    I still use my iPhone 4 in 2022. I don't use any social media at all, so using it just for iMessage and Facetime is perfect for me. I love it. It's small and simple.

    I think the iPhone 4 and the 4S is cool. The iPhone 4 got ruined on iOS 7 but the 4S is slightly better (or worse?) on iOS 9. The closest i might get to a iPhone 4 or 4S is a iPhone 5 i might get.

    I think the iPhone 4 is a cool device. Wish I had been able to use the older iPhones back in the day. The closest I’ve gotten is my iPhone 5 that I got in 2020 when my dad dug it out of a drawer it had been sitting in for a couple years, and set it up for me.
    I’ve actually held an iPhone 4s, which had used to belong to my aunt, but the phone was so totaled (on the front) that a piece of the front glass had fallen out, revealing the interior, and the screen was held together with strong scotch tape. Needless to say, the poor phone didn’t work. Although the back glass and camera were strangely unscathed.

    I really wish companies would just support all devices ever made cause its not impossible they just get paid by companies like apple to keep people buying the new phones they have

    • @falcondragonslayer
      @falcondragonslayer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is impossible. You think an iPhone 5, with 1 GB of RAM, and an A6 processor would be capable of running a modern iOS? The software itself would max out the RAM. And even iPhones like the 6s, which just lost Apple Support last week (on iOS 16, they still have iOS 15) would struggle to run iOS 16 because the RAM is too low, and the processor and battery are too weak.
      But I do think companies should have security updates for all devices. Apple has shown a tendency to push an update to iOS 12 if there is a major security risk, like with Pegasus or with the same WebKit patch that was fixed in iOS 15.6.

    The purposeful decreases in performance on iOS 7 is planned obsolesce

    • @JoBot__
      @JoBot__ 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It wasn't purposeful. It was Apple giving the customers what they wanted, at a cost the consumers weren't aware of. iOS 7 may run poorly on this hardware, but that's just because of how iOS 7 works. Apple believed that the tradeoff of speed for more app support and a more modern visual style was worth it. Similar story for iOS 9 on A5 devices.
      I highly doubt planned obsolescence was a factor in these scenarios, but I don't deny that it was ever a factor. I think the battery-based performance throttling seen in newer iPhones is definitely an instance of planned obsolescence.
