    Used the Meike with a R5C and a Sigma 18-35 on a few shoots that went from full blasting sunlight to low-light night scenes, and the autofocus was completely OK in all situations, so I'd definitely say, the filter does not obstruct AF functions in any way. Also, didn't have any color issues in post in PrPro or Davinci, so it is a huge deal

      Just ordered the R5 for mostly stills but some 4k video. I have also been shooting with the C100mk2 for several years and absolutely love that camera. I have several Canon EF L lenses and look forward to using them on the R5. My normal lens on the C100mk2 is the Canon EF-S 18-135 with the PZ-E1 power zoom adapter - great general use combo. So, how has the R5 and Meike adapter worked out with the R5?

    Be aware
    Yes this is a great alternative to the expensive Canon VND. But do be aware I did purchase this adapter along with a new EOS R6 and Tamron 24-70mm. This adapter does not work on lens with stabilization and the other stabilization lenes that I've tested. It shakes randomly at times or when you hit the shutter button and took me a while to figure out what was causing the issue. I almost returned the camera and then the lens but once I took my setup to a camera store, they used a normal RF to EF adapter and the shaking stopped. I figured this would be the case because the shaking stops when you turn the lens stabilization switch off. At first I panicked and thought it was the camera's IBIS, hence why I almost returned it. Just saving you guys some future frustration with similar setups. I do still use it with non stabilization lenses.

      Thanks for this message!!! I have that exact same issue with my R6, using that adapter and a Sigma 24-70 and I have been very worried that the lens broke internally at some point. And I was super disappointed with the stabilization. Sadly the price difference with the Canon adapters is HUGE. I bought 2 of the Meike. One for the R6 and one for the R7.

      It’s a lack of sync stabilisation issue. The ibis reacts to counteract the movement while the lens is already stabilising some of it, which in turn makes the ibis overshoot.

    I recently bought the EFTE adapter to mate EF lenses to E-mount cameras for my FX30. The E-mount version has a switch on the adapter for either CDAF or PDAF modes. Unfortunately, it is completely unusable in PDAF mode but the camera will be able to communicate with the lenses in CDAF mode (disappointing). In order to figure this out, I took the setup to my local camera shop where we put a bunch of different EF lenses on the mount and had the same very disappointing results. None of the six lenses we tried (of different manufacturers and ages) worked in PDAF mode.

    the only issue and same with all on offer can only use EF lenses , and my only EF lens is the 16-35 L which i use for astro and low light so need a light pollution filter which i don't think they or canon make. Breakthrough filters have all the filters but the adaptor is still not for sale for over a year not sure what has happened to them. i have got the clip in filters from case which give same solution just unfortunately no variable and no polarizer. So I'm still hoping breakthrough come through but i may just have saved up enough for RF glass by then so wont be able to use lol

  • @Photonees
    @Photonees 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What I find stupid, is that they added glass in the clear filter, just give it with an open hole... On the other hand, it protects the sensor when you dont turn it off when changing lenses. Still... an extra layer of glass that can catch dust and finger prints if you change the filter, might mess up shots. Have the adapter recently btw

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This isn't physically possible. The reason there are adapters like this and speedboosters is because of the flange distance of mirrorless cameras. We need an adapter with distance in it to use EF lenses (made for DSLRs) because mirrorless cameras don't have the mirror box. This allows manufacturers to add other things in the adapter.

    Question - using CLOG3, f1.8 sigma lens (another recommendation from you). Using fastest exposure 1.8 and ISO800 indoors. Way too hot, so what do u recommend I adjust? I know u say to keep ISO at 800 for clog3, and I need 1.8 for shallow dof.
    Should I use the VND, even though indoors? It's a florescent lite room I can't really adjust or turn off/lower.

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I almost always have the ISO at the base (800 in Clog3). Shutter speed at double the frame rate and then chose aperture based on preferred depth of field. Change the exposure using NDs or lighting. If your lens is wide open and it is super bright then you might need a heavier ND filter or stop the lens down a bit. @@Josh_Sattin Thanks, yeah, I'm gonna go the ND route. With that nice Meike adapter, not too much of a hassle. I just wasn't sure what lowering the ISO to 400 or so would do to the image quality in CLOG3.

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lowering the ISO to 400 to darken a brighter exposure will actually shift more information to the shadows. Which I know is actually counterintuitive. Better to stop down the lens. For more info on that, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/AWzqLE64TzI/w-d-xo.html

    Wish they made one that would work with RF lenses

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too, but this isn't physically possible. The reason there are adapters like this and speedboosters is because of the flange distance of mirrorless cameras. We need an adapter with distance in it to use EF lenses (made for DSLRs) because mirrorless cameras don't have the mirror box. This allows manufacturers to add other things in the adapter.

    • @slimhim
      @slimhim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Josh_Sattin Yea, I get the limitations, I still am wishing for it tho 😂 Also, not too long ago it wasn’t “physically possible” to have a mirrorless camera the way we do now. It may take a while but hopefully one day, while I’m still a photographer, it’ll happen 😊

    Why cant I buy a built in VND Filter that IS NOT an Adapter.. I want to just shoot my EOS-M Lenses with a built in but its simply not available.. there is an opening in the market for somebody!

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't get that because of the flange distance. Mirrorless lenses need to be close to the sensor. The only reason we can get ND adapters is that we are using DSLR lenses that need that extra space so they can add a filter in there.

    Massive unusable color cast with the original canon vnd when you shut it down. Almost non wide open. Hardly non with the mike.
    Build of the canon ist superior though. And does not sit as tight. So I have to disagree.
