One to add that came from Get Up and Game was to take the Cosmic Entities and add them to the encounter deck as 0 boost, owned by the encounter deck. It’s a great way to add ease into harder scenarios to give some tempo shift in the encounter card revealing
Great breakdown! A cool future video idea would be to pair each seperate "hero pack modular set" with a villain that utilizes that modular set to the villain best ability to crush souls. 😂 It would also just nice to find homes for those random mod sets to fit thematically or in a challenging way.
One of my favorite things to do with hope summers are: • Reveal her side scheme during setup (it also makes Next Generation slightly harder) • get hope out of play but still shuffle the side scheme. If it gets reveal, you get her
Thanks for this kind of video. I play a lot in Heroic mode to increase difficulty for the strongest heroes (I prefer a challenging defeat over an easy win). Sometimes I use Longshot to mitigate the 2 or 3 encounter cards every turn in heroic mode. For sure Infinity Gauntlet is good to increase the Villain difficulty with minimum impact. Actually I think the "bonus modular sets" (as you presented them) are a very usefull, quick and pratical solution to change the difficulty level and the variety of a scenario.
Thanks for this thoughtful video. Your analysis and general thoughts on the game are much appreciated. What I think works about this format here is that you are not just tier ranking cards or offering sweeping claims about the state of the game or how a certain scenario works. Rather, you explain specific dimensions of each encounter set and how they work and then how you prefer to use them. On the plus side for me, you also as a result avoid making negative or dismissive assessments that seem all too common on youtube. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I can't comment on other TH-camrs but, even when I do think something is negative (which I do feel compelled to say), I try to recognize its positive values too. Love making this kind of video too
Excellent video! I hope many players will watch it and try a couple of things with those modulars. Setup modulars are the best kind, as they are guaranteed to change the game.
I love this, especially as an easy way to help someone start mixing modulars or adding modulars. This makes it accessible to start doing that. Do you have a favorite setup modular to add to a scenario?
Picking a favorite is so hard but probably the Infinity Gauntlet right now! The superpower ones from Mister Sinister are close though, I just maybe used them too much recently 😅
😂 that’s fair. When they came out, they were great to add everywhere, but definitely with you that the infinity gauntlet is a great way to give an all around challenge because it does it all
I absolutely love Age of Apocalypse!! It is a little more difficult than most expansions but generally very manageable. Love the heroes and villains from it a lot!
Great video! Excellent breakdown on all of these! I’d also consider Osborn Tech and Future Past in this category. Osborn Tech is all Surge and Future Past is all Victory keywords. These type of Modular’s are great to mix up the play experience and add more challenge for “weaker” villains. I’m currently planning to try Risky Business with Osborn Tech, Streets of Mayhem, and Sinister Syndicate.
You say dont choose hope as your only modular set, as it only adds one card to the encounter deck. The rules for Next Evolution actually state that the Hope Summers set *doesnt count* towards a scenarios modular requirements, so this wouldnt be a valid option anyway: "The Hope Summers modular encounter set can be used with any scenario, but it does not count toward the number of modular encounter sets required to play the scenario."
Great shout, I had absolutely no memory of that line but it makes so much sense for them to include it. I had to look it up and they say the same for the Longshot modular from MojoMania. Very glad to see them doing this as historically (e.g. Power Stone or Infinity Gauntlet) it's not mentioned.
What's your fav setup/bonus mod set? 😁
Super Strength / Telepathy / Flight!
I really like the Hood modular set ransacked armory, streets of mayhem because of the more “city like”/ “heist” theme.

I love voltron-ing Hope Summers, although we haven't done it in a while. We always play with Longshot tho, in the deck.
I played with the 3 sets from mister sinister the most, but I need to revisit all the ones from Age of Apocalypse soon.
Great breakdown!

Now this is my cup of tea videos! Thank you!!!
So glad! This comment is my cup of tea 😁
Hope Summers has really helped/added so much to my solo play.

Those are fun!

Really appreciate hearing from a heroic player! Glad you liked it!

Couldn't agree more!

Well, I know what I need to purchase next! Age of Apocalypse. Great video! I keep saving these videos into my Marvel Champions folder! :)
