that last one is how Nürburgring's Karousel came to life. Drivers rode that drainage like they've seen rally drivers doing on dirt roads, and it became the official line trough the corner

That wall ride is what I've been thinking about when im trying to think of some ideas of making my own race story. I've never realised that someone has the same mind as i did.
Around 8:00 This is literally what the main protagonist does in a race against a racer call God Arm in Initial D... P.D: Thanks to @theiaraine for correcting me
FYI in Initial D there are two variations to this Curb Lock, and really it only works at Akina and a couple of more tracks that have similarly angled canals, but overall you aren't supposed to lock onto the curb for the whole corner. First variation is at the start of the corner, allowing for slightly higher entry speeds and disengaging at more a less a half point of the corner, using full on throttle to steer the rear end of the car and allign the exit of said corner. Second variation is at the mid-to-end part of the corner. At more a less the halfpoint of the corner, you dig into the curb and use it to exit the curb stepping on the throttle, sticking you to the inside exit of the corner. So you go wide first, then tight. These two are the variations of Takumi's technique, its not actually a continous curb drive. Now as for how these work in actual real life, that is arguable. IRL, I would say it is 99% impossible, meaning that 9.5 out of 10 times you would probably crash like crazy if you try to do something like this, or scratch your rims at the very least. In terms of physics I would argue it is possible, but I would call it more a gamble rather than a technique, and a dangerous one at that (To do consistently as Takumi does). Sim racing on the other hand is more plausible. I know for a fact that both of these variations work as intended, if you stick it perfectly, which doesn't happen that often. The issue at hand is the replicability. Like sure you can get a one off where your tires stick and everything just rolls through the corner as intended, but I find it really difficult to replicate. With practice you do get better, but I wouldn't say to the same degree as with other driving skills, which are more thorough and tested, but its important to mention the importance of the track. After practice, I am able to somewhat stick the first variation of Takumi's technique, albeit with lacking consistency, but still get sufficient results but ONLY in Akina, doing it in another track becomes a whole different story. Road design, elevation angle, entry speed, weight shift of the car, brake distance, exit acceleration, timing; everything changes and suddenly the replicability goes out the window. This is all my opinion at the end of the day so I may be mistaken, but I would like to think I am somewhat informed, grew up while Initial D was being emitted and thanks to it I basically got heavily into cars, as most other people did that followed the show around that time 😅 So let me know what you think about this too!
When you had Irohazaka in the intro I laughed pretty hard. I came back from Japan yesterday and I drove Irohazaka Saturday night and Sunday morning. I'm glad it didn't go like it did in your video lol
This feels like speedrunner techniques vs reality. In reality, you can never get the perfect best line because perfection is impossible and you will crash or die while doing it, but with speedrunning, you have infinite lives and time, so you can grind until you reach perfection.
I loved doing that wall ride in the intro to people in assetto corsa. Tried it when messing about with a friend and it was just so stupid. It's so funny that this works in both assetto and beam.
Once i was watching for first time the shinigami battle before an exam of the University. I was saying in my mind: there's no way for that 45° banking without damage... Well. I was wrong... I needed to rush to the exam because procrastination won the game and was late... What i never spect was a truck stuck down the middle of a bridge on the highway, while i was using the safety rail. I discovered that day running at 90 km/h 45° on the grass that it was possible. I wont recommend it 😂. Obviously i fail the exam because of nearly death experience, but now its a funny and scary little story on your comment section. Sorry about sh*tty English and regards from Arg
You didn't watch that stupid cartoon enough, it said there is two ways to do the kerb lock. One is focusing the cornering speed the other is focusing the exit speed. The difference between is where you put your wheels behind the kerb.
