Guys, you two are hitting on some hot and touchy topics. I have been blessed to harvest several P&Y bucks here in Alabama over the years but by and far most people are over hunting their areas when chasing mature bucks.
In most instances if you haven't harvested your buck by the 3rd sit, odds go greatly in his favor to survive that hunting season.

They cut the bag limit in Georgia from three birds to two. Also delayed the season a week. There has been no proof that either change has had a positive impact.
We also don’t have enough game wardens here. One warden told me the other day that they caught 25 guys hunting a particular quota hunt without having been drawn for the hunt. Nine of them killed birds.

I’m with Jacob no sanctuaries on WMAs. We’ve already lost too much land. I think what has made Alabama such a great place to hunt is how relatively easy and uncomplicated it has traditionally been to hunt here. I would really like to keep it that way. Making a WMA archery only a couple years and taxing out of state hunters could be nice though. Thank yall for the episode!

I'm like Jacob, I'm always wanting to see something new. but I'm trying to just focus on a few spots close to my house this year. running cameras to try and narrow down the areas with the most traffic, finding either a shooter that's getting on camera a lot or lots of doe movements

I would love to see something that would entice timber companies and large land owners to do more for wildlife management on their properties.

My two spots are within 30 min from my home. I have no desire to travel crazy distances any more.

They need to let you hunt all day for turkeys on public in Alabama . Taking opportunities from us working men to hunt more

To expand on restrictions on out of state hunters, I don’t think that non resident hunters should be able to apply to quota hunts. Just my opinion, I live and hunt in GA, it’s really annoying when you live in this state, pay taxes and then a bunch of non resident guys can apply as a “hunting party” and take up spots. Also I agree with Jacob, no sanctuaries on public it’s just silly. In GA we’re restricted to death on a bunch of WMAs, we don’t need more, I’m sure AL ain’t much different.

How do y’all hunt river bottoms that are flooded half to three quarters of the year. What do yall plant id like to hear some opinions as mostly the south has the flooded timber and you don’t hardly see anyone talking about how they hunt it. In my opinion it is the hardest. Most bigger channels of course are Midwest high and flat or rolling hills.

We also have a ton of fantastic deer hunting. If we can ever get the poaching under control, we will rival other big buck states.

I think that bed hunting requires a ridiculous amount of time in the woods as well as a ridiculous amount of hunts.
Cant be showing up on the weekend or for a trip or 2 a year and making it work.
Look how much infalt scouts. Basically 5 days a week all winter and spring. And a couple days a week in summer….then he hunts 100 sits a year based on when he thinks those deer are in those specific beds.
Most of us just don’t have time for that.
