Actually if you make it in 7X14 cm (if you use print paper like I do) then you can save a lot paper cos you can make 6 part from 1 paper. True it will be lot smaller but I think in small version it looks better. Oh and 4x6cm for yellow.

I made one for my girl because she love lotus flowers except I colored my paper with colered pencils to make it one of a kind and used orange and 2 different color greens thank you so much for the video she cried it was so pretty wish I could send you a pic

I haven't tried with string...you may try with some sort of stroger string to hold it in place..sorry for the late reply ..my computer is broke..
