  • Storms started earlier in the day in Illinois and moved east towards Indiana. As they approached central Indiana, they all merged together into a derecho type line
    Sorry about the separate parts. My camera split the files at 3.97 GB and I don't have the right editing software to edit them together where I am at the moment.

    We got lots of storms every summer and my family and I just stand in the doorway of the porch and watch them come in. It gets scary, but there is a thrill to it.

    I´m not used to a lot of thunder and lightning being from the northern part of Norway, and living far out to the sea. The sheer amount of lightning you have here is just insane! I remember last time I was in US, we encountered some pretty violent thunderstorms (at least for me..) when driving down from Grand Canyon one eveneing. Sitting in a rental Camaro with the top down, I was a bit scared..lol. Anyway, very cool video. Thanks for sharing!

    I've lived my entire life in the San Francisco Bay Area and in San Diego, the two places in the US with the least amount of thunderstorms. I remember being mesmerized by Midwestern thunderstorms when I was driving through those states. A storm like this occurs in CA about 10 or 15 years LOL.

    Life in Washington State: Get thunder storms once a year, twice if lucky, with a few strikes and quiet thunder. While in an earthquake area, never experienced one and I've lived here my whole life. Never really get snow, maybe a few inches a year. Never bad wind, once in a while gusts just over 20 mph. I'm in western Washington. I know the mountains and eastern get more severe weather.

    That is WILD!
    April storms by me "can" be on the stronger side since that's when the atmosphere starts to open again, another words when it starts getting pretty nice again. The reason for the quotes around can is because it varies year by year, sometimes we do but not every year.

    My dad told me that if the sky is a greenish color means there's a possiblity of a tornado

    • @kilaueaproductions4210
      @kilaueaproductions4210  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What the greenish color usually means is just go inside. Lol it comes from the rain and hail core and storms that produce strong tornadoes often have intense rain and hail which can look green or greenish blue, depending on the time of day and lighting and stuff. It was hard to tell what color this storm really was, because it was getting dark out, but if the sun was still up, it probably would've looked greenish.
      There was a tornado in the area with this system.

    so, a severe thunderstorm went over me a week ago. here’s the story.
    so basically, i woke up. i thought i heard something outside, opened the door, and i heard a siren. a tornado siren. i was like *”oh ok, they’re testing the sirens.”*
    *that’s where i was wrong.*
    after sitting in my apartment playing minecraft, i got a severe thunderstorm warning. i was like *”ah, haven’t had that in a month, this should be good.”* and then, after being outside for a few minutes, i saw some REALLY dark clouds. i responded to that like *”oh shit here it comes.”* basically, it was windy as SHIT. and also extremely dark. basically, satan was visiting earth. it got better though, because it got a little bit brighter. but before that, the power was knocked out. for 12 hours straight. 12. straight. hours. and then it was just and average storm. saw about 5 lightning strikes. no tornadoes though. sadly.

    I wish we had thunderstorms like that here in Canada. Canada is the worst for severe weather especially in Toronto where I live. Nothing ever happens. Weather forecasters say sever severe thunderstorm warning and we barely see or here lighting and thunder. Wtf is that? USA is where the real severe weather is at. I wish I lived there instead.

      I would assume during the peak of severe weather season, the relatively cool water in the Great Lakes block most of the thunderstorms. I used to live in the Pacific Northwest and we didn't really get severe weather there either.
      I'm sure your area still has the potential for severe weather. It can't be worse than the Pacific Northwest. No matter where you are, you can always look forward to unique, special weather! Just keep your eye out and your weather apps open and I'm sure you'll see something great!

    Intense! Was that a supercell?

    • @kilaueaproductions4210
      @kilaueaproductions4210  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a severe squall line that produced a couple tornadoes to the south of where I was. I think it was a supercell until it merged into the line with the other cells.

    Was it hot that day ? Kind of early for thunderstorms isn't it ?

      It got over 80°F that day it was in the mid 70s as I watched the storm come. It wasn't humid at all though. Not compared to the stormy days in the summer. It was in the 50s after the storm.

    Recorded this storm in Noblesville. It looked even scarier and I actually saw lightning come out of the clouds above my head.

    • @kilaueaproductions4210
      @kilaueaproductions4210  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Squall limes can cause tornadoes, but the first thing you should worry about in them is straight line winds.

    The different stages as storm approaches, first is it coming, second the magic feeling, third the excitement as they get closer, forth stage fear that your life maybe in danger.
