I played this music to my 85-year-old. She was sleeping in the hospital and nursing home . When I went back to see her, she was sitting in her wheelchair ,there's my oldest daughter, called out my name. I was so happy and blessed that she remembered everything ❤️. Played Johnny Taylor and dancing in the streets New Orleans music 🎶. She was moving her head side way. She asked for more ice water from dehydrated for almost a month or more. ❤ She is talking. Enjoy your elderly parents because you are going to miss them when they are gone.

I loved this song the minute I heard it on the radio in 1973. I went out & bought it as soon as I saved enough of my allowance. Seems like I remember you could get a 45 rpm single for about 45 cents. I was probably the only white girl in my school who'd bought this record, but I didn't care, because I knew good music when I heard it. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for rhythm & blues, & this song is a classic. Of course, I love Johnnie Taylor's soulful voice, but I also love it when the female backup singers come in - like icing on a cake.

If the music you listen to the most doesn’t invoke you to think and feel deeply about yourself.....your life....to face what reality is for you and inspire you to be your best and overcome all adversity......then that explains why you might be lost and confused about yourself. Music like this song and or what is massively referred to as “real music”, was predominantly produced in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s because one of the reasons, it was practical to learn how to play an instrument, especially becoming a self taught instrumentalist. The devotion to producing, creating and making music was greater than the desire for fame and money, these artists put their heart and soul into being the best and created volumes of timeless, priceless music, so vast that it seems like they completed what music is and ‘should be’, it’s not old school, or whatever category the industry wants to label it.......no it’s simply what music is suppose to be, why, because it’s The Best of humwoman expression musically, the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and some 90’s......and a little bit of 2000’s. That’s my perspective.

His lyrics are even more relevant in 2023. People see you with a good thing and they want to take it away. Jealousy started a war in the 3rd heaven.

Johnny Taylor, AL Green, and Marvin Gaye, amongst others, were tops in the early 1970's. Once Johnny Taylor made "Disco Lady," he became one of my all time favorites. It reigns now as my favorite song of all time.

This is the music My uncle use to play on our trips from Minneapolis to Milwaukee and Chicago and gary Indiana in the early 70's and my grandmother always would have me go to mr.crowns record store and have me buy these songs and copy them word for word!! Those are memories of a better time and a awkward kid learning the ways of life thru some of the greatest black singers and colorful characters of our neighborhoods!! "STAY GROOVIN AND REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES!! ✌️
