A great musical, like Hamilton can't be appreciated piece by piece in but only in it's entirety. There are so many intertwined pieces to both the music and plot that you might get 20% of the power and artistry.
Yes, please watch the whole or at least watch all the songs in order. Something like this song carries much more of emotional punch when you see Burr's progression to get to this point. We'll all be here to watch I'm sure!! ❤
I think a GREAT musical (as Hamilton is) works *both* in its entirety and as separate songs. Is it MORE powerful as part of a whole experience? well, sure... but saying someone can only get "20%" out of an excerpt is selling the artists short!!

Yea it is big and loud and has that shock factor but the words don’t mean nearly as much as they do if you don’t have context.
I love that you followed My Shot with Wait For It. They're the "I Want" songs, essentially, for the hero and villain of the story. Where Hamilton is a bastard orphan with no inherited legacy and thus a drive to create one, Burr is from a family with a legacy that hangs around his neck like an anchor and makes him hesitant to do anything to "ruin" it. It's what makes them fundamentally different and usually opposed in their goals. That contrast drives the entire show.
This is my personal favorite song from Hamilton. It's such a different vibe from the rest of the musical but it also states so much about the personal conflicts Burr goes through when it comes to his mindset at the beginning of the show. It's just so GREAT. A lot of the other songs are incredible, especially Satisfied, Guns and Ships and One Last Time, also The Room Where It Happens from the second act, this play is a masterpiece.

@@JusJrdn By doing the whole thing in order you’ll get a will catch onto the character specific musical themes, and a greater appreciation for all the different instrumentation and how they weave it all together. BTW the violinist in the pit is Jonathan Dinklage. I first heard of him as he was the first violinist on Canadian supergroup RUSH’s final concert tour. 🇨🇦

Lin Manuel-Miranda who wrote the show and plays Hamilton is one of the most phenomenal writers I've ever come across.. between Hamilton and the music in Moana and Encanto I have become obsessed. Musical genius.
I don't know if you have already heard it, but Lin-Manuel Miranda took an 800 Page biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow with him on vacation. He was so impressed fire that he felt it deserved a hip hop musical. I believe he took six or seven years to write the entire work. He wrote the lyrics and much of the music for the musical and had great collaborators in music direction and choreography.
That is my absolute favorite from the musical! I really think you would appreciate it all the more if you watched them in order. The storytelling that LMM incorporates into the music is absolutely amazing.
I absolutely love your understanding of music theory with your reaction videos. You’re not just reacting as a performer but s someone who understands composition. This is also why Lin-Manuel Miranda is an amazing songwriter. Look at “In The Heights”. It’s his first theatrical production. There’s a movie version

I had listened to the soundtrack hundreds of times before I saw it visually for the first time. I was in tears seeing "Helpless" & "Satisfied" -- their utilization of the moving floor in this was awesome. From the staging, choreo, and music, it is just breathtaking. In regard to Aaron Burr/Leslie Odom Jr. -- my fav with him is "The Room Where it Happens"

Hamilton really is a great show. If you want to hear some bars Heavily reccomment "Guns and Ships" if you want great vocals I highly reccommend "One Last Time"

Leslie is SO damn talented and Lin Manuel is a GENIUS.

Hope you put the subtitles on when you watch the show, it's a must the first time.
I have only watched two musicals with my jaw dropped this and my favorite Jesus Christ superstar, all songs are good and the story is gripping.
All of Hamilton is fantastic, but this song really resonated with me and is my favorite of the musical 🙏🏼
