So, I think with the way culture is going there's a moderate chance that big dogs will make a comeback. I'm seeing people wear it more and more now days. The big graphic ones with strong statements probably won't make as big of a comeback but their buttons ups and more simple tees with the logo will. Cheers Nate, this was a great video.
I actually never heard of this brand and didn’t know it’s history but I just liked it bc they’re so much in thrift stores and it just looks so 90s/00s and rn ig that’s the trend? So I can see it come back
2,000 percent especially when companies like REI going woke and no longer focuses on camping and outdoor gear the next generation doesn't shop there now.
I was trying to explain these shirts to some younger people at work and they all looked at me like I was crazy. This brand was huge (pun intended) in the south. Nostalgia trip
Digging the content man. Echoing another comment I saw, watching your content I would've sworn you'd have a lot to binge with how well done it was. Stoked to see what's next. While I highly doubt it was as big a trend, the Big Johnson line of shirts/apparel were the funniest thing my dumb 8 year old brain had seen up until that point. Doubt it would be enough for a topic, but I love seeing who remembers them lol
Thank you for the kind words. I actually don’t remember that brand, I’ve just read about them online. All that stuff really makes me miss the 90’s edgy shirts
Man oh man I remember big dog in elementary school (I’d say from 00-03) every Fourth kid had a big dog shirt or something big dog, And the parody shirts were the most popular ones I still remember everyone loving the Star Wars one.
Lol, I had forgotten about this brand! All of my friends dads would wear Big dog. This brand reminds me of super fat unhappy 40 something dads in the mid 2000’s. It’s good to have insite into this brand i remember but never knew anything about! Love the videos, hopefully you can dig up more obscure brands I vaguely remember!
This video was great! Loved all the background info. I remember always wanting a Big Dog shirt and I would look at all their shirts in the window of the store in my local mall. My mom wouldn't let me get one, though. Or a No Rules shirt, does anybody remember those?
I remember always going to Big Dog whenever my family went to any outlet mall. I really liked them (but you know...were talking late 90s-REAL early 2000s). But literally while I was in bed last night they just popped up in my head, so I decided to see what happened to them 😅
I remember Big Dog they were big in California in the 1990’s. You often saw someone with Ocean Pacific shorts and a Big Dog tshirt. They were cool I’d wear their stuff today if I could find it. They were big when I attended college in San Diego in the 1990’s. People will still buy due to nostalgia but I don’t see them getting big again as there are just a ton more brands nowadays and the funny graphic tshirt trend is over. The 1990’s were fun times more funny tshirts, more colorful clothes.
I actually visited a Big Dogs outlet store on the reg when I was growing up. My mom loved outlet shopping, and I was always tagging along. They were a presence, that's for sure.
I specifically remember picking out a shirt as a child that was a parody of South Park but it was called "South Bark" and all of the characters had the faces of the Big Dog Mascot and it said something like "Oh My Dog, They Killed Kenny" or something like that. I got it from a store that only sold "Big Dog" items. I also had the shirt that you showed here that said the "porch" phrase. I specifically had that shirt and when I saw it it flooded me with nostalgia for something I hadn't heard about since a child. I completely forgot about this brand and this is the first person I've heard talk about it. Thanks for bringing back those old memories
I remember seeing some of those shirts that had character's replaced with the dog. Specifically two versions, one with the main characters from the original pokemon season, and another one with spider man (Specifically based on the first sam raimi movie poster)
I definitely remember this brand from the 90s and I’m definitely going to the last Big Dog store in the next week or two. Now that I know it’s the last one!
I definitely remember owning Big Dogs T-shirts and shorts as a kid in the 90s. It was part of the “sportswear trifecta”: Big Dogs, No Fear and Gecko Hawaii.
i found your channel because of this video and im enjoying the content very much!!! i have to admit when i fist saw the logo it triggered almost a ptsd like response and i clicked the video immediately LMAO! i have also started asking everyone hey you remember big dog??? most everyone under 25 has no idea what i’m talking about.
I absolutely remember this brand. I had the "do I look like a freaking people person to you" shirt. I was trying to people to leave me alone and it was counter productive since people like the shirt. Elder Millennials and older absolutely remember this brand. It's funny that younger folks absolutely do not.
I wore big dog and echo religiously when I was I elementary school lol. I remember being so excited to go the outlets in my hometown to go to big dog and echo
We had a big dog store in the outlet in my town so we got to see it quite a bit it. To me it felt like it was very on par with like the big Johnson shirts that were also popular at the time and then they just kind of disappeared. Of course it will come around again and then everyone will love it.
Big Dog was definitely the "dad shirt" brand and most kids I saw wearing them had Big Dog Dads. Strange that they were Big Dogs... yet everyone remembers them as Big Dog.
I remember. I wish I didn't, but I do. being in grade school in the 90s, my best friend at the time (what you might call a 'husky boy' back then who played baseball) and his dad had closets half-full of Big Dog shirts with 'tude. I also remember another brand using those old MS Word clip art bean people with sassy lines like, "Play you? Why? I'd just kick your butt!". I think there were a lot of short-lived brands who got on the graphic-tee-with-'tude trend. another common one to see was "It's a thing. You wouldn't understand." often where club=band, but they had others. what a time that was.
Omg I remember most of this from when I was younger. I forgot they went up to 6x. I texted my wife and told her I'm getting fat so I can be that big ol grumpy dad drinking a beer in one. Also I just noticed, this was your last video I had to watch. I'm ready for the next one!
I remember them! This logo was everywhere for a while. I think even I had a tshirt with this logo ( or maybe my sister). Very cute. Too bad they failed.
Love the content! I’d love to see jnco, senate, and alll the rider made snowboard brands from the early 2000’s like nomis technine forum stepchild and my fav JSLV
back when the sixth harry potter book just came out, my parents got me a glow in the dark shirt from big dog that read "hairy pawter and the half-breed prince" wore that shirt until it was practically falling apart, lol
the WAY I forgot about this store. im gen z but I vividly remember seeing this store in a mall (not my local one I don’t think people wore this brand in Miami) as a kid and always wanting to go inside and being confused why there was dogs on everything😭 I didn’t know it was that popular back then cus I never heard anyone talk about it
I still have a lot of my pops’ old Big Dogs clothing lol. They’re still comfy. Edit: they are still in business with a website?! I’m bringing it back! We use to have one in Batesville Mississippi and I loved their clothing, everything was comfy.
I was born in 1985. I remember when I was in middle school in the late 90s kids wearing BIG DOG shirts. I also remember the other big brands being Rollin Hard, Jencos, Airwalk, Van's, and Zonez
I definitely remember thinking this brand was so cool when I was 10 But the term "big dog" has such a CB radio boomer dad vibe to it It will never rise from grave RIP BIG DOG
So, this video justice me realize that a shirt I have may be from a big dog store since it says "I Am Big Dog" on the front. I didn't even know this company existed
oh my god while i was watching this i realized that i was wearing big dog boxers from the 90s! they were my moms and i also have another pair! i knew it wasnt a super popular brand like it was in the 90s !!
Man I had So many of those Ts and shorts from mom at the same time I was into Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails. You can see the timeline and conflict in that.
i remember B.G as man they had probably a cool Store at our mall back in the day and plus i wanted to meet one of the Dog Mascots, i did see em but then i cried go figure eh? Lol
You’re not crazy. Anyone that was at least 10yrs old in the mid 90s should recognize that logo. Regrettably, I actually have a Big Dog shirt that I got in middle school. It’s a parody of off the fourth Harry Potter book, Goblet of Fire. At least it was found in a tote while cleaning out the attic
Do "No Fear" brand next! Love your shit man. As a 90s skate rat your stuff hits that sweet spot!
Thiiiiis
So, I think with the way culture is going there's a moderate chance that big dogs will make a comeback. I'm seeing people wear it more and more now days. The big graphic ones with strong statements probably won't make as big of a comeback but their buttons ups and more simple tees with the logo will. Cheers Nate, this was a great video.
i could see that too!
Crazy I saw someone wearing the shirt the other day I forgot all about big dog
@@californiapoontappa it’s so nostalgic for me

At one point, they had a shirt which read “ I’d unplug your life support to charge my phone”
And I just wanna find one for myself haha
I'm gonna make them rerelease it this year dawg
I knew the voice was familiar
I'm looking for it now!
My mom used to buy us big dog crew necks when we were like 5 years old. So damn comfy
the good ol days
I’ve loved big dogs shirts! Saint Bernard
i am incredibly impressed by the video quality on such a small channel, hope you make it big
Thank you means a lot
I was trying to explain these shirts to some younger people at work and they all looked at me like I was crazy. This brand was huge (pun intended) in the south. Nostalgia trip
They were huge here in Southern California, where they were produced!
Digging the content man. Echoing another comment I saw, watching your content I would've sworn you'd have a lot to binge with how well done it was. Stoked to see what's next.

I'm loving this new channel. I can't wait for more videos. Especially ones about skate companies.
Man oh man I remember big dog in elementary school (I’d say from 00-03) every Fourth kid had a big dog shirt or something big dog, And the parody shirts were the most popular ones I still remember everyone loving the Star Wars one.
Love the Big Dog brand and betcha they’ll return even stronger. Love the video.

I binged like 5 of these one day
Great content keep it up! 👏
Born in 87 and literally never heard of this store, love these videos
I loved the "Myrtle Beach" version Big Johnson. That brand specifically got banned in my school.
I actually visited a Big Dogs outlet store on the reg when I was growing up. My mom loved outlet shopping, and I was always tagging along. They were a presence, that's for sure.

I have been WAITING for someone to make a video about what happened to this company! Thank you Modern Business 👍

Wore this when I was like 5 years old! Thanks to you I looked them up and am getting a fresh logo tee 😎
We all knew that one dad that only rocked big dogs clothing. I wouldnt have thought that mid 2000s was the begining of the decline.
Amazing videos man. Keep making em!!

I remember when I was in high school a kid used to wear only Big Dog brand clothing that other kids literally nicknamed him “Big Dog”.

I totally remember this brand. Your not miss remembering. I really want to buy some now for my dad ... Awh the old days
Oh man...I used to rock some of their stuff back in the day...I'M OLD!!!
I used to have a toy and shirt of them. Would love more merch!
I wore big dog and echo religiously when I was I elementary school lol. I remember being so excited to go the outlets in my hometown to go to big dog and echo
I still have a Big Dogs sweater to this day. I got it in the 90s and it's still warm and snug.
We had a big dog store in the outlet in my town so we got to see it quite a bit it.
To me it felt like it was very on par with like the big Johnson shirts that were also popular at the time and then they just kind of disappeared.
Of course it will come around again and then everyone will love it.
They didn’t know how to make sleeping pads, so they taught themselves how to sew and fulfilled the 1000 sleeping pad order. That’s impressive
Big Dog was definitely the "dad shirt" brand and most kids I saw wearing them had Big Dog Dads.
Strange that they were Big Dogs... yet everyone remembers them as Big Dog.
yo love ur channel man! keep it up i love these vids
bro your content is so good! any chance you could do a vid on coogi? I haven't been able to find much info on their history
Ive been so stoked for this video!
thanks Jaden!
I remember big dog I thought their stuff was cool back in the day. You should do No Fear, this video reminded me of that brand for some reason.
I remember. I was really excited when they announced Big Dog FUEGO
You should do one on Fubu, Echo, phat farm

go to the thrift!
I've never heard of them, but I like the video, man 👌
Just spent $100 on big dog clothes because of this video. No regrets their logo tees are actually sick
Outlet malls and shopping malls weren't the same thing, not a real complaint but I wanted to comment for the algorithm. Great channel.
You’re right. Thank you so much for watch and commenting. Have an outstanding week
Love the content! I’d love to see jnco, senate, and alll the rider made snowboard brands from the early 2000’s like nomis technine forum stepchild and my fav JSLV

The world needs a Supreme/Big Dog colab.
You ain't wrong
back when the sixth harry potter book just came out, my parents got me a glow in the dark shirt from big dog that read "hairy pawter and the half-breed prince"
wore that shirt until it was practically falling apart, lol
Big dog made it easy for big and tall guys to find affordable clothing
isn’t this the same exact content as The Company Man? same name for the categories of videos too
My uncle loved this brand R.I.P
It’s still available online :)
I LOVE Big Dog so much!!!
West Marine used to stock almost exclusively Big Dog apparel in their Florida stores in the early 00s.
Wish I could time travel and see haha
There was one at Tanger Outlets in Washington Pa
the WAY I forgot about this store. im gen z but I vividly remember seeing this store in a mall (not my local one I don’t think people wore this brand in Miami) as a kid and always wanting to go inside and being confused why there was dogs on everything😭 I didn’t know it was that popular back then cus I never heard anyone talk about it

Wow I can’t imagine being alive in the 1980’s, no offense but you senior citizens are basically from a different world
Drink everytime he says "Big Dog"
Your videos are impeccable
Means a lot, thank you!
Great video 👍
The 90s were a special time. Everything was about attitude/extreme/BIG/tech etc.
Yea I remember that brand with the t-shirts and everything
I definitely remember thinking this brand was so cool when I was 10
But the term "big dog" has such a CB radio boomer dad vibe to it
It will never rise from grave
RIP BIG DOG
Wearing my "stay in the porch" shirt right now 🤙
Ok I seen you use Bakersfield skate shop now at 6:08 you got the tejon outlets. I'm thinking you live near or in Bakersfield
Yup, in the Rosedale area. Graduated from Centennial haha
My dad still has some big dog shirts I remember going to the store in the mall with my parents
So, this video justice me realize that a shirt I have may be from a big dog store since it says "I Am Big Dog" on the front. I didn't even know this company existed
These are my favorite shirts to thrift lol I found a navy "Big Dog DAD" crew and it's my favorite. I don't even have a dog
My cousin and I always rocked it ironically for laughs i def remember
Their designs are great for lols

Can’t you just see this on a shirt:
“BIG is BACK
and I don’t CARE how you FEEL about it!”
Lol. They’re coming back man. I can see it.
I’d wear their shirts unironically. They sound BASED as Hell!
The shorts are fire
You’re not crazy. Anyone that was at least 10yrs old in the mid 90s should recognize that logo. Regrettably, I actually have a Big Dog shirt that I got in middle school. It’s a parody of off the fourth Harry Potter book, Goblet of Fire. At least it was found in a tote while cleaning out the attic
My favorite crewneck is a Big Dog one, sad they went downhill.
Very sad!
