As a woman who has tried to have babies for 14 years with my husband and endured 6 painful miscarriages, finally ending it with having uterine cancer and having to have a hysterectomy at age 33…I would actually be open to such a reality. I do have qualms about this type of birthing if possible though. In my opinion a whole new race of humans with way different “wiring” than traditional human beings will be created. Will this cause adverse effects? Will there be tragic consequences? The lines of ethics seem blurred in this context. I guess this is something that won’t happen to the degree depicted in this film within my lifetime. I guess my best bet is sticking to adoption. Sincerely, a barren woman wishing for my own children.
Dear MagnoliaMuse. I am so sorry having your own children hasn't been possible for you. It seems that you did everything you could to make that dream come true. I want to believe that there is a way to find peace for yourself in this matter, in some way. Maybe it really is an adoption, that you are meant to take care of a soul biologically from another family but who would add so much joy and light to your life and vice versa. It might be everything you need❤️
When someone gets desperate, others call that bussines and big profit. Maybe we can have a wave of desperate women to whom we offer a "solution". I am deeply sorry for your struggles and your losses and I hope you get better and findbpeace bcs you are not less of a person or a women becouse of that. All the best to you!
The movie is about the pregnancy, not babies... everyone who wants a baby can (fertility problems aside). No more or less woman would have children if this became a thing, you still need to want to become a parent. It's a reaction to feminism, "woman need a career" and babies can come later or never... they explain in the movie how that is problematic for the future and birth rates declined to much so they came with a solution to give eoman both. Not that i agree with it. But problem 1 is feminism.
@SL-gz3dy you must be a guy. How can you separate babies from pregnancy unless your an android. I think to do that you are erasing women's personal identity. Viva la difference!
This doesn't make baby a commodity. These are still Humans being birthed, only the gestation is being done externally, without the mother having to go through the absolute hardships, pains and risks of pregnancy and childbirth, which I think is great ! Personally, I am totally for this technology. This technology should be developed asap as it can allow women who wants kids but is not willing to go through the hardships and risks of pregnancy and childbirth to have kids without the need to go pregnant and give birth herself.

A really great movie. I really liked the concept and the meaning. A sure fire look into how disconnected society has become and just how dehumanizing it can be in the near future. In the efforts of making more advanced AI to take over human functions while we humans function more as emotionless droids. Its unfortunate these movies dont get the coverage and support they deserve but Im glad I at least got to see it on youtube. A movie to really make you think and say ah ha!
the walking treadmill in the movie is a non-motorized solution with optional desk and stand-up aid / standing frame from the German company „Walkolution“. Their sales partner in (North) America is „Woodway“ (with much more different products).
Just watched this film I've made my own headcanon that this film is set in the same futuristic world and timeline as swan song on apple tv with Mahershalla, Naomi Harris and Glen Close. Pod generation focuses on life, birth and the commodification of those things while swan song focuses on death, sickness, cloning after the commodification of those.
The scary thing is, im pretty sure this is what the future will look like. Just heardvon the radio the other day they have now created a viable 14 day pregnancy without the use of sperm or an egg
Its scary because we have so many children and babies suffering in this world(abusive parents, trafficking etcetcetc.) And then they want to create another baby farm...makes me sick to my stomach! JUST WHY?! Humans only know how to create more problems. It's depressing.
Not viable though. It's not possible to grow an actual baby out of it. They did manage to have cells act like cells from an embryo so they can study it without harming an actual embryo. They do this to better understand early miscarriages and abnormalities in an embryo.
As someone who is terrified of pregnancy and childbirth, I think we need such an Artificial Womb Technology asap, that can allow women who wants biological kid/kids but do not want to go through the extreme hardships, risks and pains of pregnancy and childbirth, to have kids by gestating their fetuses artificially in an Artificial Womb Device, without having to go pregnant and give birth herself. I think this will be a huge positive step for humanity.
The perfect movie for anyone who is struggling to fall asleep. If you do persist through you'll find yourself waiting for something to happen while the credits roll. 0/10 Would not recommend.
