Milk, bread, and eggs go first, since obviously emergencies require French toast.

I'm all stocked up now 😊 God has told me to prepare because the US is going to see some hard times ahead.
In Jan '91, we moved from West TX to coastal VA...a whole nuther world for us. Been there two weeks and a threat of snow came along. Our phone rang off the wall with folks telling us to get to the grocery store and get what we needed. Jeepers! Thought I better go, even though we'd brought all our preps with us. The scene was ridiculous: cars parked everywhere, even on the grass; mayhem of folks running I/O of the store with carts at breakneck pace; folks fighting over this and that. I just pulled away and went home. Turns out, it was a dusting of snow which didn't even stick to the sidewalk, just the grass. I'll never approach any retailer again under any kind of threat. Get your preps, keep 'em rotated, stay away from the madness
That sounds a little like where I am. We just can’t handle snow in Texas. Lol
Absolutely R F. I am just below you and we have the same thing happen here with tropical storms, hurricanes or North Easters. Snow notice may even be worse because it’s rare here in Northeast NC.

It takes three days in an emergency situation for a grocery store to run out of food and it takes two weeks to stock it back up
My usual grocery store in Las Vegas did not take that long. It was about a day and a half.

During the covid pandemic, stores were limiting how many people could enter and how much each person could buy. I tried to tell a store employee that all I needed to do is go to the pharmacy to pick up meds. I was refused and just went home rather than wait for hrs to enter. I now try to keep 6mos of my prescription meds on hand along with some canned essentials. I never want to be part of that crowd. Everytime I went to the big box stores the police were there. Never again.
Can you share how you were able to get an extended supply of your prescriptions? Thanks so much
How are you able to do that? Usually insurance companies won’t let you fill that many scripts at a time.
@@Wintek55I've heard of 3 month supply but controlled meds are another story.
@@GarsonMaya yes. I just can’t figure out a way to get the meds ahead to stock up.
@@GotSomethingToSayYou’ll have to bypass your Insurance and use GoodRX or SingleCare instead. Check those out, they also have apps. You’ll pay (a lot) more but you’ll get them and have them without the red tape of insurance companies. It also depends on the meds and what class they are. My Dr wrote me RX for a year’s worth of two meds. (360 days) with a refill. I’m not sure if each state has their limits, you’ll have to check. I use different pharmacies depending on who has the best price and how far or convenient they are.
Hello from Australia
I have toilet paper, paper towels and disposable nappies/diapers all stored in vacuum sealed bags. Not the smaller food bags but the ones you use for quilts and blankets.
I don't have babies but my neighbours do.
I also have baby formula and bottles.
Thank you
You’re welcome Susanne! Thanks for sharing!
Greetings Australia from Minnesota ❤
Amazing neighbor
What a lovely addition to setting things aside for emergencies. I will add baby formula and bottles as well!
The reason I vacuum sealed the paper products was to conserve space NOT to keep them fresh
No matter what you put as your priority always make a list and keep track of what you buy, what you use and what you need.
Thanks for sharing Stephen!
Just did an inventory and sorted things. Do that twice a year at least.
I heard a man explain what happened when his country went into meltdown (Venezuela?) He said toilet paper and water was obvious, but after a few weeks it was baby milk and formulas that people would fight - and kill - for. as you said - Mothers who are breast feeding and suddenly cant get enough food or water cant feed their babies and so the family go in search of formula. And they get desperate, so yes, baby food is crucial - and might even be worth getting just as a barter item.
Stock powdered milk and kero syrup and look up how to make baby formula with it.
@@jimanddonnadexter523 Can also use canned evaporated milk and Karo syrup.
I became a prepper in 1985 when i saw the movie Return of the Living Dead. I just spent $1,000 on more canned food a few days ago. Prep as if there is a outside threat and you are stuck in your house for a extended period of time months even years.
Plant as much fruit trees as you can. Herbs are also easy to grow.
Nut trees & citrus trees which can be grown in pots and overwintered indoors.
Seeds, seeds, and more seeds
Early in my home ownership journey, I got stuck waiting in long lines at the grocery store due to an impending I vowed never to let thst hsppen again. Kerpingbthat promise means that I have to constantly keep my preps up to date. I have found that as long as I keep up on the food and household supplies, the only tjing I might have to run out for is fuel and as long as I go out for them immediately I can avoid the lines. There is nothing as satisfying as snuggling up at home while everyone else is fighting traffic and long lines trying to get the supplies that you picked up before the crisis hit.
Thanks JR, I always appreciate your positive and upbeat attitude and lack of doom and gloom.
Thank you Richard!
People laughed at me in November-December 2019. By March they were asking me for supplies
they laughed at Noah too................good job prepper
I used to talk about my food storage, but no longer. I figure my stuff is pretty secure because everyone will think I'm as poorly prepared as they are. You can help people anonymously.

Remember when they had a shortage of formula? It was done on purpose 🤬
With meds & health, might I suggest 1 pack of depends that will fit most of the adults in the house? If you've ever been sick with horrible diarrhea, you know you will be too sick to handle the laundry involved, if there is no electricity.

Instant oatmeal!
Portable solar panels and hefty powerbanks, like Jackery or Bluetti. I bought mine for camping and have had to use them in several power outages since. Can run lights, CPap, recharge equipment including batteries, fans etc.
Hi! Can you run a small freezer or regular-size refrigerator?
The baby food was an item that I never thought about. I don’t have any kids BUT this might be a good addition to my preparations since I could very easily help out any young family. Or use it as a barter item.
God bless you baby food great idea
We made our own.
Doesn't formula have expire date?
Every year can fruits and vegetables from our garden.
There are 17 infants and toddlers in our extended family so we can a lot of peas, butter beans, okra, carrots, applesauce, strawberries, peaches, figs, muscadines and quite a few more types of fruits and vegetables.
With no extra additives its very healthy and zero trips to the grocery store.
They keep very well also.
We're currently using out of a jar of sweet fig preserves that we canned in 2003.
With two root cellars and four outbuildings almost completely full we eat a pretty good amount of canned food and it is much healthier than supermarket food.
Im always amazed at how full the food stores are when the threat of a storm hits. Doesn’t anyone have a pantry? In rural America we know its important to have one.
In California and Arizona most places don't have pantries, basements, or attics.
And majority of people live in apartments without any spare storage space
From the 1950s the pantry was obsolete, considered old fashioned. New construction had upgraded kitchen cabinetry; a pantry was thought of as degrading. Pity. Remember them from older homes, &they were resourceful. The spaciousness was useful to easily organize and locate kitchenware, canned & other staples, etc. No match to the confined space of fancy kitchen cabinets or lazy susan features. Annoying feature that wastes time.
Condensed milk
So handy in the cupboard
What do you use it for?
@@chellejack3480 replaces milk and sugar in coffee if you’re desperate and you can use it in pudding etc
I add a few odds and ends each month for my preps. It can be done on a limited budget, believe me! Thanks JR, your videos always keep me working towards being prepared no matter what may come!

If you have back up power to a point , a dehumidifier can supply fresh water in a pinch !!!.

Wow. Talk about the absolute, utterly most INEFFICIENT way to try to get water! PLUS a HORRIBLE waste of power. GO find a puddle! Put a tarp up, slanted toward a bucket. I'm in Illinois. In the case of a power outage / emp. I have never seen any prepper channel talk about keeping proper time keeping. Can you explain the importance of keeping a mechanical clock / automatic self winding watch?

A year ago when there was a boil water advisory, I'd never seen water fly off the shelves so fast. And we weren't even in the area under advisory. Great video! I just saw an article on MSM homepage about uses for hydrogen peroxide. They said it is a good disinfectant.
Also, I wouldn’t count on ATM’s. They have to be stocked and if no one is there to refill it you are out of luck. Stashing a few small bills at a time or more if you can would be a safer option. And it won’t take up as much space as any of your other preps! 😊

You can easily put together a large DIY lithium battery pack, that can run electronics and a 12v fridge easily. A portable 250w solar panel should keep it charged. Similar to a off-road camper unit. Also helps save on fuel/gas usage.
Keep them outside your home though because they’ve been the cause of many house fires and businesses burning here.
I took one inch oil lamp wicks and put a length needed through stainless steel scrubbers. Put the scrubber in a bowl or jar and use oil. If it gets knocked over it goes out. With cats we have to be careful. Good if small kids are around too. Oil was used for thousands of years to light the homes.

A simple fix before natural events or shtf hits is 2 to 5 gal empty water grade bottles. Fill and keep in cool, dry , shaded place. Rotate them in good times, date them. Check them with the rest of your preps. ❤
We save every 1- and 2-liter bottle of seltzer (we use lots of seltzer) and refill with water, and tape the caps. Could also be done with juice or soda bottles, they would just have to be very well cleaned first. Best wishes 🙏

People with babes instead of stocking up on diapers should opt to keep a dozen or so cloth nappies aside. Much more sustainable long term , As well as cutting up old towels , teatowels etc for "wipes" instead of wipes
When my chidren were babies i always kept a stock of two dozen cloth diapers, the really thick ones. I can't tell you how many times I used them when the city was shut down from a snow storm or when there were too many days left before pay day to purchase disposable.
