game with only a fixed budget to spend where you can't have them all. Some would argue it is naive to think you can get all the best assets at the right time when you want them. You can't. You have to jump on and off them from time to time. But if you have a plan to have Salah, Saka, Haaland in your team for 38 gameweeks and have a credible other 12 players at all times then I'm very interested.
A very well considered Wildcard draft, Joe, and food for thought for someone who currently has both Salah and Håland.

Exactly. This is why I always WC in Int’l breaks. You never know when that extra 0.1 or 0.2m will make the difference later on

I think so too, which is why I favour a GW 6 wc. I'd only use GW 4 if I really had to due to international injuries.
