can anyone give me advice? i just finished rebuilding my bottom end on 660 all oem parts i bought used cp carrillo 12:5:1 compression cylinder and piston but my question is would my oem crank support it or should i try and drop some compression i am running stage 1 hot cams but head is stock or i should buy oem cylinder as im from europe parts are very hard to come by and super expenssive with shipping ect all i find is 686 sets locally but i heard bad things about them i do want the engine to last
I blew up the top end of my raptor 660 and just ordered the niche cylinder, head and wiseco piston kit. Some of these comments got me worried I waste my money. Just wondering. Have you had any issues with it. I know the video is kind of old, but still love watching them
@rhettgoodwin9218 I'm still running mine! Not sure if I got lucky or other people didn't know what they were doing 🤷♂️ I'll eventually put a 686 kit back in it but for now, my Niche kit works perfectly fine lol
I did record most of mine when I got my new one and then school got in the way so I just put it together so I could ride 😂 ill have to take it out again sometime and make sure to finish the video
@@Hunters_Mechanics please do your videos have helped me a lot. I have a extended swing arm and axel I want to install but I don't know how to do any of that lol
@@timrogers9440 I'm glad to hear that! Been looking for more videos to produce, my 4 wheeler has been running great (knock on wood!) And shit hasn't broke for a while so I'm running out of ideas 😂 ill see if I get time soon for that, currently have a few tutorials of my truck in the making then back to Raptor content
@@Hunters_Mechanics whenever you put a few heat cycles on those junk chinese cylinders the sleeve drops. There's no head gasket in the world that will seal when that happens. The reason you have so many hours on yours is because you had your cylinder deck height shaved down to match the cylinder sleeve height. Despite doing that, after awhile it may continue to drop even further. So you're basically playing Russian Roulette with your engine😂.
That sleeve can only go down so far. They press into a grove in the cylinder. If one moves downward it’s because it wasn’t pressed in far enough to start with. All cylinders are made this way. I all ways heat them up to around 350 degrees in an oven and make sure they are pressed in all the way fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.. lol 😂.. So any cylinder I buy I check this first before I build an engine as why I make that 85 bucks an hr building them. I’ve used 100’s of these cheap cylinders on top end rebuilds. Only ever had a few problems and it was before I started heating them and throwing them in my press and making sure they were seated properly.. Good luck hope it helps..
Rancher 350 with niche cylinder and piston, OEM head. Either the Niche cylinder bore is to big, or the piston is to small, had tons of piston slap. I bought the rancher with the cylinder already on it, its now tore apart on my bench.
I checked my piston and cylinder gap before I even put mine together, along with the rings because I didn't trust it lol surprisingly enough mine was in spec
@@Hunters_Mechanics For sure, they also broke a bolt off in the case among other things, I think what I am going to try for now is see how a Wiseco piston fits in the niche cylinder. All the OEM cylinders on ebay need to be bored out.
There pistons are good but there crankshafts are garbage. Have one right now with less than 5hrs on it and the ristpin bushing is bad. Everything in the engine was new oil pump and bearings and seals. Should have just spent the money and put a stock assembly in it..
Was just gonna order the niche kit. But now am gonna think about it a little bit more. Thank you 🙏
Finally a video
Question. What jets are you running for the 686 kit in the carbs?

how did you get the exhaust manifold to fit???
@@J.V.CommercialServices mine just fit? Are you using the stock manifold?
I need help whit my raptor 660 I put the time but no work
What size jets are you running I just got the same big Bore and I’m have if problems jetting if
The jets im running do not have a stamp mark anywhere on them so I have no clue what size they are 😒

Sounds like you had a better experience than me, my sleeve slipped
Seems to be a common issue at this point according to my other videos. Other than cheap manufacturing, I have no clue what causes them to drop

I had this kit and the wrist pin failed and shot the piston through my head and 7000 rpm
Did you have your brown pants on that day when it did? Lol
