  • Gansu's Chang Zhizhao came in first in men's daoshu with a 9.806, at the 2022 China National Wushu Taolu Championships. This was a great tournament for him, he took first in gunshu and daoshu, and second in changquan behind Sun Peiyuan

How much of the score is based on the jumps/spins/landings? 50% or more?
Also how old do these guys get before they stop competing? I imagine it's similar to gymnastics where above 25 or so you're pretty much done?

Jumps are worth about a 5th of your score (2 points out of 10).
      There's three scoring categories
A (5 pts): Technical execution, judged in the form of deductions for doing movements incorrectly or making mistakes
B (3 pts): Overall performance including how choreo, rhythm, execution, power, style/flavor, and technique all flow together for your performance
C (2 pts): Nandu (difficult movements) which are essentially the jumps and some difficult balances that most people don't do. Jumps and jump transitions scoring are all or nothing (ie made enough rotation, didn't have enough rotation, landed clean, didn't land clean).
Practically, A and C score end up being deductions based, because they're all or nothing. So all the top competitors land enough jumps to fill up 2 points, and avoid A score technical mistakes. Then the remaining 3 points are the decider in overall performance.
In terms of age, yes most normal competitors retire in their 20s similar to gymnastics. Recently there are a few competitors still going strong in their early 30s which is really impressive. Chang Zhizhao is 30 now, and Sun Peiyuan is 33, which is really old for professional top-level competition like this

@@bluehippofilms dang dude, you're going above and beyond with that reply. You guys should do a documentary or something.

huch, or simply deadly. mr Chang Zhzhao laeds the sword here with conotrolled chi in the sword flown. It is to hear and to see. Controlled hand as the power not too much loosing and the chi flown into the sword. The sword is like the finger tipps in that sense. He knows as to see 0.19 the sword is a part of his body . No noise by the sword as many times else to hear. And then the slow simply move to show the beauty of the sword as part of the warrior. at 0.33 simply again the jump then controlled slowing down. Simple the power of the kinetic speed then absorbing. After the sword sound the deadly dance from 1.06 begins. The sword again under full control and in jumps. If in economy of Chi resources spoken this was the one level all should reach besides the sounds of the swords are intended and not just because of the tension and kinetics. If the swords sung then it was best for all. But was another thicker sword type not permitted. For sound effects with 'wind holes'.
