  • A short and simple video on the transmission service on this 727. Draining the fluid, installing a new filter, torquing the pan to 12.5 ft*lb's, and filling up with 4 Quarts of Valvoline ATF. Questions/comments/concerns please put below!

Thanks for the video. Would you recommend gasket cement or not?

      Probably not

It only took that much fluid because you did not drain the torque converter, the radiator reservoir tank, and "if so equipped" the transmission cooler. With that much debris present in the pan, magnet, and filter, the fluid change should have been more thorough.

i wanted to know for my raptor 660r 2005 i am adjusting the valves the 2 on the right are the exhaust valves and the one on the left is intake right?

The 3 towards the rear of the engine are the intake valves, the 2 exhaust valves are behind the tappet covers on the front of the engine

The correct way to check fluid level is after it's brought up yo operating temperature set parking brake and drop transmission in nutarel with engine running if u check it in park it will either show full or over full if u check it in nutarel IT will show low ever time by anywhere from half a quart to a quart

So, only 3 quarts came out of mine, and i put 4 in thinking itd be the same amount. I could only measure it after i put the old fluid in the jug. The dipstick is showing about an inch or 2 over full... im at a loss here. Do i drain the excess fluid or just start it?

I feel like it'd be fine to start it because the fluid hasn't gone through the transmission/torque converter to take up the excess fluid. Id start it up and go through the gears slowly, let it warm up then check it while running

@@Hunters_Mechanics yep. Well, i ended up removing some fluid, (bout half a quart,) and i drove it around a bit. Kickdown Linkage was givin me issues though, had to adjust that a bit. Checked it while idling in neutral, it was good. Coolant did spray out of the overdfill hose though... probably a stuck thermostat.

Please call it by its name a 727. Pronounced 7, 27.

That doesn't help your transmission as much as you think because it doesn't clean the valve body or the direct drive drum or the forward drum or even the Torque converter. It needs to be flushed by a machine and thats the only way to truly clean the transmission
