Strong Thunderstorms 05-24-2024
When I checked the models and the forecast earlier in the day, it didn't look like the weather would be that impressive, so I didn't pay much attention to it until my lightning detector started beeping. I checked the radar and saw an impressive blob of storms to the west and northwest. It was moving north northeast, but the southern end of it was back building just enough to hit where I live.
I think my camera only had 2 out of 5 bars of battery when I started recording the storms, so it died towards the end.

Total Solar Eclipse 04-08-2024
มุมมอง 542 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was my second total solar eclipse! I got to see the one in 2017, because I lived nearby in Oregon and now I got to see this one, because I live in Indiana. We didn't even have to go anywhere! How lucky is that?! The camera didn't really show how the sun was fading, because it automatically adjusted the exposure. It looked really weird. Sorry about the lack of partial eclipse shots. I didn'...
Nighttime Summer Thunderstorm with Lots of Lightning and Heavy Rain

Here's some footage of a nice thunderstorm from around 2:00am on July 26th. I just love this hot and stormy weather!
Derecho in Indianapolis 06-29-2023
มุมมอง 25Kปีที่แล้ว
I had been watching this storm on radar since it was moving along the Missouri/Iowa border, and it exploded while it was in Illinois. The HRRR forecast model showed it dying as soon as it reached central Indiana and it weakened a bit before arriving, but it still packed a punch and I'm glad I got to experience it. If only I could've been in central/eastern Illinois. Also, this just happened to ...
Lunar Eclipse and Meteor 11-08-2022

I woke up early this morning to see the eclipse and get some photos. I also saw three or four pretty good meteors and managed to capture one on video next to the moon. Skip to 2:44 for the meteor.
Summer Thunderstorms at Night
มุมมอง 707ปีที่แล้ว
This is my favorite kind of weather. Hot and humid during the day and strong thunderstorms with lots of lightning and heavy rain at night. The second storm starts at 12:05.
First Severe Thunderstorm of the Season 03-06-2022
มุมมอง 46K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I think these were the first severe thunderstorms of the season in Indianapolis. The severe thunderstorm warnings were saying 70mph wind gusts were possible. It was 77 degrees and dry and windy the day before this. Then after the storms, later in the day, there were points when there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, then last night, March 6th to 7th, there were 2 more inches of rain which trig...
Winter Storm Landon in Indianapolis
มุมมอง 3472 ปีที่แล้ว
From New Mexico and Texas to Maine, Winter Storm Landon was a very impressive storm. It caused major impacts from all types of winter precipitation and even caused tornadoes on the warm side.

Nothing is uglier than Indiana this time of year. Well... Maybe Indiana in late winter.
Scary Storm
มุมมอง 2472 ปีที่แล้ว
I saw on radar that storms were coming, so I flew my drone to get an areal view and I ended up with some of my best drone footage of a storm yet.
Shelf Cloud and Lightning
มุมมอง 2322 ปีที่แล้ว
Strong thunderstorms moved into the area this morning with lots of lightning and extremely heavy rain in some places. West of Indianapolis, a weather station in Avon reported on Weather Underground, the rain came down at a rate up to 8 inches per hour along with gusty winds! These storms have brought relief from the heat and humidity we've been having for the moment.
DJI Mini 2 in Stormy Skies (FPV)
มุมมอง 642 ปีที่แล้ว
The past couple days have been hot and extremely humid in the midwest with late season severe weather in the Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana and Michigan area. So far this is the best action my area has had during this late season setup, but I'm hoping for more action within the next couple days.
DJI Mini 2 Tree Inspection and Sunset
มุมมอง 822 ปีที่แล้ว
This is footage from yesterday's sunset. I got a DJI Mini 2 after getting annoyed with my Hubsan Zino Pro. The Hubsan Zino Pro is a great drone, but it has a mind of its own and behaves oddly. It likes to fly diagonally and/or turn slowly on its own, especially after accelerating and braking or turning, and it occasionally flies in circles for no reason. I can't believe how much more I like the...
Nasty Thunderstorms Rolling In Over Central Indiana 7-15-2021

I decided to fly my drone as strong thunderstorms were rolling in. Downtown Indianapolis was in the middle of a severe thunderstorm warning at the time.
Spirit of the North: Chapter 1 Gameplay
มุมมอง 863 ปีที่แล้ว
I got this game 2 days ago when I saw it was 50% off and I really enjoy it. I made it to the final chapter yesterday, but I still haven't completed everything. This is the kind of game you can play over and over again, like watching a movie. It's just so pretty! I'm pretty impressed with the animations. Not many games get animals to move in convincing ways, but this game does.

😮😢 if my garage was cleaned out in my house and I was going to experience something like that, I pulled a car in the garage to protect it. I would not even leave it out there. Hope it didn't do too much damage till your house or property.
I remember this storm and my house windows are shaking bad
The weakest derecho I've ever saw.......
Do you live in the street where "Everything Must Go" was filmed? lol
The shadow in the sky as totality was ending! WOW! 🤯
great video
2:36 that red light is actually lightning sprites, upper atmospheric lightning. It’s actually pretty unheard of unless you’re really into the weather.
it happens in severe thunderstorms during tornado warning and it is a derecho
red lightning
Which camera was used to record the video?
Panasonic Lumix S5.
I haven't heard a damn severe thunderstorm like this!
I was up on the north end when this came through, it was dark and some of the craziest wind I've seen around here... but I've heard the south end got it a lot worse. My friend near Speedway had a huge limb fall through her roof and part of it came down into the living room. Meanwhile, I was just working from home but lost internet for a little while
What app did you use
RadarScope.
I'm near clermont. Where were you?
In the triangle of highways northwest of Indianapolis.
Oh ok. That was a scary day for me. It honestly sounded like a chainsaw and then the power was out for a day and a half@@kilaueaproductions4210
Im in Indy. I was terrified. It sounded like chainsaws
I love the rain 🌧️
Good night 😂
I could sleep to this
I love storms!
We might have from hurricane Hilary this last summer but I’m in Northern California this happened in southern California a couple hundred miles away
Also I’m from California we don’t really get derecho storms here
It was definitely timing with that anniversary thing 😂 wow so cool! Wel at least you got some good footage from this. Darn it weakened. Oh well. Looks pretty strong to me still 😂
What was the red flickering?
It had something to do with a transformer exploding or powerlines arcing. I'm not sure why it was red though.
@@kilaueaproductions4210 I would suspect a large transformer or high-voltage breaker caught fire (they are filled with oil). But did not hear fire engine sirens.
Great video, by the way.
Thanks!
Nothing compared to what Carmel Indiana got lol 😝
Very anti-climatic tiny little storm😏
Great video!! 👍👍
Looks weak
I experienced a derecho for the first time last year, May 2022 an intense storm went through southern ontario. The camera really doesn't do justice on how dark and how green the sky gets.
Yeah it’s pretty cool and just pretty or beautiful but take cover! I would be outside watching it too I’m such a hypocrite 😂
Ontario wow even Canada isn’t safe from these monsters
nice 80 mph
Umm, I'm not seeing a derecho storm.. This looks like a normal storm, with decent amount of rain. Not much else..
I’m across from you
I was in Indianapolis. I didn’t know you were there I saw this gusty winds.
What camera do you have you have great video quality
It's a Panasonic Lumix S5 with a Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens in this video.
Nice video. I live too far up north to see powerful thunderstorms even once a summer o_O
How's called the app/radar that you show at the start?Btw great video with awsome shots!!
The app is RadarScope. Also thanks!
@@kilaueaproductions4210 Thank you!!
A nocturnal thunderstorm 🌩🌙
I was in Macomb, IL for this storm. 2/3 of town lost power that day and around 1/3 didn't have power for 48 hours. Road it out at work in the warehouse, sounded like the roof was going to peel off the store.
Compare two hurricanes and tornadoes seems like this one is like scarier I mean all both do the same damage
2012 to me will always be one of the strongest derechos
👍
I was tryna remember how I got to this channel and then remembered I got here from a video you posted 8 years ago I was trying to find
Damn that looks scary! Great video bro!
Thanks!
@@kilaueaproductions4210 no problem
What a light show! ⚡⛈️
I'm glad Newark Ohio didn't get this and I know it's been 11 years since the derecho in June 29th 2012 but asked God that I know that at some point Newark Ohio will get hit by another derecho and whenever that happens I'll be ready but I'm thankful that my house has never been damaged by storms and I know that my house will eventually take a hit and I know that God has my back no matter what comes my way
yeah that system moved fast, up to 100+ MPH wind speeds reported here in Illinois that day
The clouds in the thumbnail: *v o l d e m o r t*
Are you Mexican? We Americans call that a Thunderstorm up here.
This was way more than an average thunderstorm. But good job showing your ignorance.
nothing compared to what Terre haute got!
I wish I could've been there. Lol
Same with Greencastle tree damage pretty much all over the place there was a car that was smashed
My mother, my sister and I were coming in from Chattanooga when we came into Indianapolis in this storm. Rain so bad, my sister could not see. The cloud was so menacing I told my sister to get off the highway. The next exit was 7 miles down the road. We prayed all the way to the exit where we found an Arby. The place was crowded. One lady said she was so scared she was going to die that she called her children to say goodbye. This was a freak a$$ storm. It seems anytime we travel through Kentucky or southern Indiana, we seem to encounter these demonic storms. So grateful to have made it home to crazy Chicago.
👍
