It’s an African daisy! -Baygent
Thanks girl!
(This is Baygent, this months artist!!! Y’all give her some love!)
Love those!!
I always grow African Daisys
Sorry, I can't put up with the over talking and not enough showing of what's actually going on. I realize you are the star of the show but all you do is talk. Bye. Mike
Beautiful artwork 💚
I love her. idc what she teaches us or doesn’t. Her smile and positive energy just makes me happy.
Me too, Sweetheart, me too!
They are a beautiful family allowing us to come along on their journey of setting up a new farm. It's wonderful to tag along.
Me too 💗 I just love her energy! Her personality is infectious!
Yes! She could be like “today I am going to read from a math textbook” and I would be like “cool Jess I would love to spend this time with you”
Does anyone else wake up in the morning and check TH-cam incase there is a new Roots and Refuge upload? (Australia) :)
Everyday 😀
Here I do that before going to bed…😁 It’s almost midnight here in the Netherlands, and I was almost on my way to bed.. 😅
Yes!
Everyday
Texas here. I'm up at 5 am checking and go to bed around 11:30 pm checking for last minute post.
The way that baby looked at Jeremiah she was falling in love. It was so cute
Your jumper is fantastic ❤️❤️❤️
Ah Bear is living his best life. I love seeing him running alongside...He is so very happy 🥰
Had a VERY bad day on my farm the other day. made a video n just watched it all the way through. Needed to see the "Worth More" sticker. It made me realize that even though bad days will come, God says I'm worth more. Thanks, Jess.
Yes you are.
@@han_cx245 Thank you.
A bad day on the farm can lead us into a funk for sure. We all have them at some point.Try not to let a bad day affect your self worth. A bad day is just that.. a bad day.. and now we move along in faith and try again tomorrow.
@@maryellenchristina6321 Great advice. Thank you. It helps so much to get a little encouragement from time to time. God bless you.
Sticking with the flower theme, but not the Red bit, you could always call your new Heifer Snowdrop, because they represent Hope 😁
I THINK, the name "Journey" would be an appropriate name because ya'll have and are still continuing on a new and exciting journey to new adventures on the Farm.
Although, Journey was the name of the pot-bellied pig they used to have. She had been their son's I believe.
What about Julia?
I agree and want to thank them for inspiring me to get to growing. I’m retired disabled firefighter and have lost my memory. Jess and Miah has helped me relearn how to grow things. I’d love to send them pics of some of my flowers they helped me grow. I hope they see this and they are making a different all around the world even tho I’m in Tennessee LoL. My Moms favorite poem was Footprints in the sand, as I was growing up I read it literally every day not knowing I would live it when I was on the brink of death and living the poem I understand it much better. It’s true cause I was so weak that I couldn’t look from one minute to the next. I prayed all the way thru my battle and remember praying to God to please take me home and finally I thought I took my last breath. Woke up the next morning and said to God, whats up LoL and what am I supposed to do now. He has a plan all we need to do is trust in that plan and enjoy. I bless you all
That’s a great idea... Thinking even more deeply about it, the calf could be “Hope’s Journey” 1. Because it’s Hope’s calf 2. Because of the faith this family has, they have hope, and because they have “Hope” they have and continue to go on the amazing “Journey” 😇🙌🏼
Yes! From Journey-Pig to Journey-Cow 😁
Jeremiah 29:11("For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.") has been running through my head a lot lately, so when you introduced Hope and then mentioned she had a baby I immediately thought of the baby as "Future", lol.
Love it
This comment is exactly what I needed to know! I’m just starting to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and haven’t read the whole bible yet if I’m honest.. reason I’m thankful for your comment is my son yesterday was feeling very down and hopeless about our situation here at our farm, I kept reminding him that our father has our backs and knows exactly what we need and to always be thankful for what we have now and to give his worries over to God and ask for guidance with his troubled mind.. so I truly appreciate you making this comment and even more I’m so thankful for our father words! Take care friend 🕊
@@redinthethevalley welcome to your very large family in Christ 👑😊❣
Heather Keller thank you so much ♥️
@@redinthethevalley I'm so glad I posted, then! I'm usually too shy to comment and almost didn't. Thank you for letting me know it encouraged you. :)
As a kid who was around pigs briefly, that two person integrity rule is spot on.
Jess: "they must be close though"
Pigs: **looks up** "you think" 🤔😂😂😂
HEY JESS!! I am really needing/wanting at least a Short video of your narratives with the farm animals 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
We are in the process of finding our forever farm. You have been such a blessing in my life in so many aspects of my life.
This is weird to me to have someone I don’t even know be such huge part of who I am today.
The comment section on TH-cam seems not good enough to express the impact you have had on my life, my heart, and mindsets.
You have truly blessed me by helping realize my dreams and helping me give myself permission to dream. And so much more.
The only true way I can thank you is to be the inspiration for others that you are for me and to just say thank you from the bottom of my heart💚 you will always be in my thoughts and prayers and the cause of so much spread of love and joy to everyone that is impacted by your teachings. Again, thank you 🙏
I can feel you are chock full of love and gratitude! Your cup is running over and just reading your post brought tears!! Made me think of my own neglected garden! Thank you❣
@@heatherk8931 your welcome. Thank you for your kind heartfelt words. The garden teaches so many beautiful things of life. 😇
I'm ALWAYS wrong about when our hogs are going to have their babies! When I got into homesteading I had no idea how often I would walk out of my house stare at animals lady parts😂
RIGHT?? haha then trying to explain it to others who do not have farm animals lol
Lol! It's amazing how normal these weird things are now. I even took pictures the day they were breeding to keep a record of when they hooked up🤦😂 I pray I never lose my phone and that whoever finds it never looks through the pics. Also, the comparison pics of rear ends for the future so I can have a better idea of when to expect babies the next go around😬😂
@@brittanybrown273 That literally made me laugh out loud!! SOO relatable!! lol
Channel is growing everyday. So happy for you & glad someone is living this fulfillment through His word.
Did anyone else’s ovaries explode when Jeremiah started talking to the baby. So sweet ❤️
These old things? No ma'am.
@@genevievegreene1595 🤣😆😁
Thank you for explaining why some mothers don't have the desire to raise their babies. I have argued that point with people who think if given the chance that all, 100%, will automatically become mothers of the year. When they don't it's not because they are mean self centered creatures. If they weren't raised by their mom and neither was their mother or any of the other kids around them, it's a unusual thing to do. They have never seen it or experienced it and after generations of this practice the natural urge to do so is low. Things change when humans muddle with what always was.
Yes ... This. We had a cat whose mother died while they were a few days old. So she was hand reared. When she had her own kittens she looked after them for about 3 days and then left them, just as her mother had done. To her, that was how it was done, she didn't know any better, she didn't know that her mum died and that it wasn't the norm. But it unfortunately created a line of animals who were missing that long term maternal instinct.
It’s the reason cows and sheep are dependent on humans they have been bred to over produce milk, wool, and now after hundreds of years they will get sick without human care, ever seen a sheep go uncliped for years they grow so much and have no natural way to get rid it,
My little heart would jump with excitement if you guys were to have another little baby oh my goodness how adorable!!
Hope and Faith just seems like they go together😊
Faith is actually Hopes moms name! 😂
Then maybe she should be Charity 😍
Faith, Hope, Love ❤️ Love is kind of a “red” name
Maybe let your daughter name her to give her ownership when she visits😊
Ginger!! That was my grandmas nickname. She passed away 5 years ago and my grandpa "Red" passed away this month. My moms name is Ruby, also fitting. I vote for Ginger. That made me smile 😇
Okay, love. I NEED the details on your super cute overalls!! :O I adore them.
Yes!!! They're beautiful and look so comfy! Me wants 😍 Let me know if you find some info, Kendra.
I love seeing Bear running beside you. So so happy!
Of course she loves Jeremiah!!! So sweet y’all. Love it all.
Hey, Jess!
Regarding your red calf: Tulips are sometimes red, e.g. Red Princess @ Baker Creek. Tulip is not often used, but Poppy is just as charming.
Tulip is a good name. Or Shani is Hebrew for red, or Poppy or Autumn are lovely red names too
My sister and I are starting our homestead and have been big fans of yours for the last few years :) We have been building our future dreams from your videos. Thank you for sharing your home and family with the world
Scarlett is a sweet name for the baby cow. ❤
Tip: Keep a bag in your cart, so when you need something, like for the eggs, it's already there waiting.
I just Love your Smile! You are So Sweet! It's easy to learn from you because you rush thru what you are teaching! God Bless!! ❤⚘😊
Yay!! I just posted on the Facebook page that I am childless (for the first time in over a year!!) and enjoying some roots and refuge during my rest and relaxation (R&R squared) and now I have a new one! Love from Michigan! ❤️
Oh, I am so happy to see you again. I've missed you so much.
I miss the gardens. Have fun with the animals! I’ll see you when the gardening continues ✌🏼💜
We have a dairy/beef cross that has been bred to a beef bull twice. One calf was skinny/dairy looking and the other was chunky with a beefy build. So no guarantees what you'll get with a cross!
🐎Ross Poldark.... cracks me up every time! He looks so much like his namesake in today's video!
Yeah running around with different women 🙄
I got so offended with that show lol
I vote POPPY for the calf name and so glad to see the goats!
Autumn is a sweet red name 💞
Guys, you keep me sane, motivated and make me smile over in the UK.
I love your dreams are all coming true 🙏😎
We have a baldy beef cow that is 9 years old. We have milked her for about 8 months and we get 14 gallons a week. There are many benefits to milking beef breads. They don't get milk fever or mastitis as easily and milk sharing can be done without having to worry about stripping her out completely.Hope is beautiful. Enjoy her.
Hope and GLORY!
Such a sweet visit with yall and a short one with your California friends.
Hope and GLORY!!
I missed you so much. Just getting internet back after Hurricane Ida made the power lines, in St. Tammany Parish, look like silly string.
Thanks for helping me put on my morning smile 😃 you guys are the best
Wow you read my mind! When you said you were going in to check on the pigs 🐷 I was like NO not by yourself! I should have known you were smarter than that! ❤️ 🌻🌻
Awe Natalie!!
Hi Jess! This was another fun blog. I think Clementine and Doris are just waiting for the time you're not watching them. LOL! Bear is looking so happy running alongside you. I do miss seeing the boys in the videos. I hope they'll be in some soon. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hope and Glory!
*THAT LITTLE FINGER ON THE CHIN IS A CHARM*
Hope and Mercy
What I noticed with beef breeds is that although they don’t produce as much milk, their milk is usually very thick and creamy. So I think Ginny would make a good amount of butter fat and a decent amount of milk, plus be a potential dual purpose raiser for y’all. Im so glad you are keeping a good group of goats, you’re the reason I fell in love with lamanchas ❤️. Bless you Jess and family
It was so good seeing you guys. We love you and are so thrilled for your new adventure!
Loved seeing you guys in the different vlogs! Welcome to the east coast! Natalie, you look beautiful!
Natalie itches a treat seeing you pop in the video. I haven't seen your vlogs pop up and was please to see you've had a beautiful baby! Enjoy your journey ❣
Thank you for my Miriam moment!👍
When you were carrying the eggs, it reminded me of a really cool ‘egg apron’ that I saw on Amazon today…..it had twelve little individual pockets for carrying eggs…….with a cute chicken print.
Oh lordy, pig babies and goat babies galore! Yay, nothing cuter on the homestead, can't wait! (Well, except maybe Miah holding a baby, that was pretty dang cute too! 😉)
Bear is looking good. The stickers are cute. My roomate has his owner sawmill that he built 30 something years ago. His brother cut most the wood for his house. We have made chicken coops, hunting shacks, picnic tables, etc. I love it when he uses it - love the smell of fresh lumber.
RUBY!!! 🐂🐄💕
Love the new stickers and the leather journal! Would love to get a tank, t-shirt, and hoodie eventually! :)
Someone HAS to have said this already in the long list of comments - but Hope, Faith and Charity for your 3 cows.
I’m shook at the amount of progress you all have made! Good job! I’m so glad you have a garden again
Fun jumpsuit Jess!
Thank You so much for the stickers you sent me!!!💕
We have pigs. They are so smart and very clean animals. They poop and pee in the same area. We love our pigs!
Thanks for starting my morning 🌄 with love ❤. Jessica you are such a positive influencer on TH-cam. Blessings 🙌 to you and the family. I have two red heads, boy and girl. Three brunettes. The gingers are definitely unique. I love Ginger (Ginny) for your calf.
I've been Devotion binging...thank you, Jess, for sharing your heart. Mine is now full and I've been ruminating on it a good part of the day. I've been in Eph. 3 again...can't get enough of it. "Infinitely more"
Hey, they were at the Rhodes a few days ago!
Oh, you know I vote for Rose. I would be so very honored. 😍😀 Rosebud is also a good choice.
I digg the name Poppy for the calf Ahhh I'm so excited for both of them to be on yalls farm
Previously it felt like you were gardening on a big scale and farming on a small scale, but this is farming on a big scale, lovely to see the farm growing into what you have dreamed about
I am trying so hard to get my fiance to move out of state so i can homestead. It is way too expensive in California. You are living my dream.
Oh...Jess.. I'm spending more $$ in stickers... Can't live without them.. Not sure where they are all going? But can't resist! Love them!
I've used exactly 2. Then I felt bad, so I re-ordered those 2. Smh. Thank God she finally came out with the magnets!
You can put the kids on her when she is in the stanchion or put her in aa head gate so they can nurse. Usually only takes a few days
You can get your at home lumber graded by a certified Lumber mill grader with the official stamp and all so you can use it for building or resale for building
I appreciate your Christian family!!!!! I am implementing a lot of your tips for the garden. God Bless Your Family and Farm!!!!!!!!!!
You should totally go with Rose! 🤣
AH yeah, farm life, it's been to many years for me, but I do remember all the chores that needed doing. And I loved it. You look & sound so happy, so glad for you and your family.
We just did the same with our goats, we put two bucks in with all our does, Ted and Boaz. I am not into ugly breeding, but this year we are actually doing that. We are mainly breeding for our freezer and for goat jerky. We mainly have dairy goats, but we have bred in for meat as well because we enjoy the flavor and taste of goat so ours are bred for a multi purpose here.
Ruby is another fabulous red name.
My cousin milled every piece of board in their house. It’s taken them a couple years to build
I see Faith stickers in the future (she’s so beautiful) and how cool would a sticker of Bear be with “a farm girls best friend” quote of sorts? I’m so happy y’all are enjoying living in my beautiful SC 😍😍
Blessings to all!
Bear is living his best life! Sweet boy.💗
A few months ago I watched a vid where a guy got HIS milled wood inspected so they could use it on his property to build. It is possible... but not for immediate use. You mill it, stack it to dry... they come inspect it and you are good to go. Most people just don't think far enough ahead.... but right now I think you CAN think far enough ahead. It is a thing to get your wood inspected and marked.
So sweet, waiting on all the new life.. So nice to see Natalie and fam visiting y’all too.
Thank you for the awesome stickers! Red name suggestion for the calf...Scarlet.
I can’t wait to have pigs of my own. 🥰
Jess I love how beer never lives your side. Hope he has vitamins for his bones so he can run without damaging himself. 😇🐕
Jess & Miah, Joel Salatin has addressed the structural lumber thing. He found in his area he could use his own lumber as long as he went up in specs. For example if a 2x4 was required, he could use a 2x6. Also, @Red Tool House - Homestead channel did a whole series on milling your own structural lumber and getting it inspected! th-cam.com/video/YJDieWQwdcw/w-d-xo.html
thank you Jess, for this beautiful video. Again and again you rise up and shine and that is so good for many people. It was a sad day for me today and then when I see so many beautiful things from you I am immediately happy again. Thank you for always cheering me up and just bring a good mood and thank you for your valuable work💚
Absolutely, every morning before I get out of bed.
Loved the video! Especially the mamma goat info!
OMGosh!!! That beautiful baby going to Miah was adorable! If you didn't watch to the end and missed it... well... that is easy to fix.
Thank you So much more about the information about All your garden which contains a lot of animals are VERY VERY VERY beautiful together and a lot of VIDEO to see 🇺🇸🇺🇸🌵🌵✌😿😾💏💏❤💚✌💪🌼🌻👑💏🎓👒🌸💮🍁🌾🌿🌷🏀🏇⛳🎾⛸🏌🏆🏍⛷🎫🎁
Oh Jess you have to do a photo shoot with the new cow when you get her similar to the pregnancy one you did with the goats. They would also make deadly stickers.
Thank you so much for making videos continually even when you have too much to do. I love that we are a priority to teach all the neat stuff you talk about! THANK YOU!!!!!
Love seeing the daily chores and getting updates on your sweet animals! Thank you!
I love seeing bear run. Happiest dog on earth.
Saffron. Saffy for short. Rare, red and beautiful. ❤️
I thought you were waiting to be sure the big barn was up before breeding after last time. Looking forward to how this plays out.
It's been a year since I have my sweatshirt with classroom picture, still my favorite! amazing quality and comfort.
I was enjoying watching Miah with the baby, then it cut off. Dang. Well I just LOVE babies. I have five kids and fifteen grands and one great. My mother loves them just as much as I do! 💖
I can sure relate to that!
Great choice keeping her! I love the name Ruby. Good luck 🍀
Just found you guys and you sure make watching a video pretty entertaining and informative, thanks for sharing
