Thanks Joey for all your work on getting to the bottom of the problems experienced with this. Just a bit of understanding from both parties is all that's required to sort out most problems (and a bit of tech knowhow!) I can conform that both switches are still working perfectly and that all the controllers are also working well. Thanks for your understanding and being nice about my attempts at fixing the thing, I just don't have the eyes for this sort of thing anymore - I need a microscope camera like yours! Thanks everyone for your kind comments too - I am indeed a lovely guy! 😉

hey bud i noticed your original switch is quite scratched up. While i don't know of an easy to way to fix a scratched up screen i can recommend a great way to keep it safe. Glass screen protectors are readily available on amazon for under $10 and as an added bonus using the touch screen when its glass is far more satisfying than using a plastic touchscreen like the in the case of the switch.

Yeah, I sell games on ebay and i've already had plenty of people trying to tell me that the games i've tested thouroughly wasn't working, but it seems i can ward them off by trying to press them for details by listing what could be going wrong. I broke my original switch trying to put on the atomic purple shell and joycon cases. Never again. My hands are not made for this type of work. It was 3 days before I was traveling by plane. Went and bought an oled. Maybe some day I'll try to get it fixed. I know I probably put screws back in the wrong places and definitely broke the ribbon cable that detects when a joycon is attached for handheld mode. Live and learn. You make it look so easy. I wish there were more guys like you willing to repair consoles. So many consoles now get what seem like small issues, but us average folks either lack the knowledge or tools (skill is gained), to fix them. Like I could take it apart but things like replacing the chip.. I don't have a solder, or tools, or knowledge of soldering. I can't tell you how much money I must have blown buying replacement consoles or controllers because of small things like stick drift, or overheating issues due to a fan not working right (and I can tell it just needs a new fan but idk how to replace that...). Repair shops charge 150 usd or more, don't guarantee a fix, and often, won't actually address the issue ... Shame. For that I may as well buy a new console tbh. Stress and all that.

If only fixing iPhones were as easy. Because you can have two brand new identical make and model iPhone that you take out of the box at the same time, take and switch the motherboards around and the iPhones won't work properly anymore. You will get error messages on both phones saying that they need to be serviced by Apple. But if you swap them back to where they were, then all issues are gone. So Apple has gone and given each motherboard the same serial number as the phone and if they don't match then the phone won't work. Thank god Nintendo didn't do the same with their Switch.
