Love seeing how you made mistakes and found a way to fix them. Helps me remeber that especially in cosplay no one is perfect! I often beat myself up cause I cant follow a tutoiral on the first try, but seeing you problem solve your mistakes really helps my confidence! Thank you sarah! And I'll def be using this patten and tutorial for my witch hat for my elaina cosplay!
Seeing how many times the plan changes is so relatable lol. This was an awesome walkthrough, thanks for showing your process!! Cannot wait to see more 💜
I love to see your progress on your cosplays, and this video is just amazing ! All the graphic motion you added to it makes it really cool to watch, can’t wait to see more
Saw this in my recommended and I never realized how I know absolutely nothing about not just making cosplay items/outfits, but sewing in general. Like, I had (and still mostly have) a vague idea that it's very complicated and very impressive, but wow, it's really interesting to watch. I just never considered looking up videos on people making clothes/cosplays. Oh my, here's my rabbithole for the next 2 weeks.
Thank you for this! I have no plans to cosplay Mona (yet...) But this is such a helpful video and I can't wait to utilise and alter the patterns and techniques provided for my Lisa hat!
I found your channel through this tutorial for making the hat on my very first cosplay (Siffrin from In Stars and Time). I have been watching your videos nonstop for the past couple days and I just want to say that you have inspired me so much and made me really excited to get into this hobby! Also all of your videos are super informative and fun to watch! So thank you so much for all that you do!!
I love this video cos: 1 - graphics is dope 2 - very informative 3 - outcome looks great! Question, I know the hat fits your head + wig, do you still need to make attachments so the hat won't tumble off?
For mine, the pigtails actually sort of hold it on, but if they hadn’t I would have put some loops in on the inside of the brim, that I could put Bobby pins through to attach to the wig.
@@SarahSpaceman Loops! I know about this but somehow forgot about them! Haha! Thank you! I'm thinking of working on Lisa's hat soon. This tutorial helped tremendously
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I’m making a Eruka Frog cosplay and taking some liberties when it comes to her hat and so far your tutorial was the easier for me to understand 💖
If you ever use the Pellon again and it's not wide enough, you can zig zag stitch them together and get the width you need without the bulk. I do it all the time when I'm short on it and need to finish a project.
I have to make a similar giant hat for a gijinka and have run into the same Buckram issue. Instead of sewing them together like you have I was wondering I could use a zigzag stitch to piece the two haves together (with no seam allowance) and have the fusible glue help support it when fused to my felt layer. What do you think?
Oh that would work really well I think! Especually if you over lap them my maybe a quarter inch, and do the zigzag in that over lap, I think that might work great
I cut patterns out backwards pretty regularly 😂 It's a curse, isn't it? I love making over sized witch hats ❤️ and greatly enjoy your tutorials. I'm so happy to see your channel is finally monetizable because you've worked hard for it.
Thank you! But Im actually only half way to monetization (2,000 hours out of 4,000 needed) :( TH-cam puts ads on videos anyway, I just don't get the money lol. Half way there though!
my problem is keeping that hat on. since she has twintails its harder for me to use loop and clip to wig… Its so hard to keep the hat on! Im thinking I will bread parts of the hair to have the clips attach to but we dont know if that will work so well!
@@sparkusclark6176 Funnily enough I have thought about her hat LOL, You'd want an even wider brim than this one, so you may have to piece interfacing together to get the full circumference, but hers looks almost felted at the sides, so if you COULD use real wool, you may want to consider full felting, which you can find wool felting resources on youtube, OR, if not fully felted you could make a structure like this one with interfacing inside, with two layers of wool around it, (i would honestly probably do an extra felt layer inside too) and then you could maybe wet felt the edges of the wool around the brim together (you do that by wetting it and rubbing it) and youd have a felted hat look but with the inner structure, thats what I would do, but you could also just bind the edges, and you would probably want an rings of wire in your inner most layers to further support her structure. (prob one close to the head, one in the middle and one near the edge)
@@SarahSpaceman *takes notes* Was also wondering how it could stay on the head irl. Bc it really looks like it'd just slide all the way down to the shoulders
hello is there any chance for a scaramouche hat tutorial?ive seen many people on various platforms struggle with making one so i was curious if you could shine some light into this problem
I really just make tutorials for the cosplays Im already planning on making, and I dont plan on making him, but, I do think a lot of the techniques used in this video, and my ranni hat video, could apply to making his hat, at least the base of it
@@SarahSpaceman Oh that's quite understandable, still thank you! I'll try and take notes in the process from all these trials errors and explanations! Still love your content though

I don't make cosplay, but I am learning to sew and seeing you puzzle out problems and mistakes give me confidence in my own sewing. Thank you so much!

The quality you put into this video 😩✨
Last time I made a giant witch hat I used the outer seams to add wire to the brim and it helped a lot!
The graphics in this are so freaking dope

I really love your editing! Your cosplays look so cool.
Mona is my favourite character please gimme that cosplay rn >:D
I wish I found this video before I made my witches hat for Halloween. It would’ve been helpful.
Your so talented omg! I love your channel so much you deserve many more subs! ❤😊
Thank you so much!!
So- I'm watching because i need motivation to make scara's hat and now I'm kinda happy . . .gotta go buy a few things tho
The editing is so good!
Thank you!
Omg… i have 3 monas and i saw this now i actaully bring her out

I love these videos! I’ve followed your Instagram and your work is so stunning! 💕
For the seam showing, do you thinking covering it with double sided pellon adhesive would have helped? Made it less noticeable?
Maybe! I think I just didn’t need that bone in there all together, that’s mostly what’s making that stand out so much I think
I'm doing a shiny chariot ako combo! Thanks so much!!
I found you and I am happy to know your techniques

Keep making more videos I look forward to them! 😁💕
Also love your work!♡
next year i might cosplay klee (im very short and young also chaotic)
Which kinda fabric paint do you used? Looking for one fabric paint i can use on satin for years (wanna avoid using acrylic)
It was Mont Marte Fabric paint!
You're actually amazing
Thanks so much!
Cool 😃
I was just gonna buy Mona I think but this has me considering,,,, what if I made it 🤔
nice

but also, the cone part of my hat isnt as wide as yours so its a bit tricky to make it work! I shouldve made mine like yours!
I totally subscribed lol✨💕
What's the weight like? How long can you wear it before your neck starts to get stiff?
It's not very heavy at all actually! The body suit is much more uncomfortable than the hat haha
@@SarahSpaceman Wicked! I'm working on a very large hat for larp and have been using felt. Videos like yours are *very* helpful.

Where did you get your pattern weight?
I think i got them on amazon a while ago, but they appear to just be two inch washers, which you can get at the hardware store
I saw a genshin ad while watching a genshin cosplay video😭
