⚠ Turn the tool rest around. It is supposed to be as close to the work-piece as possible. Reduces the likelihood of the tool flipping up (towards you) if it bites into the wood, and helps stabilize the tool for cleaner cuts.
I got this just to learn how to use a lathe while I’m under Covid-sanctioned house arrest. So far, I think it’s crap, but I’m a newbie so I may have missed a step. The vibrations, even when held down are so bad, my piece keeps flying out of the holdings. Has anyone tried making an extension for the track to turn longer pieces?
I managed to find the exact aluminium extrusion on line. 50 cm length fixed in place with standard extrusion joining strips. Capacity is now more than 60cm.
You're absolutely right. I signed the collection with the clause "Collection with reservation for damaged package" In this case if I had found everything broken I would have sent it back free of charge. I often receive damaged parcels but then the content is intact. For the broken plastic in this case I had already purchased a new metal case (I'll make a video probably)
China comes out with strange stuff, lets mount a drill motor sideways and call it a lathe. Not saying it's a crap product as the small size could come in handy for certain situations
You're using the flat chisel upsidedown

If literally anything shows up to my house packaged like that, I’m not opening. It’s going right on back to China

After using it for a while I have to say that for the small things is fine, for wood a little harder you have to go on more important products
