That "keep collecting" stung a little bit at the end for me. At the rate these figures are going with subpar quality, and a higher price point I don't think I will be for much longer.
The price hike is a joke considering that most figures come with next to nothing. When comparing to Neca who isn't that more a figure than legends you always get more. Definitely picking and choosing more. Very few legends feel worth $25.
Answering your question, if they're gonna make them 25$ they should also take their time and put like double or triple the work into their releases to go along with that change since figures like reviewed Darkstar and some recent ones from AoA wave are unacceptable as a collectibles.
The economy is bad so hasbro cheaping out and charging more to get their money back to almost same amount. The more effort they put in the more they'll just charge us extra ontop of the price change. It's true some of their other figures are already pinless joints and double elbowed, but idk, for some reason hasbro just doesn't want to give what their fans want. Maybe because if they get it, they wouldn't need anymore figures? 🤔
@@suhtangwong Yet somehow NECA still sells their figures with uncomparable level of detail for similiar price. Hasbro just need to put in extra effort like with 20th anniversary Cap, Modular Iron Man or Movie Venom but for like nearly every figure. They can't expect us to buy every figure from them as it is right now. If they released less waves in a year but figures would have more work put into them then they would sell anyway. They can't afford such level of detail like Toybiz for low price but they could atleast do what I just said. I believe everyone would be somewhat happy.
In my country, Legends quickly go for $18 and less with just their BAFs removed because people know the majority of the releases aren't worth their SRP. The $25 price hike is a bad joke.
100% agree with all your critics and the fact that for $25 Has bro needs to step it up. Their top 10 best Marvel Legends ever need to be the standard with the new price point. Thanks for the review Anthony.
It’s kind of like the chocolate chip cookies at Starbucks. The cookies keep getting smaller, and the prices keep getting higher. Price increases are just a part of life, but if you’re asking for more money, at least give me the same cookie.
I'll give this one a pass since it came out a little before the first price hike but even at $20 it's a bit of a rip, never mind $25. Funny story, I saw this figure's packaging on clearance at Walmart when the wave first hit marked down to $15 because someone stole the figure but LEFT the BaF part and accessories. Who'd pilfer a mediocre figure and leave the only part worth anything behind? As far as the question of ML going up to $25, they're gonna have to start firing on all cylinders if they want to keep my business. If they put in the extra effort to make the hike worth it, great, even if it's a figure I don't personally want, I'll sleep better at night knowing folks aren't getting ripped off. If it's more of the same ol lazy shit like this, I'm done. Once I get the teams I want to build finished and villains I want I'm out. And people can justify price hikes with the cost of plastic going up or new molds and sculpts, but aside from the classic Dr. Strange , the Toy Biz throwback 20th anniversary figs and some of those retro VHS X-Men, nothing's wowing me as far as Marvel Legends are concerned.
For me it largely depends on what they do with the extra cash. I would be very happy if they came out with a game plan and told us some of the extra money would be going towards coming up with some solid new moulds (a female that doesn’t look like a 14 year old girl would be nice, and topical considering the subject of the review), improving the quality and quantity of paints and improving the overall QC. I tend to be a choosy buyer with Legends (in the main because you consistently show us what good looks like) so I’ll still pick up the good ones that interest me. I’d just really like to enjoy more of ‘em, I’m sure you relate!
The face-down lay pose cracked me up 😹Agree these are not collectibles and not worth the price! You are the greatest reviewer of all time because you always tell it like it is🤟
I collect Marvel Legends and also GI Joe Classified. Both have the same price point (well they did, GI Joe is still $19.99), but it’s mind boggling the difference between the 2 lines, from accessories to sculpts to paint. It’s weird that there is such a disparity when both come from Hasbro. I just bought Lady Jay. Tons of accessories, painted accessories, swap-able hair/hat, it looks like they gave her face some wash so that it’s not plasticy, lots of details in the pants mold. You should really pick a few of those just to evaluate the 2 lines as it really doesn’t make sense the disparity
It'll be interesting to see how much their sales drop (or whether they do) with the price increase. Judging by the new line that's 24.99, it doesn't look like they intend to put any more effort in. It's interesting to see the difference between McFarlane with DC and Hasbro with Marvel when it comes to the amount of reuse...I wonder if the Marvel License is just significantly more expensive than DC, or if Hasbro makes more off legends, I can't imagine it costs them as much to produce your average legends figure as it does to produce your average DC Multiverse figure.
The sad part is that when the sales drop, the line will hurt. The execs will see the poorer numbers and think that collectors aren't into marvel anymore and then probably cut the budget. Which couldn't be more incorrect.
@@fortressmattimus3984 Hasbro is good at making money, I would imagine they're capable of noticing if sales drop right after a price increase. Now whether they'll do anything about that or not, who knows
I’m very new to Marvel Legends, so my perspective may not be as fleshed out. But I will say a large reason why I was pretty hesitant on getting into Marvel Legend was because most of them just don’t look like collectibles. I’m not expecting Japanese import quality, but the majority of them just don’t look that appealing accept for a few. I already thought $20 was too much for what some of them look like. Currently, the only ones I have are the Retro Wave Rogue and Gambit, Grey suit Black Widow, and I have 20th Anniv Cap and Retro Falcon ordered. The Cap figure actually looks like a collectible to me rather than some cheap toy, so I think I’m getting my money’s worth. But I’m only getting the core Avengers (including some B list members), 90s Xmen, Retro F4 (replacing Sue storm head with Scrull one and getting Walgreens Thing), Dr, Strange, Deadpool, and Thanos. A good majority of Marvel Legends I pass on since they just don’t do it for me.
Bobby Vala has said his production costs went up 20% at the factory for Action Force series 2, but he choose to eat the costs for now. Given his smaller runs and size, Hasbro needs to eat some of that cost too, as no doubt they were already making a higher profit margin off of them than Vala’s line.
I really like the face, because it's just completely different than their standard old female face template that they always tweak slightly and call a day. That said, the rest of the figure is meh, and with them doing more unique headsculpts moving forward, there's really no reason to pick this up just for the head, unless you really like the character. Regarding the ML price hike. It's expected. Inflation's setting in. Gas price through the roof. It just means less people will be collecting full waves and instead just pick and choose the good figures. I know I'm going to do that for sure moving forward. At most 2-3 figures per wave. After a while if all the cheaply produced, bad figures pegwarm and go on deep discount, Hasbro will get the message and stop making cheap figures.
The only reason I wanted her was because she was in the animated series working with but then against Omega Red. Loved the animated series. Otherwise without that she's a weak figure. Got her before price increase. Was always a selective collector but even more so now with price increases. Makes it easier passing on those maybe figures.
Figures like this need more then just hands, maybe an alternate head, some more paint. Maybe not use this dang body ever again lol. $24.99 is okay for like you said, a handful of of figures. Great review!
I think all the eyes are creepy on the recent ML figs. The eyeliner is So thin, I don't know a single woman who doesn't put on eyelashes when going to battle.. er, the bar. Anywhere meant to be seen, at any rate.. Otherwise everything you said mirrors my own opinions, keep up the great reviews!
Wow, Anthony being generous. Tbh this is like that new invisible woman, just pure trash. And that face sculpt, don't get me started. Just a fill in for major Ursa. Also this is a really old line now. Got mines last year and was $22 not $25, but ig based on location?
I share your frustration Anthony. Hasbro Legends puts in a conscious effort to do the bare minimum. I think that the G.I. Joe is the best line Hasbro has going. Which sad because don't collect them. You can tell there is effort put into those figures. Some independent collectible toy company is going start doing kick ass Marvel figures for a decent price. Bye Bye Hasbro's Marvel license. We can hope. Want to start an action figure company Anthony?
It's the inflation and the transportation rates. These come from china, making these in the US won't solve the price problem either (probably, it could increase even more). The new price point is bad, since these figures are made just for money sake, not showing quality along the price doesn't seem fair at all.

Maybe he should change it to "keep collecting what is worth collecting" 🤔
The price hike is a joke considering that most figures come with next to nothing. When comparing to Neca who isn't that more a figure than legends you always get more. Definitely picking and choosing more. Very few legends feel worth $25.
Too many fanboys in the Marvel Legends community and not enough honesty/integrity that you deliver. Thanks for always saying it like it is.
5:52 hahaha I love you keep some humor despite the disappointment these figures produce.
Gonna put it out there, I can guess how this review is going to go but I don't care. MORE WINTER GUARD!

How much would it be for you to design a Anatomy blank body for me male and female

Marvel legends for $25 vs a neca tmnt two pack for $60? 😆
I just bought this for the extra hands,,hahaha
This figure is 42 bucks here normal retail where i am..even if this is drop to 5 bucks on clear out i will still hv a hard time buying it.🕵️♀️

They were talking about the office going up years ago.
And they expect us to pay 25 dollars for this trash, rather spend extra on Mafex or Mezco..even S.H.
Another day of thanking god for not making me a marvel fan
