This video seemed to assume people who vote third party align with either of the main parties. That's not necessarily true. Not all third party votes are "protest votes".

@@NomadJournalistNews I feel the same way. When one side's promise is that the other is bad and the other says the same thing and no one is offering anything concrete or good, there has to be a third option. Also, in a country full of billions with multiple higher education institutions and multiple branches of military, how is it that only 2 people can run for presidential parties at any given time?

One could say that all votes that didn't lead to a win was a wasted vote so everyone who voted Hilary in 2016 wasted their vote.

It's called agenda setting, and this video by NBC is example A. When the press chooses to continuously tell people that third parties can't win rather than give them fair coverage, the audience will regurgitate it. Big parties can pay for ads, and the reason Ross Perot did so well in '92 was because he could pay for them too, even though he was an independent. It's the ultimate irony; A free press is considered the bedrock of democracy, but when it only follows the money it unapologetically perpetuates plutocracy.

    • @colechapman6976
      @colechapman6976 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Well to be fair, most 3rd candidates are discredited because they take away the votes of actual candidates. The reason they can't succeed is that two major candidates are much more recognizable than a bunch of candidates. The small-time candidates steal the votes of the bigger candidate who might lose to the opposition because of that. So they are spoiler candidates in that they spoil your major party candidates' chances of winning by sapping votes that would've gone to them but instead went to a third candidate. While it might be sad, and unfortunate, it's the system that we have.

I mean i could agree on some things but many of ur claims need some proper concrete evidence
      For instance
Press taking money to suppress third parties.
Being a former third party pro
I used to believe that but with many interviews the mainstream media has tsken of the third party candidates
I do think they were given a podium
Information can rasily spread its social media era of free floating info
      It all boils down to
Third parties just inherently have less within this system

I'm sure that if people looked at election law in their home states they might find that buying lawn signs "YEARS" before you attempt to get the "ballot signatures" necessary to run for a particular office might not be illegal. But in this guys case "never having run for or being elected to a lower office" probably didn't help his cause. You could say the same thing anbout Cynthia Nixon as well.
SHE had name recognition from TV shows and movies over the previous 20 years, but she had never run for or been elected to a lower office anywhere in the state. Previos experience at lower levels of publicly elected office is what I look for most. I don't vote for ANYBODY that had never been elected to a lower office previously.

If you take 5% from either one, it's a win to help bring the top 2 closer to the 3rd party. That way, if one of the 3rd parties makes one lose or win, it's moves the candidate closer to the party they wanted to win. *It's small win, but at least it makes the top two, listen to the 3rd party. 5%.*

@@tattoomaniacsalina Your assuming a bad doctor or a lousy tattoo artist will stay in business once word of their poor service is out.
As for corporations being evil, the only reason why corporations are evil is because of government subsidies and bailouts.
If they know that the government will give them taxpayer money to bail them out because they are "too big to fail," then there is no reason for them to be responsible in running their business. CEOs and board members will continue giving themselves salaries that are 1,000 times their average employees with million dollar bonuses and golden parachutes should the company get in financial straits.
Food stamps and Medicare benefit the Walton family (owners of Walmart) more than any other family in the world.
They don't pay their employees a livable wage. As a result, many of their employees turn to government assistance to sustain their needs.
Where do these employees spend these food stamps and fill their taxpayer funded medications?
      At WALMART!
In essence, Walmart is getting rewarded by taxpayer money for paying their employees a low wage or not giving them enough hours for benefits.
Cut all that funding and soon their employees and other people that used these taxpayer funded programs won't be purchasing as much from their store.
This doesn't just apply to Walmart, but EVERY company.
When money revenue goes down, companies will realize that they need to cut back on CEO salaries and give more to employees.
A CEO making $40 million a year buys a few pillows every year. 2.4 million well-paid employees will buy at least 2.4 million pillows a year.
Suddenly, it makes sense to the bigwigs that in order to increase sales, they need to pay their employees a decent wage.
This will vary from different places in the country. A universal minimum or livable wage is vastly different across the country.
The cost of living in Chicago and New York City is astronomically higher than the cost of living in Donna, or Harlingen.
All a federal mandated wage does is eliminate small businesses and THAT is how you will allow Walmart and Amazon to have a complete monopoly.
As for having non FDA approved drugs in your food, simply choose not to buy that and buy food you trust. No one is forcing you to buy products with MSG, Gluten, or GMO products.
But if someone else trusts it and wants to consume that, let them.
Who are you to force your own fears and anxieties on the rest of the world.
