🚨EMERGENCY situation at LAX on Thursday, January 19th, 2023! United Airlines Boeing 757-300 flight UA552 from San Francisco (SFO) reported a possible hydraulic fluid leak. The situation all played out live during the Airline Videos Live broadcast.

That’s interesting, I just watched another 757-300 come back to IAH with an emergency yesterday while plane spotting. I don’t know if it had the same issue but they had the trucks out there doing laps around the aircraft too.

@@20PINKluvr water condensation, its been icey cold in San Francisco lately, wonder if some of it iced up nearthe landing gear.

Wow...United really need to up their games with the 757s.
Another UAL 752 had an emergency at LAX when I went spotting on Jan. 2, and similarly all fire services dispatched to the scene.
The plane aborted take off and returned to the same spot on taxiway, with emergency vehicles surrounding in preparation (i.e. hose turrets raised and aimed at the aircraft).

I am confused, if you suspect a leak, why would you remain still on a runway or taxiway for the leak to spill on? I would think getting the aircraft docked and shutdown for maintenance would be in order, is it a fear of the landing gear failing and folding?

The best part is the Atlas Air 747 landing on the North Side.
I remember years ago when I worked Ground at TYS a Sun Country DC-10 Charter got it's Right Main Gear mired in the mud while taxiing out for departure It was carrying Firefighters who had been flown in to fight a pretty significant Forest 🚒 fire in the Foothills of the Great Smoky mountains. They got stuck here for 2 weeks if you'll pardon the pun!

Wonder how the crew knew about a possible hyd leak on the mlg 🤔
There are a couple of ways they would suspect a leak. The hydraulic system quantities are displayed for the pilots, and if one of the systems was showing lower than it should have, they would start a checklist to troubleshoot the issue. Another way could have been when they were extending the gear for landing, there either was something in the quantity display that wasn't normal, or the gear extension itself was abnormal.

How do you work at the airport in emergency situations and when a pilot asks if he should shut down the right engine or both, you answer "yes"? I thought they would handle it better than that.
I don’t understand why they have to stop on the runway and stop all take offs and landings. What for? No fire or anything like.

@@sweynforkbeardtraindude my cousin has been a firefighter there for many years and has saved people. Either by hands-on or using the truck he drives. Checking for hydraulic fluid dripping on hot brakes can start a fire quickly. Retired USAF here. To all those souls on board and their families, to them, he is a lifesaver. Our family is very proud of him. Eddie Cheese was just a moron with his comment.

This was an emergency caught on a live stream. I think it’s amazing to watch the teamwork played out. Thankfully it wasn’t anything serious, but still worth a watch. We don’t make the news, we cover it for our viewers.
