That was a mighty close bout. Zhang is a southpaw nightmare and Parker did well to bounce back from a couple of very difficult moments and maintain his work rate.

Zhang should've won the fight. I had him winning 5 rds with two of the rds being scored 10-8. Parker showed alot of heart and skill. Zhang did gas out towards the end but he landed the harder shots and did enough to secure the win.. I would've been ok with a draw. Either way Zhang deserves an immediate rematch
In rd 12. Zhang corner "go for knock out, I dun trust the judges". They knew too well that so long as JP standing at the end of the round he got the.round. Zhang landed more clean shot and did more damage.

But he started losing the fight in round 10 to round 12. Parker's pace was to fast for him, his hands got tired and couldn't throw much punches. You'd see his guards dropped towards the end of the championship rounds. That emphasizes tired hands

Zhang's defense is impeccable. Parker's jabs hit his gloves and elbows. Zhang landed cleaner and heavier punches. Plain as day this is robbery.
Look at Zhang's face at 11:57. He took a lot of hits. He also took much more hits on his body. He delivered some significant strikes of course, but if he can't TKO, he won't win after being battered like this.
Both Zhang and especially noganou made the mistake of coming in heavy.

Parker also landed clean & heavy punches however he was generally much more active than Zhang even though many of his punches were blocked by Zhang. It was a fair enough decision but a case can certainly be made for the fight being scored a draw not however for Zhang deserving the decision because he was tentative & did not throw enough punches.

I don't know how they gave the decision to Parker when he was down two times & didn't even hurt Zhang. He only threw more punches than Zhang. Should be a draw.
A case can be made for a draw but not for Zhang winning. Zhang simply did not throw enough punches & was more tentative than Parker. Parker was much more active although many of his punches didn’t land. I scored the fight 114-112 for Parker but I couldn’t argue with anybody scoring it a draw, however Zhang certainly did not deserve the decision.
Zhang should have capitalized on the 3rd round knockout. He basically gave away the fight

First of all, I don't think judges fairly follow official boxing rules to score points. Otherwise, it shouldn't be so many controversial and complaining because boxing fans also know the rules. The second, boxing rules itself gives judges a lot of room imposing their biases. Therefore , forsaking boxing sports , riding off judges ' ruling is good option. If no knocking out within 12 rounds, go to dual. For example, Parker punching zhang, zhang can only stand straight, defending with his gloves, can't moving and returning punching, same rule applying to Parker. In the dual, winner will be easily determined without judges' biases because no judges involved.

Vargas and Zhang disappeared after round 6, Vargas kinda, did stuff over here over there after R6 but officially had two downs (Probably they weren't really downs but they were scored as downs), but the case for Zhang come on, he landed 0 punches in round 12, rounds 11 and 10 were barely better than that, probably his last good round was 7, in 8 he just barely got the down but was another round he was loosing.
Ball was brawling, pulling, elbowing, headbutting, and the downs were sus to say the least, one was a pull into a punch while he was already falling from the pull and the other one he tripped with his feet Vargas after landing a punch, dude pulled and elbowed like this was UFC, should have had at least two points down but it looks like there was no ref in that fight.
Parker not only had two downs, he only landed 101 punches during the whole fight, that's like 8-9 per round, many rounds like round 7 for example could have easily gone for Zhang, he was lucky they didn't.

When I was growing up through 80’s 90’s guys were saying them eras were shit and comparing to the 70’s. Although Parker threw more punches than Zhang, most of his punches just landed on Zhang ' defensive gloves. Those punches shouldn't win any points. A few punches landing on Zhang ' face are not very hard and didn't cause any damage.
The work rate, the number of punches thrown even if it landed on the guard they do damage and slip in a lot, body shots, clean shots, it just outdone Zhangs 2 knockdowns which was pretty much all it was besides some jabs

Even if they land on the gloves, punches landing on the gloves are a lot better than no punches landing at all - which is what happened. Zhang just barely threw anything in the last 4 rounds.

Regardless if a lot were blocked by gloves, still more landed than Xhamg even threw in the majority of the rounds if not all. Compubox does not lie, the video doesn't lie, 2 knockdowns don't mean shit if you're going to be heavily inactive throughout the entire fight bar them two highlights, he got fairly outpointed, so that's why he lost, so how you think it's a disgrace is beyond me, a lot of Zhangs busiest rounds were also glove blocks, and he wasn't busy in any of them really. Look at how many body shots Parker landed throughout the fight also, nearly every single one landed, you're missing lots of details to be a creditable critic.

Xhang was out of breath in the second half, not as sharp and nowhere near as active, where as Parker was in control for the duration bar being knocked down in round that he was winning in anyway.
