This movie was based off a broadway musical.. the guy who was playing Evan was Ben platt. He was the original role of Evan on broadway and he reprise his role in the movie because nobody could of portrayed even better than him.. this is a great storyline but very deep

This musical hits your heart and means more to me personally than any other musical. It speaks to the soul, and Ben Platt is like no other actor/singer I've ever seen. He won a Tony and a Grammy and an Emmy for this. He is a miracle. I'll probably watch this movie a lot of times.
Long time DEH fan here... okay well... like two years, I didn't eat in to theatre until like two years ago so ya lol but still it's my favorite musical
Such a powerful show and message! Broadway show that won several Tony awards. Breaks your heart and makes your soul sing all at the same time! The music is amazing.

I agree like most I am familiar with the Broadway it happens to be one of my favs and it's nice to see a raw reaction to the storyline
