Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 "Difference" and "Diversity" is another name of BABYMETAL. Especially coming new album, a "concept album", must have an underlying story to be told whether explicitly or implicitly and 10 songs therein must tell us 10 different chapters in the story.
As an eyewitness at the venue on Jan. 28/29, I guarantee that the real live audio with Kami Band had more power and heaviness to stir your feelings. (This studio audio is good, too though) High and low undulation of Su's voice with maturity and sharp moves by Moa and Momoko disordered my emotions 😱. Although I was too mesmerized to digest everything at the live debut, I finally grasped its artistry as a whole by this MV. (Kami Band was on the east stage that was not captured in this MV)
I am looking forward to seeing the live performance of this song again in two-day shows on April 1/2 in Yokohama. We are supposed to know who the official new member, the 3rd girl, will be.

Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
A new single is coming this month along with album release so stay tuned for more.
L&D is another great pop rock ballad with beautiful SuMetal vocals piercing into our hearts. Love the J-pop sound and the nostalgic vibes mixed with the edm sound. Here's some info about this song:
_"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is "LIGHT AND DARKNESS" and this 4th pre-release digital single “Light and Darkness” centers around this theme. Because light exists, darkness also exists._
_And because darkness is present, there is also a world that shines._
_During the night when light and darkness intersect, what we seek after poisoned with darkness awaits a world filled with strong love. As the door opens, is it hope or despair that awaits us? The song expresses the duality in everything and the way things are perceived and interpreted differ depending on each person’s point of view."_
This was a world premiere at Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND" (maybe the next single), Momoko Okazaki is the third backup dancer performing here and possibly the new official member starting next month. MoaMetal once again adding the backing vocals and all of them dancing with the full trio formation.
If you saw only two of them performing is because officially the only front women of this group are SuMetal and MoaMetal, during METAL KINGDOM official MV (the opener of the live concert) and THE LEGEND (the ender) there's only the two of them, throughout the rest of the show, unless is a SuMetal solo or Black Babymetal song, is performed with the third backup dancer, but like i said that might change since next month when announcing a new official third member.
Here's the lyrics translated with some help. Thanks for sharing this. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥
    Lyrics : MK-METAL / TAKEMETAL
    Music : TAKEMETAL

    [Lyrics]
Even the reality buried in the snow of sadness
Even these hands that have been dyed red by mistakes
    Take me to oblivion
To an ideal world filled with love
    Open that door
    Come on Ah, Ah
Being poisoned, falling into a dream
A night where light and darkness seek and play together
Drowning in a sea of rhythm
Even my memories are being destroyed
This love is strong and strong
    I'm sure it won't stop
This love is strong and strong
    Never let go
Let me out. Let me out.
    let's jump out
hit by the rain of joy
Let me go. Let me go.
    Right now
    Let's dance the night away
    Take me to oblivion
Take off the mask filled with lies
    Right now
Being poisoned, falling into a dream
A night where light and darkness seek and play together
Drowning in a sea of rhythm
Even my memories are being destroyed
This love is strong and strong
    I'm sure it won't stop
This love is strong and strong
    Never let go
In the night when sorrow overflows
    Keep this love warm
    Open the door now
    Come on Ah, Ah
    Even my dreams are poisoned
A night where hope and despair seek and play together
    Ring out forever
    Even my heart is filled
This love is strong and strong
    I'm sure it won't stop
This love is strong and strong
    Never let go

Great reaction. The arena was split through the middle by the walkway with the moving stage the girls spent most of the concert on - they like to get as close to as many of the audience as they can. At either end of the walkway was a main stage - the Kami Band were on the east stage, they had thrones on the west.
This was the official video so of course the focus was entirely on the girls - the DVD from the show should show more of what else was going on along with the Kami Band (people who were there have said they were rocking out and dancing round enjoying themselves too).
The third girl was one of the 'Avengers' who have been supporting Su and Moa dancing in the third spot since 2019. The Avenger in this was Momoko - Riho is now a solo artist, Kano has her own group. Momoko has been the Avenger for the last nearly 30 concerts since 2020.
At the end of these concerts they teased that a new member would be revealed at their next concerts on 1st and 2nd April ... whether that will be Momoko we do not know yet, but most people seem to be thinking she is the most likely person.
This is definitely a song that leans a long way towards the pop end of the BABYMETAL sliding scale, further than most I'd say (so it has taken a while and several listens to grow on me). However, this was the studio audio and I have read the live version is ... different (the Kami Band's instrumentals are more prominent than those of the studio recording). We can only wait for the DVD to hear the live audio and see how much it differs of course.
'Monochrome' is my own favourite of the 4 songs released so far.
I feel this album, concept aside, is highlighting Su-metal's vocals more than anything and possibly more than has been the case in the previous albums - they each had maybe three or four songs that really did that, this one so far every song has done it.

@@michelm.6033 I don't think you said much wrong. On being manufactured - yes and no ... put together by Koba (not by Amuse so much since they wouldn't have agreed if it had not been under the umbrella of SG) and not based on some sort of formula, based on Koba's love of metal and his spotting Su's potential to do something new.
I may have clarified the SG sub units were like after school clubs and there were maybe half a dozen or so of them, but Babymetal was put together by Koba around Su-metal and her talents and was the only one that outgrew SG and separated to become an independent band.
I don't know why some people are so hung up on who writes the songs, nearly everybody has songs written for them. Anyway, Kobametal has a hand in writing all or most of the songs (bit like Steve Harris with Iron Maiden - I don't think Bruce Dickinson writes them).

@@Grington300 Yes I can always count on you, not just for your knowledge, but your eloquence. Communication is the last of my skills. I’ve always been a bit of a hammer, but I’m trying to respect Moa and be a better person. Frankly, it rarely happens and is supremely difficult for me. Therefore, I try to shout up and listen to those more knowledgeable like you. A well written statement, and Bruce Dickinson, or specifically Iron Maiden was perhaps my favorite band of my youth. So did you actually remember that, or was it a general comment. Sometimes, even you surprise me!

@@michelm.6033 Thanks, most of my career involved making people understand what I was writing or saying (or trying to make them understand). Maybe it was a subconscious memory with you and Iron Maiden - it wasn't deliberate anyway, I'm not that clever - but I see similarities between Steve Harris and Koba (apart from Koba not being on stage) in the respective song writing processes.

This one definitely leans more towards the j-pop end of their repertoire, which has caused a bit of consternation in the fanbase, but Babymetal have always been an experimental and genre-defying group, so doing something like this is totally on brand for them.
This performance was filmed at the recent concerts that took place in Tokyo at the end of January. The Kami Band were there, but they were at one end of the arena on a stage, while the girls were performing on the round moving platform that moved up and down the arena. Keep in mind that the Kami Band AREN'T part of Babymetal, they are a live performance backing band only and they don't play on the albums; Babymetal is just Su and Moa, which is why only they feature in the videos and in promotional material.
Regarding the third girl, that is the one remaining Avenger (backup dancer) Momoko Okazaki, who has been filling in in the third dancer slot for the last couple of years. It's been strongly hinted that she will become the official third member of Babymetal at the upcoming concerts in Yokohama on the 1st and 2nd of April.

This is an MV and because the Kami Bsnd only plays the LIVE concerts and are rarely if ever part of the studio recordings they are not shown because it is studio vocals and instrumentals.
The Pro Shot LIVE videos (which include LIVE vocals and instrumentals) prominently feature The Kami’s because The Kami’s are actually playing the LIVE show.

I see a pattern here. Most metalheads seem to vibe with the part after the chorus the most (the one with double bass drum), and feel that the song could be a little heavier. They also miss the band, and notice that the focus has shifted from Metal guitars to Su's vocals. And I must say, I agree. And I think there are very few fans that wouldn't agree that the band has deserved more spotlight. I like all of the new songs, but I hope that there are at least a few heavier ones on the album as well (I also wouldn't mind a guitar solo or two).

Great reaction guys. I think what you are looking for is the opening to the Legend S show (Su-metal's 20th birthday celebration) over the top theatrics, a bit of Babymetal lore. BM - Intro to Legend S:Baptism XX - on Daily motion. You will have to filter the video if you want to react to it, but it's worth a watch #notacult 🤘🦊🤘

The most impactful of the so far released songs from the new album.
My very first exposure to this song was at Makuhari Live on the last January 29th in the Super MOSH’SH PIT!! With Kami-Band's crazily spirited performanse, amazing choreo with some Japanese tastes/Butoh texture, and SU-METAL’sSirenic Voice matured to possess redoubled lethality as well, the melancholy but intense beautiful melody line gave me goosebumps from the intro. Knockout at first sight/first listen, BABYMETAL’s killer masterpiece in ages for me.
The official digital release was far less impactful than the live, but I was able to follow the lyrics carefully. My personal impression is that it is not just a simple love song. Rather, it sounds to me, in keeping with the concept of the new album, the song is a crying out of a sad but dearest, can’t-give up-on love in the center of this irredeemable one world heading for ruin.
If the Monochrome is a general discussion in dealing with the impending Ragnarok or the ultimate destruction of our world, then the Light and Darkness can be a song depicting one of our particular ordinary but precious and dear everyday lives that may be lost in the imminent doom.
I also feel "Something Uneasy" that Flugelhorn Old Man in Japan commented on Robk's reaction to this MV. If this song was intended to make people feel the frustration of losing love/loved ones, only hats off to them.

i've seen them live - the band in large venues is at the back of the main stage - there are three circular stages that move and raise in the air . it's a very big production - sometimes the band is viewed the entire time with the girls . sometimes they are in the darkness for mood setting .

I completely understand your comment about showing the band more. They do have many videos that highlight the band, but I need to emphasize one thing. This project started in 2010 without any live band! The three women; including Yuimetal at the time, sang and danced to a backing track. The band was a later addition, due to their rising popularity, but they were still, “session,” musicians. To this day there have been numerous musicians that have performed with the group due to scheduling constraints. Please don’t misunderstand me. Every single one of those musicians is top tier, but they are support and not technically a part of Babymetal. Although that description might offend some, as there is a core set of musicians, but they are still backup with their own projects. Just a little light.

Did Babymetal form on their own or were they put together by an agency?

    • @michelm.6033
      @michelm.6033 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@TwoToeTags They actually started as a sub group of the J-Pop Idol group Sakura Gakuin. That was a, “manufactured”, Idol group for women between the ages of 10 and 15 that was centered around a school theme. That theme had the roll of promoting J-Pop, but also teaching the women/girls about the entertainment industry. They were focused on music, but also taught dancing, modeling, acting, etc…. Babymetal started as the sub group of the overall Idol group as the Heavy Music Club. Suzuka Nakamoto was specifically selected for her talent and stage presence. She had been in the industry since age 5 and professionally at age 10 when she was selected as an singer for an Anime group called Karen Girls, formed to produce music for the short lived anime series. She was a founding member of Sakura Gakuin at the age of 10 and she is now 25. Eighty percent of her life has been involved in the entertainment industry and many of her family members were also. In short their origins could certainly be considered manufactured. However, their success is a collaboration between one of the largest talent/music producers in Japan and the women. In short there probably wouldn’t be a Babymetal without Amuse Talent, and Amuse would be far, far less profitable without Babymetal. If that didn’t answer your question, from my knowledge, give me a more specific question and I’ll find the answer for you. If I can’t answer it I know many encyclopedias of the Band. Enjoy

    • @TwoToeTags
      @TwoToeTags  ปีที่แล้ว

@@michelm.6033 That answers it perfectly. Do you know who writes Babymetal's music?

    • @michelm.6033
      @michelm.6033 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@TwoToeTags I can get you the answer, but it is in short a collaboration of numerous writers, composers, lyricists. Some of their band members have been credited with writing some portions, Suzuka has actually been credited with writing the lyrics (at least in part) for their recent release Monochrome (wait! Maybe it was Devine Attack - give me a second). They have collaborated with at minimum Dragon Force and Polyphia. They have taken inspiration from Metallica and X-Japan. They have actually toured, or opened for Metallica, Dragon Force, Bring Me the Horizon, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Korn, Judas Priest, Lady Gaga, Arch Enemy, and many, many more.

If you haven’t heard of them, I’m sure they’re up your alley and performing in the US for two weeks starting today. I’m going to 4 of their shows. I see you have reacted to another of my favorite bands, Lovebites. That group and Nemophila have fairly deep connections to each other and to Babymetal. I’m still a huge fan of Babymetal.
