  • This week I go through how I built a EQP5 kit from DIY Recording Equipment. It was a pretty easy build and I will be back with sound examples in the next video.
    Check them out at

I screwed up the sound this week, sorry about that.
Music in the background is from an upcoming release by Iron Pike, recorded mixed and mastered by me. Check them out at:

I think your video drove crowds to diy.re. The price has shot up on the EQP5.

What else do i need to use that kind of unit? Bc i dont see any "input".

You need a 500 rack to put the module in. That unit has all the connections and power supply.

Cool vid! I see it goes into some sort of rack. How does it connect? I'm accustomed to stomp boxes that take 1/4" jacks, so this rack mounted stuff is very new to me.

This one goes into a 500-series rack. It's a smaller alternative to 19" rack stuff :)

As KarlSimonOscarFrisk says you got to have a 500-series rack or lunch box to put it in. There are a lot different alternatives for this, with the original being from API.

That’s right. It’s rack mounted gear (“500 series”). You just have to get a special power supply to run these pieces.
To use this stuff with your guitar, you need something to convert your amp signal to “line level ” to go into the rack, then convert it back to go back into the amp. It’s totally doable with your effect loop.
That way you can use something like a high end compressor for example to modify your amp tone using the effect loop, instead of a stomp box compressor that’s only acting on the guitar signal. The 500 format offers endless gadgets:

Radial makes all the gear you need to convert your signals.

Wow $200 for an eq? I'm really cheap, are the schematics downloadable? I have most of the parts in stock.
