I was kidnapped by my dad who moved to Canada when I was 4 and I met my mom when I was 15 and didn't know who she was. She kept hugging me and crying and like every 15 year old girl, I was just embarrassed and stiff thinking why is this person hugging me. But I remained polite and tried to talk nicely to her, even though she was just like someone just off the street. It took me years to get to know her although she was a probably the sweetest person Ive ever known but to this day (I'm 54) I still see her as just a friend or neighbour and she's passed away now and I feel bad about not having been able to give her true love back. What my dad did to her was the worst possible thing, taking her children away and destroying the mother/daughter bond for ever. But I just couldn't force it, the feelings weren't there, I'm sorry, and not having a mom warped me in my relationships to others. When people take kids away from their parents they want to make the other parent suffer but the ones who get most screwed up for life are the kids.
When she said ‘I was hoping I could thank them’ it made me think of the story of Solomon in the bible, I’m not religious, but that story about the real mother choosing to sacrifice her child to save him has stuck with me since I learnt it.
The woman (who's child died in its sleep) was willing to cut the baby in half. The real(biological) mother was willing to let the other woman have the child, so she could save its life.

This episode was emotional. These couple took the baby because the mother wasn’t caring for her. She was lost and an addict .. the baby would cry all day and night .. not fed sitting in her stool and they were simply so stupid to take her and leave. The mother never asked about her. I think because they feared they won’t have a chance to adopt her if they called on her mother .. they decided to just take her. They expected the mother to never care .. which she didn’t but then the daughter got sick and they needed to take her to the hospital .. and that’s when they told the doctor naively about it and they got caught. It’s a sad story
The birth mom was a really bad mother. The stepparents did a crime as they kidnapped her but they gave her a good life and lots of love so no. I don't think it's selfish of her not to care for a person who made her and then put her in danger.

I mean, it's a normal human response to react like that when you've just found out the person you thought was your mother actually isn't and that you were actually kidnapped at birth. I'd be more worried if you weren't upset at all.
Motherhood wasn't so powerful thing when she used to leave the girl outside the house without feeding or cleaning her to take drugs, right? The couple should have alerted the authorits because it is not that I think that I could do a better job than the biological parents that I can take a child and raise like I had been adopted legally. If they had gone to the police, the girl would probabily be put for adoption (if the biological mother didn't want to be commited to rehab to take the girl back and really takes care of her like she should) and they would have had a chance of adopting her according to the law.
If I was there, I would be angry at the doctors and the nurses for calling the police on Gabbie's adoptive parents because I felt Gabbie's sadness, and if I would meet her biological mother, I would say to her " Well you got some nerve to come to her life after what you've done for all these years".
