- Browsing some PS1 games at Super Potato in Akihabara. Lots of games to choose from, old classics and obscure Japan exclusive titles alike. Pretty decent prices as well. Good stuff.

Thanks for teleporting us to Super Potato!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Love the Playstation hunt videos. This one was too short Jim! Need more! 😄
The PlayStation is such a classic console. So many wonderful games in its library. Great video bro, keep them coming my friend.
Nice set of PS games, I wouldn´t say no to Raiden Project for that price! The Rival Schools sequel seems very cool too, did watch your review of it.
It is indeed cool. Same awesome gameplay but with additional character and a ton of mini games.
Great video Jim! Many goodies in there, a PS2 Video would be fun to see aswell :)
PS One In my heart forever ❤
Thank you for upload video.
Love to see ps1 games always find something new. Giving more attention to ps1 because of you and Mr. Hapa😉
It's the gift that keeps on giving. Massive library of games, a lot of very affordable titles, very easy console to get into.
@@MadPanicGaming thank you master shoryuken for showing me the way👉📀
kinda miss this kind of shops back in mid 90s with full of ps1 stacked cd in a very very big game store in my town, now theres no more, only small game store in mall that mostly restaurant and cinema
Thank you dude for inspiring me to collect import games broadening my horizons in video games
That’s the thing amaze me about Japan is how cheap those older games are and you can come out with 10 or 20 games for cheap. While in American one ps1 game cost you 50$……….. used too.
The PlayStation is one of the few Japanese systems where collecting is not gonna break the bank!
Very true. I do A LOT of game hunting and PS1 and PS2 games are typically the cheapest and most abundant I come across.
I'm thinking, after finishing up my Starn collection, picking up some Playstation imports. Thanks Jim!
My pleasure. You know, whenever you're ready to start getting those PlayStation games, you can come talk to me. :)
Oh man you are in heaven.that's all my favourite games in playstation.what a memory.😍
What I would give if I could be there right now.... Super Potato, love the name!
Bro, I’m so jealous right now! What a dream store 🥺👍✨
The cover art for monster rancher is better than the NA cover art 😲
PS1 has so many great games. The prices in Japan are a steal!
It was nice to see some titles that I'd been looking for turn out to be very affordable when I was over there. Nabbed a ton of stuff, though actually not from Super Potato. The Super Potato in Akihabara was kind of a bust. It was hot, overstuffed with tourists, smelled like body oder. I scored all of my good finds in Japan from Marui Plaza.
Authentic Japanese body odour,. 🙄 👃 🤢
Yeah, from what I've heard Akiba isn't the best place to go to find games for a good price in the Tokyo area, but if you're into arcades it's definitely a good place to go.
I just picked up Panzer bandit and Gunners heaven ❤❤ Can't wait to play them! P. S love love you're channel!
Fantastic games. Enjoy.
PS1 is my favorite system. So many awesome games.
Yes and many genres
Noticed they also had Koudelka.
We don't have any store like this here in the States at all or anymore. Sad.
Thanks Jim for your awesome videos. Are the quality of the discs really good. I know over here in the states it's rare to get a flawless disc.
The discs are typically in good shape. The label placed on the front of the case specifies the condition of the disc, so there are no surprises.
@@MadPanicGaming that's sweet. Do I have to be a patreon member to get games from you or just a subscriber?
@@crazyoldschool6342 Right now I'm pretty much only shipping games to patrons. I've got quite a few so I try not to distract myself from that if I can help it at all.
Jim, I had contacted you about finding me a Net Yaroze black ps1 console in Japan. I would pay you a handsome tax on top of the price and would buy import ps1 games from you as well. Thanks man.
Nice Chuck Taylors!
Thanks! Pretty much the only shoes I wear anymore. I even wear them to work, lol. My students routinely wear more appropriate shoes than me. :)
Great video like always and what's the name or game of the music that is playing at the end of the video?
Thanks!
I just bought a PS1. Looks like a lot of good games to pick up.
My pleasure, thanks for watching! The PS1 is definitely one of my favorite consoles of all time. The library is massive and contains some absolute classics. Plus, it's still a very affordable console to buy games for which is nice when you consider how expensive some other consoles have gotten.
I know it wasn't popular in Japan, but I would love to see what the selection and prices for original Xbox games are at Super Potato.
Here in osaka area super potato and suguruya xbox section is really small in fact i dont even recall perusing it. Its just a fleeting thing you see for an instant as you pass. Though i dont know about Tokyo as there stores seem bigger plus the pLandemic has seen a few game stores and arcades here close.
I noticed Legend of Dragoon now that's a great game!
It is indeed, and dirt cheap.
Jim, what music isn that in ending?
Loved it!
I'd definitely love to collect more PS1 imports, although I think I need a good video solution for my HDTV? all those screen resolution changes my HDTV doesn't know what to do with it! also I don't blame capcom for the way the vs. PSX games turned out... there just wasn't enough RAM to do the series justice, I mean compare those to the saturn versions!
I'd recommend playing on a modded PS3 or using a RetroTink scaler.
@@legoboy-ox2kx ah ok cus I have a JPS2 but I might look into one of those as an option too
@@darktetsuya With a japanese PS2 your best bet would be a newer retrotink model like the 5x pro and RGB or Component cables. Japanese systems are still NTSC so they usually work with all NA cables, but I'd have to look it up for that system. Some systems can use the JP21 connector which is Japan exclusivw and outputs RGB usually, but looks like Scart.
@@legoboy-ox2kx ohh okay. cus I have component cables for my HDTV and PS2 stuff plays fine and lag free (I have two of the Japanese version DDR games and there's no lag as far as I can tell) but PSX stuff I only have one of the DDR games and it must use some weird resolution or something cus the game itself doesn't display just the menus and whatnot.)
@@darktetsuya most PS2 games output 480i or 480p over component, and usually HDTVs handle those resolutions fine, but most PS1 games output at 240p which on composite is usually fine but over component causes problems on newer HDTVs. Go check out My Life In Gaming's video on the PS2 and Retrotink scalers.
Wow that gear fighter dendoh is so cheap compared to eBay prices here. I have been trying to snag a copy reasonably and it’s wild to see how much even Japanese sellers upcharge when selling to the states!
Yeah, the sellers on ebay are chasing some crazy profits, like 200% or more in some cases.
the japanese economy is tanking and people are trying to get more valuable currency?
@@MadPanicGaming dendoh is like $60-90 on eBay right now so even more than that! Wild
Sooo many games!!
Super Potato staff - “oh great that weird gaijin with camera is back again”
Curious about the Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) games for both PS1 & PS2. Do they hold their value or are they more like these Final Fantasy, Rockman, etc? Thanks!
if only i can wake up the next day in this shop with 2000$ in my pocket!
Believe me, I'd love to have two grand to blow in this place too, lol.
Harmful Park is an extremely expansive game for The PlayStation. I’ve seen it for 800 dollars.
Nice
PS1 Final Fantasy 8 in Japan: $3.
PS1 Final Fantasy 8 in Australia: $50.
Retro game collecting is coming to a close.
I still keep my final fantasy 7 and super robot taisen, samurai shodown, gundam series in perfect condition ☺️, thanks dude for video anyway
Thanks!!! Could you make a video on prices Neo Geo aes , please!!!!!
I kind of did, with my "expensive games" video. Most of the AES games are behind glass.
@@MadPanicGaming Thanks , i love your videos!!!
Used marvel vs capcom ¥ 3200 ?!! 😱
Why ? Its not even limited edition
I can only imagine it's because it's less common, because obviously it doesn't hold a candle to the DC port.
Neat
wow star ocean second story only 180 yen almost free hungary here japan version price 30k forint it.s 10500 yen
their ebay prices are outrageous...smh
These prices are disgusting!
