    Seborrheic Dermatitis. After years of using Cloderm Cream (steroid) on my face I was doing some work for a very nice lady that worked for a dermatologist, she told me to “Never use steroid cream on your face, it thins out your skin” she told me something I thought was crazy, she told me to wash my face with Head and Shoulders shampoo and also to go on line and order Aquanil Lotion with 1% Hydrocortisone, I did and now I have No more redness, no more flakes, no itching, finally relief after all these years! I hope it works for others out there suffering with Seborrheic Dermatitis, god bless!

      That's great advice. Some complexions are too sensitive to use a shampoo on the face, which is why I created Calming Zinc Soap www.drbaileyskincare.com/calming-zinc-bar-soap The Aquanil has a cortisone. It is a mild one but still a cortisone. Here is a post I wrote about cortisone and facial use www.drbaileyskincare.com/info/blog/how-long-is-it-safe-to-use-cortisone-on-the-face To help people avoid that I have Green Tea Cream and it is paired with Calming Zinc in my Redness Relief Kit www.drbaileyskincare.com/facial-redness-relief-kit-paraben-free-resveratrol

    What I've noticed over the years, hormones play a huge role in the flare ups I get. Stress, getting sick, lack of water intake, weather changes and so much more. I try to keep my stress level down. Maintaining a good diet, with little to no sugary products. Can't do much bout the hormones..unless I look to hormone replacements (nope)! Keeping ur face clean (don't over do it) and keeping a great moisture on hand is a must. Head & Shoulders is also a cheaper way to go, if you don't have the $$$ to see a dermatologist. It's important...drink lots of water!!!

    • @DrBaileySkinCare
      @DrBaileySkinCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree Bree. Stress, high sugar diet, getting sick etc are all pro-inflammatory and that will drive an inflammatory condition such as this. You are right, the hormones are a wild card. They control so many aspects of our physiology. Thanks for watching!

    I found your video informative and helpful. I am currently experiencing "Beardruff" on my face. Having a beard, I have found that my facial skin become dry and flaky, and before I know it I am dropping flakes of skin all over my shirts. I at the moment am avoiding harsh beard washes, and beard oils. I am exfoliating my face with water, and using a facial moisturizer, however I am still experiencing "Beardruff" flakes. I will check out your link and look for the products you recommend. I have also just made an appointment with my Dermatologist. Thanks again.

    Ok, so I know everyone is different but I’ll let you know what has worked wonders for me. Riboflavin, which I get from eating eggs every day. I suffered from sebhoerric dermatitis for as long as I can remember. If I didn’t shave every day my skin would get flaky, eyebrows, below my nose and under my mouth and sometimes to such an extent that it would form a pus. This would last a couple of weeks and then mysteriously go away. But it always came back. But not anymore. Someone told me I might be deficient in Riboflavin and hey presto I’m eating eggs everyday and no more sebhoerric dermatitis. I’ve even grown a beard, no red rawness anymore. Hope this helps someone.

    Why is this condition so behind in new treatments when so many people suffer.
    I must ask is it actually caused by an overproduction in sebum which provides a food source for an overgrowth of micro-organisms to further irritate the skin?
    Also since the condition is part of the dermatitis family is it possible that the new biological medication recently available(dupilumab) could possibly work as a treatment in treating seb-derm symptoms, i understand it would be "off-label" but what is your opinion? Thank you for the video

      Does this stuff happen randomly out of nowhere? Mine started when I was like 25. For literally like no reason. And I went to the dermatologist and he basically just said yes you have dandruff of the face. What? Luckily it hasn’t gotten worse but Yeah it’s all over my chin and mustache and thankfully it’s only mild on my eyebrows and it’s only sometimes. But you can bet if I scratch my face, the flakes come. I’m really glad it hasn’t gotten any worse but it does suck. I just really want to know the cause

    I’ve been to a couple dermatologists and still no actual diagnosis. I was left hanging by the last dr. They said they’d call me back with a “game plan” and that was a little over a year ago. I know it’s difficult to determine what rashes are but shouldn’t a biopsy of the skin help? I’ve had 2 done. So I continue to search for possibilities.😢

      I am sorry you are not getting a diagnosis or followup that is actionable from your derms. In my practice I send biopsies to UCSF dermatopathologists because I believe that the biopsy is only as good as the pathologist and they are tops. I had tried everything for a long time, at first it started under my lip like on my chin area, it looked like dark, dry, and I had dead dry skin falling off..then after applying things I thought would help.. my skin got red and with acne and it spread to my whole face :(..I had and still have a little bit of like fungal acne type for a long time till now.. but my mom brought me a cream called GELMICIN, it’s a cream from Mexico that has Clotrimazol, Betametasona, and gentamicin, and after only 4 days of using it in the morning and at night... it’s almost gone!!! My acne is drying up!, my face feels really smooth, the redness is going away, and I don’t have any more dry skin falling off my face!! Nothing worked before but this amazing cream did. You should try it! I found out that it has different names but just look for those ingredients combined together, there’s another one just like it called BARMICIL. Ebay has them too some times. I hope I can help someone.

    I am a guy who wet shaves his face, and I have this dermatitis around and between the eyebrows, each side of the nose, behind each ear and, under my nose (moustache area) and chin. Shaving over those latter two areas is a problem and I have experimented with different shaving soaps and shaving creams. I have been using a badger hair brush, and wonder if that isn’t helping. I have ordered a synthetic brush to try instead. My Doctor has prescribed a cream called ‘Nizarol’ which helps with itching, flaking and redness. Can you suggest best wet shaving practice, shaving creams or shaving soap to help too please.

    My 1 month old has seborrheic dermatitis based on what the doctor said. She has red rashes all over her face, back of her neck, and stops around her chest area. There are times it looks better but out of nowhere it would flare up and I have no idea what causes it. Her doctor prescribed hydrocortisone only for 3 days and use cetaphil gentle wash and moisturizer. Is there other products and ways to keep the flare up to stop. Or just help her in general?

    I been getting a rash on my face on and off for a few yrs now just lateral to nose and on forehead. It's ruining me , it seems to have got worse over last 6 months and more frequent in flare up. I have suffered from dandruff however I notice it leaves a inflamed redness around hair line now ;which is itchy .... I'll try head and shoulders to face and also start using it on hair again . The sauna aswell as I'm sure that took it away last time

It will really help you.! It’s a cream from Mexico. Nothing had helped me till my my mom brought this to me the other day.

    hello! whenever i wash my face with anything or even with just water, the red spots starts to occur on different places of face and then vanishes itself after 15 minutes.

    • @DrBaileySkinCare
      @DrBaileySkinCare  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Talha, I can't give specific advice or opinion regarding a diagnosis. I can tell you that there is a general increased skin circulation through skin capillaries when skin is warmed - such as with warm or hot water. That will create a hyperemia (redness due to blood flow) that is transient. See if you think that might help explain what you are seeing on your skin. Thanks for watching.

    Shortly after last year summer I noticed a horrible flare up of a rash like patches coming from the edges of my scalp and it itched like crazy! I've had it on my forehead, my brows, still have it around my mouth. but the worst is the nape of my neck and behind my ear. At first I thought it was Tinea versicolor but that was no it. Now I'm hearing from my sister that it may be eczema or this Seborrheic Dermatitis. I'm thinking it may be one of the two considering the fact that I took olive oil, coconut oil, and boiled garlic in this oil. then I mixed tea tree and Eucalyptus in this and tumeric and this has not only stopped the itching but has caused the rash to slowly disappear. it still itches but it does not look at all the same way it did before I started to treat it. if it was Tinea it definetly would have gotten worse...

      Hello, it is a naturally saponified soap and they are always alkaline. The bar is hand made and runs from pH of 7.5 to 8.5, most commonly testing at 8. Excess alkali is removed as part of the final soap making process.

    • @dromanov4267
      @dromanov4267 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      duvvakula ealisha I did read that hiv can make you have really bad seb derm, because it compromises the immune system. I don't think your doctor actually believes that you have hiv if you only went to them about your seb derm. It's more than likely only precautionary and because the doctor knows hiv, because it compromises the immune system, can cause seb derm they wanted to test for it. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it, but let us know how it goes?
      I've probably over explained but hopefully that's given you all the info you need?

    • @jjes2573
      @jjes2573 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didi Dana...thank u so much for ur response......i was scared too much....i am relieved a bit....i will get it tested.....is hiv still a death sentence....

    • @dromanov4267
      @dromanov4267 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      duvvakula ealisha No, hiv definitely isn't a death sentence anymore. People who have hiv nowadays live the same lifespan as everyone else and live a relatively normal life. I hear people with hiv just take lot of medication each day and take some precautions such as making sure not to share shaving razors (which most people don't but it's not hygienic), going for regular check ups and always using condoms and informing potential sexual partners beforehand. So basically kind of what most people do every day to be honest.
      But of course Hiv is worse cause scenario and isn't worth thinking about in too much detail unless your results come back positive. In which case, I'm sure your doctor will be very helpful and there's a ton of online community's you can join to talk to other people with hiv. But like I said, most people just get seb derm without any underlying illnesses like hiv and I'm sure your doctor is just making sure you don't have hiv to give you the best treatment.
      Hopefully that has eased your worries a bit? I know you won't be fully relaxed until you get your results back, but that will take about 7 days so it won't be that long until you can feel relived! :)

    • @maryseling6204
      @maryseling6204 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely false!!!!!! People without HIV live average 25% longer (based on national avg) and it's HORRIBLY EXPENSIVE TO KEEP HEALTHY!!!!!!! No health insurance covers HIV medicinal care. HIV lowers t cell count so you will constantly be sick, flu like symptoms come n go.....lots not sugar coat this shit, HIV WILL NOT KILL YOU.....YOU DIE OF COMOLICATIONS DUE TO THE DISEASE. SUCH AS: liver failer, pneumonia, heart disease, kidney failure etc...HIV will kill u one way or the other.

    She messed up when she recommended oils on the face.. it makes sebbhoreic dermatitis worse
    Mineral, MCT and petroleum based oils do not irritate sebbhoreic dermatitis

    Can you cure that like 100%?????

    • @DrBaileySkinCare
      @DrBaileySkinCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I wish! No, it is not curable, but it can be controlled. That means that most of the time, it behaves and the seborrhea is not visible or symptomatic. There will still be times when it manages to get through even the most diligent anti-seborrhea skin care. Thanks for watching!

      @@DrBaileySkinCare Why is that? How does it manage to get through through several rigorous treatments?

    • @DrBaileySkinCare
      @DrBaileySkinCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RzVids We don't know why it happens, what causes it and why we can't cure it. We have pieces of the puzzle but not the entire puzzle. My hunch (note 'hunch') is that the problem is also more than skin deep. Many of my patients find their seb derm gets worse with stress, pro-inflammatory diets (high glycemic and junk foods), gluten etc. I think there is a deeper piece of the puzzle we are missing. Great question and thanks for watching!
