Thank you for this- I'm teaching a seminar on hospitality at my Church in Wales this evening and as a massive extrovert, I needed to balance out everything that I was saying. God bless

    Amen!
Thank you for pointing out that it's not just a command for women!
And I love that they told you to wash their dishes--that's actually normal here in the Philippines.
I think people get burned out when they try to be like Martha Stewart rather than like Jesus. Our guests don't need to feel impressed by us, they need to feel loved by us.
Also, we ought to welcome lost people into our homes. When Levi AKA Matthew got saved, the first thing he did was throw a party. He invited his tax collector friends and Jesus. Let's invite our unsaved friends and Jesus to our gatherings.
    Finally...
“When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:12-14)

Yes, we agree that practicing biblical hospitality also includes inviting non-Christian friends and neighbors into our home. Thank you for pointing that out.

Thank you for this video! I have hesitated watching your full Biblical Hospitality webinar with Rosaria Butterfield, because 4 of the 5 of us in our household are introverts, most of those quite strongly -- and I wasn't sure how to deal with that in regards to biblical hospitality! But what you've said here has been very helpful, and seems so obvious now that I'm a bit chagrined to have not already thought about it that way, lol. (I think sometimes that's a mark of truth!) I'm very grateful for your teaching overall, and this one in particular! 🙌😊❤

This is very helpful! God has given us (very chronically ill, childless husband and wife) an extra measure of health this year, so we've been trying to decide how to best steward it. Church attendance and Bible study were top of the list, and then we've tried adding in a few small group meetings and visiting once or twice at friends' homes, but we were realizing it might even be time to try to have someone over! Praise God! Thanks for your timely thoughts to two calm, quiet introverts. ❤️
We've been kicking around the idea of a monthly casual game night where the high schoolers and college kids can just come crash and eat. 😄 Thanks for reminding me (again!) that the house really doesn't need to be gorgeous to be God-honoring... especially to this age group! 😂
For those of you who have younger people over often, we're in an apartment and have a couch and 4 chairs. 🤔 Any thoughts on additional flexible seating? Thank you!
I appreciate your work, Elizabeth, and am praying for you and all our friends who listen. May God bless and use you through this holiday season and grow you in the coming year. 🙏
