As a Floridian, yeah you can subdue an alligator on your own. Idk about murder, but they can't open their jaws as well as closing them, so you can manage it. Also hippos are absurdly violent and angry. You can't fight them with no weapons. You can barely do it with one.

That hair thing hit harder than it probably should have. I was *_ALWAYS_* told that hair thing to the point where I was *_FORCED_* to get my hair cut when I was younger. The second I turned 18, I stopped going to barbers entirely because no one could force it anymore. Now it just gets trimmed every 4-6 months at home because I know what I'm doing and it's healthier than it's ever been and 1/3 of the way down my back.
You technically COULD fistfifght a hippo. You're not gonna live to tell that story, but you could theorhettically punch a hippo. Then again, you could maybe win against a pygmy hippo, but that's just being mean at that point. 🦛

They really are fascinating, and it's little wonder the early american cultures that coexisted with them believed them to have magical spirit powers. "Hippos are responsible for more human deaths than any other animal." Not true. The mosquito has that distinction, and no other animal is even close.

Alligators and crocodiles have jaw power only in one direction. They can close their jaws with rediculous power, but its really easy to keep their jaw closed. So I think you could keep its mouth shut, cover its nostrils and wait for it to die.
