They basically said it was because 3.24 has been eating up too much PTU time, so they pushed 4.0 back to Q4 as they know it's definitely not going to get through the PTU in Q3 now.
Can we fix it?! Yes we can! Time to go play Handy-Spaceman. Jokes aside, im honestly interested in base building and would love to be a space contractor...
I think the roadmap update was just to keep us at bay until citizencon. It really didn't have or tell us much about new stuff we didn't already know about.
Can't wait to see the engineering/repair gameplay. There's a lot of potential there. Engineers should play an important role on larger ships. I'd like to see their work include things like: - Engineers should be responsible for adjusting power levels, not the pilot. You want to go to nav speed or quantum? The engineer needs to reallocate power from shields to engines. You want full power to shields in combat? Tell the engineer. - Components could lose efficiency over time, requiring an occasional small kick to bring them back to peak. Particularly when power allocation to that component is set to 100%. - During combat, the engineer should be putting out electrical fires, repairing power connections and components and patching hull breaches. - When repairing power connections, be sure to reroute the power to avoid getting injured! - The ability to restore hull plating to 100% and repair or replace damaged components as a cost saving alternative to paying landing services would be fantastic.
Its hard not to give up with this game.... but hey cool we can buy ships that barely function yay or bunker missions with AI that glitch or disapear that randomly clump up together, or rubber banding from heck, or flying through the back tail gate of your 200 dollar ship that has a door closed..... How about.... ya know fixing things. but i guess that doesnt sell lmao CIG makes BSG devs look like rockstars in comparison. CIG is like the day before devs but in space. Good vid sorry for the rant! Hopefully it comes.
Over 500 million for a single game and it’s “MMO” off shoot using its website as the game shop for selling ships and other things. I don’t have any hope or expectation of CIG getting anything done correctly or timely manner.
@@tropicthndr class action lawsuit is needed to either push the development or release. Otherwise refund all the backers of this mismanagement and fraud.
I don't think anyone was surprised when they announced that 4.0 was going to get delayed until Q4. I would not be surprised if it got pushed back even further than that. Using the 3.24 code base and implement it with the 4.0 code base could cause a LOT of issues. But I do hope that they are smooth to integrate together with all of the work they are doing on 3.24.
Okay, that whole thing about the QT rework sounds loads better. I thought they were going to make us stay in the pilot seat for the entire trip. Happy that is just in the initial stage of QT to ensure a good jump
@paulyskidda387 yes but devs had previously implied that in future updates we'd have to stay seated to stay in QT. They've now clarified that it's only while entering quantum, which is pretty much how it is now.
It's good that they're updating the progress tracker - I just am bemused that they couldnt do it before now. I totally understand being leery of making a promise for a delivery date, but it's not as if they're not internally tracking their work in kanban boards. They're already working with agile methodology. How hard would it be to sanitise those tickets and publish them? It would actually make them look better, I think as you could see things being moved around.
Not really sure what people were hoping for here. But I guess I have probably just given up really trusting roadmaps for most things. Maybe trusting is the wrong word... Getting hyped or excited by them is probably more accurate.
While I agree that there is no need for doom-saying, items for Q4 have traditionally landed at the end of the year. It feels too optimistic to think these items will arrive at the start of Q4 or that they wont significantly slip.
im glad to see more defined lines as to whats being worked on and when they might get around to being done with it. Seeing the game come along is so exciting especially since we are getting so close to SQ42. Thanks for the update bored, may the verse be with you.
It's important to have a script to refer to and anticipate the next development item so you have the ability to see opportunities for collateral component development as you go. It means someone spends a bit of time not coding to put it all into the tracker and maintain the status accurately. Hopefully, this is integrated into the teams at the appropriate level to be informed higher level priority changes and individual dev progress.
Do you believe that other video games set to release in 2025 will delay the release of SQ42? GTA 6 is set to release in Fall of 2025, and I'm sure the marketing of that game will be pretty extensive starting Q1 of 2025. With that being said, I assume getting press coverage will be highly competitive with Rockstar and GTA 6, which would only be detrimental to SQ42 being in the press, which understanding how game launches are, CIG will want to get SQ42 in front of a wider range of audience. I genuinely think releasing in 2025 might not be the play here. The press takeover from Rockstar + the sheer volume of people playing GTA 6 when it releases would only prove to be detrimental to the overall release of SQ42 if they choose to release around the GTA 6 launch, in my opinion.
I mean sadly no one will be playing this game regardless when GTA6 comes out. They have never known what they are doing. Except selling you a shiny NFT for 1k. that barely functions in game haha BuT ItS A pLEdGE
Due to the delay on 3.24, I'm not expecting 4.0 before late Q1 or early Q2 next year. However, in the little bit of time I've got to spend in 3.24, it does seem to be running decent.
Can't wait for 3.24 and 4.0, the quantum jump change sounds interesting and fun as well. More hands on is good for the start. Then standing up for the traditional Quantum Coffee.
I know it's how they fund the game, but I can't help but feel sometimes like CIG has made too many ships before they've nailed down a lot of gameplay concepts, it's just created a huge backlog of work that they (seemingly) aren't getting around to, new quantum travel, new systems management, new MFDs and they have to go back through a huge number of ships to make it all work.
Sounds like we might actually get an actual game at some point. I've been a backer for decade and sometimes the wait has felt endless but every bit of news has the potential for happiness.
When you said that the FPS radar and scanning had had a 202 _week_ schedule coming to and end... I did a double-take and had to rewind and watch that again.
I think a 2025 sq42 release feels reasonable since its a pretty big timeline but as I've already said, predicting a CIG release is basically impossible.
I just hope they can tie these things all together in the end. Building the mechanics behind the game have seen plenty of challenges. I do like the cargo missions, I just wish you could sell everything in the stations above the major planets, instead of flying down to the planet.
yessss scanning is getting updated. i was so frustrated by that when some ships specifically mention scanning and radar suites but the mechanic in-game is so basic and hard to use.
Has CIG considered making ships bought in game re-sellable to a NPC via the ship purchasing terminals etc… Bought a Taurus in game and would likely buy one out of game now, but no point having two. Seems like a missed opportunity for CIG but also keeps one’s fleet more manageable. Makes one want to wait for a wipe to finally upgrade, which are now fortunately less common.
I hope the base building doesn't delay far into next year and at this point I expect them to announce SQ42 but if it's planned for late next year then it will likely be a 2026 release...
They’ve said multiple times that the current work on the Polaris and Zeus will feed directly into work in the Galaxy, and then the Perseus. The team(s) working on those ships will be working on RSI ships for the next couple years. I’m personally curious if they’re going to splice in some “Constellation refresh” and/or “Apollo” work before they start on the Perseus.
I guess I just assumed Q4 all along so much that I didn't even remember them saying anything else. So yeah, not surprised but also not disappointed really. Whenever new stuff comes is fine, let it cook all it needs.
Pyro Station in the "Terrapin clip" looks sooo cool. But maybe too abandon hull looking, a small more populated section like Knowhere/Tortuga would be nice.
I'll still not likely spend much time in Pyro. The "emergent gameplay" that will plague any known mission area will take the fun out of everything for me.
I am glad they are updating their tracker but it seems a bit hollow. SQ42 being in the polish phase sounds kind of like when a team building exercise says we need synergy and a bunch of other buzz words, a little overused. I really hope they are checking everything they can to make sure it doesn’t release like some of the other big releases and is buggy as hell day one looking unfinished and missing key features. They really need to have an announcement of SQ42 release date before the end of the year. Having said that, if this comes out and doesn’t meet the expectations and hype they are going to be kind of screwed.
Expecting 4.0 probably as a Christmas present. It could shake my belief in Santa if not 😁 Looking forward to more craftables. Kopion steak and Katsu when? Just give me a stove and some generic slabs of meat... It's a shame to let all that food go to waste
I got my F7A and I havent really played since. Ive bought a lot of ships and vehicles in may because I do believe in this game since I backed in 2017. I just wish they wouldnt hype unrealistic goals like the sand worm...
I am excited for these repair missions! WOuld be great solor play and I can picture jumping in small ships like an Aurora, or cutter, Reliant, or Nomad to do these missions (Since I see the Aurora as the equivalent of a little Transit van IRL) and go fix stuff around the system. WOuld be great fun for me (though not for everyone). I am excited for 4.0, though I hope it is released in a good state, and not like 3.18 that was dropped, and CIG went off in Holiday leaving us for a month with a broken game (Maybe release the PTU, get a bunch of data, and release the patch to the PU once back from holidays? I'd be happy with that! One think I am looking forward in 4.0 is The distances in Pyro where we may be forced to sacrifice speed of a QT drive for range (and start looking into using industrial drives). NOw, alternatevely, change the amount of QT fuel on some ships. I mean, stuff like the C1 spirit, Freelancer, and Cutlas are fine, but some smaller ships... I'm okay with fighters like the Hornet or Sabre (stuff that may be carrier based) have QT fuel of about 600 quantity. BUt some of the "all purpose" starter ships like the Aurora or Mustang may need a bit more (like, 800 to 1000, maybe even 122?) I am looking at a "starter" ship like the Drake Cutter that the standart variant has 1900ish QT fuel, and the 315p (an exploration ship) only has about 700 or 790 or so? I think that should be increase. Yeah, we should consider haivng civilian or industrial drives on the starter ships like Auroras, Avengers, Reliants, Nomad, and Mustangs, BUT... When you see a ship like the Cutter tha has 4 SCU and cost less than the 315p IRL and in aUEC have 1200 QT fuel less (it being an exploration ship) the I'd imagine there would need to be a balance on those ships? Maybe they'll do that for Pyro with increased distances, Maybe they'll force us to use Industrial/civilian drives, and I am good with that, BUT, when you see the Cutter has about 1200 more QT fuel than an exploration ship, I question if that was because the aurora came out when we only had Port Oly and CryAstro to fly around, no mooons, and as the Stanton system expanded, they thought well, people would refuel with the "L" stations (Hur-L1, L2, L3, etc). I do think there woul need another balance, and I think we should depend on refueling, BUt since stanton won't be the only system, i could also see a balance where ships get a bit more QT fuel (Now, again, I think fighters are fine with the amount they have, like the Hornet having about 630 QT fuel makes perfect sense, but stuff like Auroras may need closer to 700-800, and exploration variants like the LX/ES of the Aurora, Mustang Beta, maybe teh Reliant Sen, and the 315p would likely nee dsomethign in the range of 100-1500? LIke, I'd be okay if they auroras ahve about 900, but the Avenger Titan (a courier ship, meaning it owudl need a decently fast QT drive with range to carry messges?) would need more fuel to travel around, and exploration ships need to go to places where they cannot refuel, and be back, and if they have to rely on larger fuel tanks AND slower industrial/civilian drives, that is fine, but for the system.. I think we'd need to have a bit more fuel. Just saying. Long post, sorry, but had to rant this. Not goign to spell check either. sorry. I should... but nto gonna :)
Honestly it would be cool once we have our own home locations - build it out from some measly Spirit with a bed and shoilet as my living quarters and only structures for storage, to a more comprehensive little enclosed economy!
I'd rather they delay and get it sorted than push out a rushed update for the sake of Pyro gameplay. The new missions sound fun and I think the crusader starter will be one of the mystery ships
Everything is better than the Aurora sitting in my hanger but, of the ships I've managed to try, the Star Runner felt the most like the Sci-fi fantasy I had in mind. While I like the cozy 1-2 man ships they don't have the flexibility of the Star Runner.
I have always enjoyed crafting in games, looking forward to what they will do with it. Would be nice if we could learn blueprints for armors we find so that we can create a replica if we loses it.
Love hearing about the progress. When they quote a timeframe I know to not expect it and I much rather let them cook with it until it is ready to go. Still hope we get 3.24 soon, but as long as it releases with few new issues and some old issues fixed and they continue to develop the game ill be happy.
My feeling: a4.0 early 2025 (late January to mid February). Squadron 42 released for CitizenCon 2025, with SC switching to beta soon after. SC commercial release 1.0 for CitCon 2027.
My question about the release of squadron 42 is that they said it's feature complete, but we still don't have physicalized armor..... Does that mean they plan on having completely different damage models in SC and S42?

It's sever meshing and core tech updates that'd what it is along with engineering the fire system etc.
They specify that it's because of the extra time 3.24 has taken to get right
They basically said it was because 3.24 has been eating up too much PTU time, so they pushed 4.0 back to Q4 as they know it's definitely not going to get through the PTU in Q3 now.
Oh man I can't wait until the end of the year now for 4.0, I've been waiting years for this moment and it's almost here!
Can't wait to see the engineering/repair gameplay. There's a lot of potential there. Engineers should play an important role on larger ships. I'd like to see their work include things like:
- Engineers should be responsible for adjusting power levels, not the pilot.
How about.... ya know fixing things. but i guess that doesnt sell lmao
CIG makes BSG devs look like rockstars in comparison.
CIG is like the day before devs but in space.
Good vid sorry for the rant! Hopefully it comes.
Yea its all a joke sadly but cool bro we get fire in the year 3000 with futuristic ships and materials that catch fire.
I like the term "reasonable amount of information" implying there is unreasonable amounts coming from CIG
Over 500 million for a single game and it’s “MMO” off shoot using its website as the game shop for selling ships and other things.
I don’t have any hope or expectation of CIG getting anything done correctly or timely manner.
Even if they do all your getting is Pyro. Everyone is tired of this thing and moved on to Black Myth: Wukong.
@@tropicthndr class action lawsuit is needed to either push the development or release. Otherwise refund all the backers of this mismanagement and fraud.
This year is perfectly fine with me. It's almost over. Time flies when you are having fun.
I wanna believe but recent progress makes it hard to.
I'm starting to think that Sandworm video we saw many years ago was really just CIG uploading leaked footage from Dune Awakening
You know you can get out of your seat and walk around atm right?
@paulyskidda387 yes but devs had previously implied that in future updates we'd have to stay seated to stay in QT. They've now clarified that it's only while entering quantum, which is pretty much how it is now.
It's good that they're updating the progress tracker - I just am bemused that they couldnt do it before now. I totally understand being leery of making a promise for a delivery date, but it's not as if they're not internally tracking their work in kanban boards. They're already working with agile methodology. How hard would it be to sanitise those tickets and publish them? It would actually make them look better, I think as you could see things being moved around.
Lol "69 weeks, nice". I am too old to have giggled as much as I did at this
Not really sure what people were hoping for here. But I guess I have probably just given up really trusting roadmaps for most things. Maybe trusting is the wrong word... Getting hyped or excited by them is probably more accurate.
At this point, it's just a guide for what's being worked on. We don't take stock in release dates anymore lol
Except selling you a shiny NFT for 1k. that barely functions in game haha BuT ItS A pLEdGE
it's not only not the play but it's also not going to happen since the game is far from complete
Due to the delay on 3.24, I'm not expecting 4.0 before late Q1 or early Q2 next year. However, in the little bit of time I've got to spend in 3.24, it does seem to be running decent.
Base building is becoming more and more intriguing to me. I am looking forward to the first implementation of it.
Can't wait for 3.24 and 4.0, the quantum jump change sounds interesting and fun as well. More hands on is good for the start. Then standing up for the traditional Quantum Coffee.
The Mercury Starrunner is indeed a fine ship
I just wish they would get server meshing over with and make everything stable then worry about adding more content.
not surprised by the delay, new roadmap looks like a decent start but I was expecting more flash and more change
I still can't believe they said hangers were going to be in 3.23, and i was dumb enough to believe them. Lmao
How they really solve base-building is really something to look forward to - it will kick so much other of gameplay into proper use as well. :D
Sounds like we might actually get an actual game at some point. I've been a backer for decade and sometimes the wait has felt endless but every bit of news has the potential for happiness.
It’s insane that after 10 years from the anticipated release they still can’t tell anyone what year they are even aiming to release this game. 😂
Yes CR said Alpha will release in late 2025
@@XquizitRush Alpha is still development 🤣
@@Chr1s-fm6bi Yeah I typed Alpha but I meant Beta.
@@XquizitRush if you believe that mate Chris Roberts has more ships to sell you.
@@Chr1s-fm6bi Why are you even here? Let go.
I don't think that just because the tracker gets to an end point it means it will be released, just that whatever that team was doing is done.
When you said that the FPS radar and scanning had had a 202 _week_ schedule coming to and end... I did a double-take and had to rewind and watch that again.
Its nice to get some updates as to what is happening. I'm hoping S42 comes out for Christmas
An overdue, but welcome update right there. Great stuff, Bored! Be well, folks! 😉👍
Thanks for the update. I've been away in the hospital. I got septic and almost died of septic shock. I was on the ventilator for over a month.
I'm glad you are still with us. I wish you a speedy recovery.
@@XquizitRush Thank you !
Kinda crossing my fingers for a crusader starter ship! Would love to have a mini MSR for people starting the game
I cant tell if things are feeling closer or further away. Feeling like a kid waiting for christmas.
Its like the kid who has a birthday on Leap Year. Except your parents hold you to only having your birthday every 4 years.
Very hyped for 4.0 but looks like (surprise, surprise) we have to wait longer than anticipated.
I'm glad I'm not the only one immature enough to say "NICE" to that number ...
I like that the Polaris may be in sight. Hope CIG's focus on RSI ships may bring us updates on the Galaxy in foreseeable future.
Whenever new stuff comes is fine, let it cook all it needs.
seems base building is going to have base upkeep more than just resources, (things breaking down/needing repairs ect)
The release window for 4.0 is Q4 2024? Cool, so we can expect it Q1 2025 then. Exciting that its finally only about 6 months away now.
Looking forward to what we will see at citizencon this year. Last year was amazing
It will be good to get my hands on the Polaris. We should see CIG's funding chart make a big jump at that point.
The Progress Tracker is more what you'd call guidelines than actual rules.
Would be great to get a mission to find and locate a lost crew, maybe find them and pick them up and take them to a planet to complete the mission
Really wanting to see 4.0, but anything that smooths out the roll-out is good with me.
I REALLY can't wait for base building! That will be 90% of my gameplay!
4.0 coming out at Citizen Con seems like a optimistic goal. But fingers crossed!
It could shake my belief in Santa if not 😁
Looking forward to more craftables. Kopion steak and Katsu when? Just give me a stove and some generic slabs of meat... It's a shame to let all that food go to waste
3.24 seems interesting. I could use a little change to my usual gunning down bounties. Might have to pick up a C1 again
I never really bothered to mention it before but thank you for keeping up to date with all things SC... great work.
Can’t wait for citizencon and IAE this year!
I have always enjoyed crafting in games, looking forward to what they will do with it. Would be nice if we could learn blueprints for armors we find so that we can create a replica if we loses it.
Hopefully it comes out before the holidays at the end of this year so we have some time enough to play it.
Love hearing about the progress. When they quote a timeframe I know to not expect it and I much rather let them cook with it until it is ready to go. Still hope we get 3.24 soon, but as long as it releases with few new issues and some old issues fixed and they continue to develop the game ill be happy.
Not surprised at all that it was pushed back, things happen. at least they told us.
If 3.24 is anything I think 4.0 is going to launch tomorrow. I feel the same as you SQ42 will be announce at Citcon with a release of 2025.
I'm excited to find out what the 6 unannounced ships will be.
My feeling: a4.0 early 2025 (late January to mid February). Squadron 42 released for CitizenCon 2025, with SC switching to beta soon after. SC commercial release 1.0 for CitCon 2027.
Looking foreward to the 1st Evocati patches of 4.0 hitting the PTU
My question about the release of squadron 42 is that they said it's feature complete, but we still don't have physicalized armor..... Does that mean they plan on having completely different damage models in SC and S42?
Good question
Thanks for the updates. 4.0 around CitizenCon I very seriously doubt and think we will be lucky to see it by December.
