- In this video, I tried to knit a sweater in one day. I used the pattern Blouse No.1 Light by My Favorite Things Knitwear. The moral of the story was if at first you don't succeed, size up a few needle sizes. (:

wow that yarn was made for you, the golden colour looks so good with your hair and the blue makes it so easy to co-ord with denim
Thanks so much!🥰
The style you ended with and the colors of this beautiful sweater look really good on you. Thanks for sharing you skills.
Thank you so much for checking it out, Kathryn☺️
Agree your second attempt was much nicer lovely summer jumper obviously could be worn any season but the colours are summery to me Great Mac joined you always nice to see him Enjoy your weekend 😊
Thanks, Christine! Yeah, I agree - it’s already come in handy for cooler, summer nights here in Montreal. I hope you enjoy your weekend as well☺️
It turned out great! Great to see your “little helper” with you! 🩷
Thank you, Jen! ☺️ Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend 💕
Thank you! It is a lovely sweater, suits you so well. Amazing to realise you knit it only in one day 😮! Mac is adorable, and I love how he keeps picking at the camera every time 😊
Thanks, Marina!💕 Yeah, Mac is very aware of the camera 😄
I love it so much!!!
Thank you so much!☺️
Hello from Boston! First, I have a mini dachshund/ Yorkie pup here, and she’s a great sport when I am knitting!
Second, I just love your videos! Both your knitting videos and the Mac videos!
And third, I am a hopelessly slow knitter. So, I am so inspired by your project to knit a sweater in a day.
Thank you so very much for sharing your experience! And for including Mac, he is just a gem!
Thank you so much, Holly! Oh man, a dachshund/yorkie mix sounds so sweet and like a perfect knitting buddy☺️ I’m so happy to hear that you like both channels 🥰 Something about having a little buddy and knitting seems to go hand in hand(:
You always design lovely pieces!!!
Thanks, Cheryl! ☺️🫶
I like both versions! I thought it was just me that changes my mind halfway through
Thanks! Yeah, you’re definitely not alone 😄
You're so talented! I like the last one best. The looser knit is very flattering and is a very nice fit. You make the most beautiful things. Thanks for bringing Mac along 🧶
Thank you so much, Jeanne 🥰
This video just made me want to be you! You are so peaceful :) I definitely had doubts when you frogged the first sweater, but the final one is just beautiful!
Awe thank you so much, Katherine☺️🫶
I loved this video, it was so happy to watch!
I’m so happy to hear that! ☺️
Beautiful!!
Thanks, Sally!
So pretty!!!
Thank you!!
Very beautiful yarn❤
Lovely!
I remember having those little challenges growing up too😊 I remember doing a who can eat one Caramilk square the slowest challenge. It's harder than you think!
Oh my goodness, I love that!! 😂❤️
EEEEEE a knitting TH-camr that has the same name as me! Hi Taryn!!! 🙋♀️
We are definitely few and far between 😉
heeeyyy el perrito también quiere correr!!!!
True! He’s more of a sprinter though 😄
@@calicoradio_knits yo tengo 2 y son activísimos y correlones, saludos a Mac!
Awe nice!! Greetings to your 2 little ones as well☺️
omg I did not realize that we live in the same city until the chinatown part appeared and I was like 'wait this is a core memory'
Ah nice!! That’s cool 😁
your sweater turned out beautifully! which needle size did you end up using?
Thanks! I ended up using a 9mm needle 🙂
This is so lovely! I have the same yarn, just one skein, and I have been trying to figure out what to make with it. I love the way this turned out, but I am not sure how to adjust the pattern for a different gauge. Do you suggest a specific technique or videos that could help me with this step?
Thanks, Sarah! I haven’t used a specific technique or video I could recommend unfortunately - It’s mostly me tinkering around with my middle school algebra skills 😅 But I’d recommend looking into videos from Very Pink Knits, Nimble Needles and Ashley Lillis. I believe they all have videos on this topic and are great at explaining knitting techniques 🙂
I also included some notes on how I graded the pattern in my comments above to @lisagreenb1 in case you’re interested. 🙂
@@calicoradio_knits thank you!
@@Sarah77841No problem!
this is soo prettyyyy do u have the pattern by chance ?
Thanks! I used My Favorite Things Knitwear’s pattern for the Blouse No. 1 light as a base and graded the pattern to suit my larger gauge 🙂
Would you please share details of your modifications? How many you cast on ?
Hi Lisa🙂 Since this pattern is from another designer, I don’t think I should share too many details in relation to it - I’m so sorry about that! If you’d like to check out the original pattern, you can find it here: myfavouritethings-knitwear.com/products/blouse-no-1-light-english
@@calicoradio_knits I have it! I am just wondering how to modify it the same way. Did you use a formula or just reduce it by X # of stitches?
@@lisagreenb1 Gotcha, perfect! I graded the pattern using my updated gauge which was 10 sts by 15 rows. Since my new gauge was 1 st per 1 cm, it made grading the stitch counts pretty easy - I just divided the stitch counts given in the pattern by 1.5. Sometimes I had to round these numbers up or down to account for the pattern’s increase rounds (if, for example, I should increase by 4, but the stitch count was only coming out to 3 sts increased). I also had to reduce the number of rounds I worked, but I did that rather ad hoc - I adapted the amount of rounds to reach the updated stitch counts and also just by trying it on. I unfortunately didn’t save my written notes (because I just moved), otherwise I’d send them your way! I hope this helps🙂
@@calicoradio_knits It did - thank you so much ! Your sweater is so lovely and the fit is perfect ❤️
@@lisagreenb1 Thanks!☺️
Well done! If you don’t mind me asking what is the name of the backpack you used?
Thanks! It’s the Active Skin 8 running vest from Salomon 🙂
I'm new to knitting so does anyone mind telling me how she could plan the stripes like that. I don't know how you can plan your project to have a symmetrical pattern like that when given a ball of variegated yarn. Thanks in advance!
Hello! Sorry for my delayed response - In this case, I was able to plan the stripes because the striping pattern was consistent throughout the skein, and I had more than enough yarn. When I finished knitting the body, I unwound the skein until I reached the color I had stopped with, when putting the sleeves to rest. I cut the excess yarn and started knitting with the color which would continue the stripe pattern.
@@calicoradio_knits Ohh, that's what it is! Thank you so much. Love your video and the sweater btw
@@hazelluong5456 No problem, Hazel! Thanks! I'm so happy you enjoyed it ☺
which noro yarn did you use and where did you get it? having trouble finding noro yarn near me but i want to try it so desperately! your blouse turned out so beautifully!
Thank you! I used the yarn called Enka by Noro - Ravelry says it is discontinued actually, so it may have been older stock at my local yarn store. I had a pretty hard time finding Noro options as well! I believe their yarn ‘kakigori’ is a similar composition to the one I used and seems more readily available 🙂
you're in mtl?! :) i arrange knit nights, wanna join in? :) it's on tuesday nights
Awe that’s cool! Where are the meet-ups located?
