The first 4 tracks of this album are perfection . . . Far beyond what most Metal bands achieve in their entire career. The perfect blend of heavy and catchy. Vinnie's double-bass drum work on Becoming is insanely masterful. Then you have Slaughtered which has to be one of the most brutal metal tracks ever recorded yet somehow it is still groovy. As you get to the deeper cuts, it never lets up. Some of the most epic guitar work comes in Throes of Rejection . . . Dammit, Dimebag was a metal god, on par with his idol, EVH.
It was 1994, I consumed this album and still listen to it often. Dark and heavy like no other Pantera album. And then that really emotional cover of Planet Caravan 🤘💀🤘
Honestly, listening to this album now in 2023 in high quality monitors and excellent headphones, it seems very futuristic and current, a sound that goes beyond metal, a difficult concept to decipher even if it seems all explicit. Magnificent. Pantera have always been something more than they first seemed
They are crazy groovy in ways that no other rock or metal band seems to be. I don't even know how to root this sound, which is not surprising given that I lack basic terms to begin describing it. Unique in so many ways. - The founder of Dynamo Festival Eindhoven released a number of live recordings from over the years. Pantera were his top favourite of them all. He described the band as "one tight beast" which is cool wording. A beast. Yes. Btw, I was present at the gig, and remember Dimebag playing a solo while his roadie lifted a bottle of bourbon to his mouth ... he may have been a little less tight afterwards, but I'm not sure :)
@@persiflo1 It's interesting the stuff at Dynamo festival. In '98 i saw them at 'god's of metal' in Milan, the same year of the famous Dynamo concert. Destroying stuff, even if Phil was absolutely drunk, killer stuff, monstrous sounds and ferocious performance, only beaten by scary Pantera in '2000's...
This was my first Pantera album, and by far my favorite. I've gone back from 1983 and to 2003, and love it all, but man oh man can I listen to this album on repeat forever.

The best uncompromising album ever. The lyrics are almost like musical satire - as good as Gilbert & Sullivan. But because they're seen from the underside of southern white trash they're uncompromising and brutal. Phil's lyrics are nuanced - screaming hatred and indignation refined to spoken word in the same couplet.

It doesn't matter what nationality you are. It doesn't matter what your views on life are. One thing is important, we are all fucking fans of the greatest metal band in the history of Pantera
Hail kings a new king, STRONGER THEN ALL. Pantera changed my whole perception on music. There was before hearing Pantera, and then after hearing Pantera. 2 totally different worlds
The school bus, 6th grade. My girlfriend let me borrow her brothers CD. The opening track changed me, forever! I had never heard anything like that! Down into beherit, gorguts, severe torture... It all started with a walk man, a rural route and strength beyond strength!!! 🤯
I love this album, it still sounds powerful and crushing, I love the experimentation in some songs. I bought it on cassette and CD in mid-1994 and still have them. How did time pass so quickly? This record turns 30 years today, March 22, 2024.
Can't believe it has already been 18 years man... I will always regret not going to see Pantera live the one chance I had as a kid. But we all know Dime and Vinny are still kicking ass and bringing the house down in Valhalla. Rock on Brothers and Sisters!
saw them in Stuttgart/Germany it was agressive and wild and f.....g loud. Insane. Never will forget. Sorry for you Bro you never had the chance to see them live
I heard an advance/promo copy of this album before I went to Boot Camp. The anticipation of buying the tape, a walkman, and batteries got me through. The bliss of hearing it beginning to end, the night before Becoming a Marine, is INCOMPARABLE.
'Shedding Skin' is such an overlooked track...one of my all-time favorite Pantera songs!! 'Throes of Rejection' is another song that would've been awesome to see live back in the day (Dime's lead is so intense and intricate on that one...and really stands out to me).
When I was a 16, my brother brought home this album on tape. For whatever reason it was at the end of side A so in went side B. Slaughtered. One heavy song! I had not heard Pantera before, but I was hooked right then and there. I've searched, but no other band has come close ever since. RIP Dime & Vinnie, stronger than all.
Seen these guys 3 times at small venues back in the '90s. You've heard of "runner's high"? I had " Moshers high". Mind you, this was in the Bay Area, THE birthplace of Thrash Metal. Needless to say, they fucking destroyed all. RIP Dime. "Come getchya pull!!!"

The school bus, 6th grade. My girlfriend let me borrow her brothers CD. The opening track changed me, forever! I had never heard anything like that! Down into beherit, gorguts, severe torture... It all started with a walk man, a rural route and strength beyond strength!!! 🤯
Gorguts rules
That’s a great fucking story. 🤘
@@purplehaze4178 I musta been hammered. I don't normally leave comments like that 😅
Son of a gun.. Your a baaaaad duuude maaan!
Cowboys hit me the same way in school. I'm a little older
This album came out my senior year and it STILL gives me fucking chills! STRONGER THAN ALL after all these years!
Oh boy, we were teenagers just yesterday🎶🎶💪💪💪😎
I love this album, it still sounds powerful and crushing, I love the experimentation in some songs. I bought it on cassette and CD in mid-1994 and still have them. How did time pass so quickly? This record turns 30 years today, March 22, 2024.
Can't believe it has already been 18 years man... I will always regret not going to see Pantera live the one chance I had as a kid. But we all know Dime and Vinny are still kicking ass and bringing the house down in Valhalla. Rock on Brothers and Sisters!
you mean 28
@@brunopadovan2822 I think he was referring to Darrell's untimely death in early December 2004.
saw them in Stuttgart/Germany it was agressive and wild and f.....g loud. Insane. Never will forget. Sorry for you Bro you never had the chance to see them live
I saw them with White Zombie and the Deftones Nov 8 1995. My mother took me, I was 12 lol.
Valhalla doesn't exist, but okay.
STRONGER THAN ALL

Holy hell Shedding Skin is so heavy
after all the music I've heard over the years, that riff is nuts
I heard an advance/promo copy of this album before I went to Boot Camp.
The anticipation of buying the tape, a walkman, and batteries got me through.
The bliss of hearing it beginning to end, the night before Becoming a Marine, is INCOMPARABLE.
I miss these guys I still have tears for the Mighty Pantera Metal Masters! The conserts the albums.
I've never heard this video before. Thank God I just listened to the FBD CD in my car this morning.
Forever Stronger Than All
Let’s get it on!!! 5 minutes alone!!! Bring it on!!!
Listening to this album years after living this scene is pure therapy. R.I P. Vince and Dime❤
'Shedding Skin' is such an overlooked track...one of my all-time favorite Pantera songs!! 'Throes of Rejection' is another song that would've been awesome to see live back in the day (Dime's lead is so intense and intricate on that one...and really stands out to me).
Yep. 25 Years too. Fuckin bangers.
@@jamescooper-hope6930 Yeah man!! Love that song!!
Shedding Skin CFH
SHEDDING SKIN is indeed amazing, very spacey.
How could anyone dislike Pantera?
Metallica fans
@@FrancisNull I'm a Metallica fan.

STRONGER THAN ALL !!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼
