      Special Band. Beasts. Worked and worked but the hard work starts after you make it huge. Metal is supposed to represent freedom (its anything but) lol. PANTERA are a very special band. They really loved it. Feel it in the tunes. STRONGER THAN ALL! (Just saw them with Z and C at download) very special.

      Generally, I am not a fan of metal. I prefer punk and classic rock. Bought this shit on cassette for like 5 bucks in like 1997. That first song hit so hard, I was hooked. Great album. Vulgar Display of Power on equal footing. If it were all this good, I would love metal.

    • @theotherdave514
      @theotherdave514 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Elijah Boyd Thankfully I've never even heard of any of those besides Linkin Park...who I definitely agree...I don't even think about groups like that BECAUSE they're so corporate. Although lately I give Linkin a pass on a lot of my past judgment because of what C.B. was trying to bring light to at the end of his road. But, yeah, I concede a bit of my point....but STILL...compared to Pantera, SOAD sounds like Greenday to me...😆

    I recently got hearing aids.I'm 47 yrs old and I remember when cowboys came out and I liked it but because of my hearing being bad I couldn't hear the instruments clearly. I am now able to everything clearly and it's like hearing these albums for the first time and I'm loving it!! Probably driving my family crazy because I been listening every day for a year now!! Plus I play guitar and now I'm able to play Dimes riffs and it's truly made me a much better player and I been playing since I was 16. Thank God for Dime and Vinnie, such a tragic loss!! God bless all pantera fans!! I love u all,each of you are brothers and sisters in Metal!!

    The first 4 tracks of this album are perfection . . . Far beyond what most Metal bands achieve in their entire career. The perfect blend of heavy and catchy. Vinnie's double-bass drum work on Becoming is insanely masterful. Then you have Slaughtered which has to be one of the most brutal metal tracks ever recorded yet somehow it is still groovy. As you get to the deeper cuts, it never lets up. Some of the most epic guitar work comes in Throes of Rejection . . . Dammit, Dimebag was a metal god, on par with his idol, EVH.

    Honestly, listening to this album now in 2023 in high quality monitors and excellent headphones, it seems very futuristic and current, a sound that goes beyond metal, a difficult concept to decipher even if it seems all explicit. Magnificent. Pantera have always been something more than they first seemed

      They are crazy groovy in ways that no other rock or metal band seems to be. I don't even know how to root this sound, which is not surprising given that I lack basic terms to begin describing it. Unique in so many ways. - The founder of Dynamo Festival Eindhoven released a number of live recordings from over the years. Pantera were his top favourite of them all. He described the band as "one tight beast" which is cool wording. A beast. Yes. Btw, I was present at the gig, and remember Dimebag playing a solo while his roadie lifted a bottle of bourbon to his mouth ... he may have been a little less tight afterwards, but I'm not sure :)

      @@persiflo1 It's interesting the stuff at Dynamo festival. In '98 i saw them at 'god's of metal' in Milan, the same year of the famous Dynamo concert. Destroying stuff, even if Phil was absolutely drunk, killer stuff, monstrous sounds and ferocious performance, only beaten by scary Pantera in '2000's...

    The production on this record is so f****** sweet. I love the snare drum I know it sounds similar but there's some frequency between 800 and 12 I feel they died in that just gave it such a low meaty pop that drives the songs along even more brutal. The best uncompromising album ever. The lyrics are almost like musical satire - as good as Gilbert & Sullivan. But because they're seen from the underside of southern white trash they're uncompromising and brutal. Phil's lyrics are nuanced - screaming hatred and indignation refined to spoken word in the same couplet.
