So happy to see one of your vlogs again! Some of my fav content on your channel! Awesome that you and Jimmy got to meet & hang out!!! Glad you enjoyed your trip Stateside, and your parent's back yard looks amazing! Also loved seeing the baseball game, and your amazing book haul, although I blame you for always giving me FOMO with your beautiful books! Finally, I teared up too, seeing you tear up - lol - about A LION'S PRIDE. It was a HUGE honour to have you provide a quote on my book. It means the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I will treasure your quote always dear friend! Glad the book arrived there safely! Looking forward to your next vlog!

That means a lot coming from you (considering you're in a good portion of my content 😂)
We had a great trip...somehow there's never enough tie for everything but we made the absolute best of it :)
Ahaha yeah TBB knocks it out of the park so consistantly...every book haul with them in it is pretty.
I truly am so touched you reached out for my words to be put on your book for posterity...it was an honor🥹😭

Kawaii! Your daughter is precious! 💕 And hooray for Jimmy’s cameo! 💪🏼 I may need to buy that Shinto book for my husband. He went the Kifune Shinto shrine outside of Kyoto and walked to the mountain town Kibune (he told me to write all that 😅). It was a very special experience for him. Wonderful vlog!

      Thank you!! 🥹💕
She eats up the camera so we're in trouble I fear hahah
jimmy was wonderful! I know you guys have had the pleasure of meeting in person too. So surreal to realize we're all actually living breathing people 😂
Oh I think it' s a great gift for someone interested in Shinto! Oh wow the Kifune shrine is so picturesque! I haven't been myself but I've seen pictures. I'm sure your husband can testify to shrines having their own atmosphere. It's really something that has to be felt...it can't be explained. Which is why I think Shinto is such a hard religion to hold in your hands...it lives in the experiences.

Look I love all your vlogs, but when you put a wild Jimmy in it... you have GOLD hahah 🤣🤩
Really hope you can find a nice home in the States again sometime soon, sounds like you would thrive there! For now I will still devour all the Japan content though!
"I do still read books, not just open them" LOL. Very glad that Dowry was such a hit for you, I also loved that one. And I thought An Education in Malice was also brilliant, the vibes are just to die for.
And welcome to the T. Kingfisher fanclub, there is soooo much to love here!! I think you would adore Swordheart, but I'd recommend reading the Clocktauer duology (as a package deal) first!
Hope you are doing well, happy reading 🥰

Coming in HOT wit the greenbone slander 😤
Yeah I think it'll be a really bright future for all of us, but I'm definitely torn becasue I truly love Japan. I could live here happily for many more years to come, but having a kid does change your perspective on proximity to family and all that. Who knows, maybe we'll move back later in life! :)
😂Every once in a while I do read the words on those pages...🫣
Dowry definitely made me want to read more of Gibson! Does she have a backlist?
Ohhhh! Thank you for the Kingfisher recs as I was having a hard time figuring out where to go next. I'll definiltey follow this because I trust your taste impicitly 🥰 Already marked on Goodreads 😉
I hope you are too, and that stepping away a bit has been a good re-set for your mental health 💕 Sending you all the love!

@@MaedBetweenthePages That's the beauty of life, you can just go with the flow and choose what makes your heart most happy in the moment!! 🥰
And I think Dowry was Gibson's debut, but An Education in Malice was a loose spin-off, and the upcoming Evocation is completely standalone!
Hope you love Kingfisher when you dig into more of her works, always here to gush with you hehehe 🤩

    Your parent’s garden is soooo pretty😍 !!!
A blurb on a book 🤯??? So cool???!!!
Yessss I’m so glad you liked Dowry and Nettle!!! Two of my absolute favorites!
Looks like you had a lot of fun on your trip! Hearing you struggle for an English word made me wonder- after living in Japan for so long do you find that your inner monologue is more in English or Japanese?

    • @MaedBetweenthePages
      @MaedBetweenthePages  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Right?? It's one of my favorite parts about going home 😍🌱
It still doesn't feel quite real, but i'm so honored PL asked me 😭
Why am I not suprised? Your taste is truly immaculate! 🤌
This is a really good question! I find it depends a lot on what I'm doing. If I'm talking about something I usually do in English (like reading) it's actually a lot harder to switch to Japanese. But if I'm doing things around the house, talking to friends, ordering at restaurants, etc. it's almost always Japanese. I also find that when I mumble or talk to mysefl it's in Japanese too hahah

@@MaedBetweenthePages I find that kind of thing so interesting! I’m not bilingual (like at all) but I used to know a good bit of sign language and I would find myself signing randomly in conversation and I might have the sign for something first before remembering the word. My husband, who is bilingual, mostly thinks and dreams in English but occasionally still has dreams in Spanish. I just think it’s cool! Thanks for sharing!
