    I LOVE this rule set. No stupid wins by advantages or getting a sweep and stalling. Nice work, 10th Planet!

    • @AbsoluteADCC
      @AbsoluteADCC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The rule set is fun, but there’s plenty of stalling here by gassed opponents who already got a win.
      Just like there’s plenty of stalling in EBI rules to get to overtime.
      All rules are great until the game is figured out and people start playing the game.
      IBJJF rule set encourages action and was fun as well until people started playing the game.
      That’s why you see tens of different rule sets out right now. They all get boring once figured out.

    My favorite is 27 minutes into the video. The guy gets his lip tucked into opponent's arm while he was defending. Mad props and true Jiu-Jitero warrior spirit for the guy that was bleeding. He could have tapped to prevent more injury and blood but he doesn't give up. He made his opponents work. Shows alot about him.

  • @nosho409
    @nosho409 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    8:32 If you get fully picked up when applying a triangle, you got to let go. I've always wanted to see this ruleset applied to grappling comps. Slamming is too dangerous, but learning to grapple when slamming is never a factor is also ridiculous in a fighting context. Best of both worlds. Hook the leg, avoid the reset.

    • @aplus1080
      @aplus1080 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ever see Geo slam Donkeyboy at ADCC? F'ing brutal.

    • @bobbymccullough3210
      @bobbymccullough3210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a dumb rule. Getting slammed doesn't mean you lose the triangle. There's so many videos of this happening. I understand that it seems dumb both ways, but it's a jiu-jitsu tournament, not a MMA tournament. Default to a BJJ bias. Let the triangle happen, and move to MMA if you want to slam.

    • @nosho409
      @nosho409 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bobbymccullough3210 Nonsense. If someone can pick you all the way up, only luck or thick mats can save you from serious damage. BJJ is meant to be effective in 1 on 1 unarmed combat, no matter how much the IBJJF has tried to change that. If you allow slam, you'll injure too many people. If you treat slams the way the IBJJF does, you still injure some people, create ridiculous DQ situations, and don't incentivize people to hook the leg early to avoid getting picked up.

    • @bobbymccullough3210
      @bobbymccullough3210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nosho409 I disagree with that. I'll also still point out the inherent ridiculousness of disincentivizing TRIANGLES in a BJJ tournament. You know, one of the top 3 highest percentage subs in the game. Should we outlaw RNC's as well since your opponent could bite your arm? Or armbars because your opponent can elbow your genitals? That's a no from me dawg.

    • @nosho409
      @nosho409 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@bobbymccullough3210 It doesn't disincentivize going for triangles, it just incentivizes good techniques and habits. Just hook the damn leg when going for a triangle from the bottom... It prevents the slam, makes posturing up tougher for the opponent, and will help you get the proper angle to finish the triangle. Just watch Khabib avoid getting slammed by Gaethje: he hooked the leg.

    what was that sweep at 52:23 ?

    • @StanleyPinchak
      @StanleyPinchak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it is a named sweep and the closest I can think of is a bit of a cross between a shin-on-shin situp guard sweep and a butterfly guard sumi gaeshi. But I think it may just have been a spur of the moment off balancing.
      It looked like Tolu was thinking of setting up x-guard or maybe single leg x (52:20), but at nearly the same time, Anthony recognizes this and tried to backstep / windshield wiper to pass(52:22). Tolu was able to use his grip on the planted ankle and a little bump with his right leg, which by this time was in a modified knee shield / butterfly type position, to unbalance Anthony(52:22). I can't tell from this angle what Tolu's right hand and arm were doing and if they provided additional torque to roll Anthony, or if they were in a defensive shielding position. As Tolu inverts, he already has the classic straight ankle grip and begins to pummel his legs looking to secure ashi garami / SLX. Anthony stays heavy on the captured leg and blocks the attack until Tolu's coach / teammate tells him to stand up instead. Tolu posts with his right arm on Anthony's shoulder and his left for support on the floor and switches his hips (almost like a technical standup) to come up on top and complete the sweep.
