    In this tutorial, I'll demonstrate embellishing digital art prints using a clear Acrylic Gel Medium. Embellishing adds value to a print by giving it an added dimension of depth and texture you can feel with your fingers.

    Fascinating and looks pretty easy. But can't believe we didn't get to see the finished product after it dried!!

    I have been painting on and adding medium texture to my prints for nearly ten years - I just happened upon this video. Thank you so much for sharing. For me digital painting is the first step - I like the added embellishments.

    Good on ya for being so thoroughly sharing. We digital artists sometimes struggle to keep the momentum going, and any knowledge we can share towards creating marketable artwork is a great gift. You are obviously dedicated to succeeding and I admire that.

    This was great! Exactly what I learned years ago in photography school but had forgotten about it. I will definitely be using this technique.

    I'd love to try this! Do you still use these products & this method? I only ask because the video is at least 3 years old, and I really couldn't find a sample of this through your Etsy link.
    Thanks for all the awesome tutorials. I'm a traditional artist, but switched to digital 3 years ago. I've learned a tremendous amount from you! Keep up the great work! - JR

    thank you- this is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. My only difference is my print is on a huge canvas.

    I also use this technique on canvas (ink-jet) prints. For canvas, there is a coating that you use to essentially seal the pigment/ink to the canvas so that the gel sits on top of it. I really need to know how to embellish additionally with acrylic paints and mixed media. Do you have any videos that cover painting on top of the print?

    • @sheltondk43
      @sheltondk43 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What is the coating? I have ink-jet prints on which I would like to use this technique.

    I'm wondering how this would go with an inkjet print if fixative and a sealing spray was used first... hmmm... you're giving me ideas... :-D Thanks for doing what you do.

    Do you dip the brush in water first before you mix with the gel? thanks!

      In other videos, they do dip the brush in some water before the gel.

    Hey, this was great and very informative. I was wondering if this could work on canvas prints? I'm a photographer and I take portraits. I have been able to turn my photo's into digital oil paintings... once I print on canvas, i want to add this to give it that real oil painting feel. Would it work with canvas?

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It works on canvas as well. Just about any surface.

    • @marka9200
      @marka9200 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to spray something on the canvas? Thanks :)

      Mark A I think from what I've read, you need archival canvas. I think it's coated first but I could be wrong.

    So when you put the acrylic get medium on it, how do you sell that digital art on etsy? Do you have to make another listing? Or same listing just add a photo with the medium? Or would that be too confusing for the shopper?

    I applied this (a very thin coat) to a photo printed on slate and it did not dry clear :(((
    Any ideas why??

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Hol ly Would It takes time to dry. A week to a month or longer depending on how thick you applied it. The other reason could be that you chose a Matte gel or a gel that is Semi-Opaque rather than fully transparent. Gloss is typically more transparent.
