Well that bloody Swan didn't like you Hehehe... I enjoyed this buddy, great footage and some interesting information. Makes me angry (sort off) when I see people without a PFD and your right you should dress for submersion not for air temperatures. It could have changed by now. However, I watched a paddle video about 3 years ago. A bloke paddled the canals within London and OMG most of it looked like a dumpling site with rubbish in the water everywhere.
Thanks for the comment. The swans in that area always seem to be problematic! Like you, I worry about what other people are wearing and the effectiveness of the kit. It's fine when things are going well, but if the weather turns or they fall in, it can quickly become dangerous. The Canal & River Trust do a great job of keeping the canals as clean as possible. There is often smells of fuel from the boats, but I haven't seen massive amounts of rubbish. The occasional sunken barge though - as in this video! Have fun and safe paddling buddy.
Interesting to see somewhere that has changed so much since I worked at Brum Boats in 1991 I will correct you on one statement Sherbourne Wharf was not a factory it was the Fellow Morton and Clatons wharehouse and when Brummagem Boats had the site it was an empty warehouse and some of the old FMC offices still existed. I have to say it was rather nicer in my day!
Thank you for the comment and correction. Great to get this from someone who knew the area. The wharf area is very busy now with flats and apartments. The towpath being used to get access to the main city centre helps alot. Take care and best wishes.

Nice video as always. I love to see kingfishers when I'm out on the water. Got to be my favourite bird.
Thanks Bob. Yes, have seen a few, but never got one on camera. Hope the paddling is going well.
