This is such a great idea, but the gesture interface has been designed wrong in my opinion. As a pianist, I can tell you that you will never reach a high typing speed by having to jump through cords. This is like playing Prokofiev, but what you want is Chopin.
I think the way this could possibly work is by using both hands and using a cross-hand modifier system that is activated by the thumb. Here is an example. Imagine having a key on each of your 4 fingers. On the other hand you have 4 cords that can be held down with the thumb. These cords select the "row" for the 4 fingers on the other hand. So now you have 16 easily accessible keys on each hand. Giving you a keyboard with 32 easily accessible keys. Then on top comes the cordless thumb modifier, giving you another 4 keys on each hand. Plus 2 keys for thumb tap. Bringing the total up to 42 keys. Plus 4 unmodified keys on each hand, getting us up to 50 keys.
Don't forget, that's 50 keys where no cords are used on the actual input hand. Only the cross-hand is holding down cords, which are all just two notes of which one is the thumb. This would even allow to switch cords with the thumb being kept down.
I believe that such a system would allow typing speeds above 100 words per minute.

Both hands being required may help with keyboard functionality, but it hinders the experience in other ways. If you're an artist that is looking to draw with one hand and type of the keyboard on the other hand, or if you're simply a person that prefers to type with one hand, this design could ruin the experience for that person. On the other hand, although the typing may not be as efficient in the way it is designed now, it's still designed in a way that is kind of a jack of all trades so that anyone can use it as they prefer. The best solution is to figure out a way to do what you want it to do with only one hand. If you could find an alternative way of doing what you want to do by only using one hand strictly, then I think that would be a better solution.

What is not talked about is the air mouse gesture. I will totally buy it just for that if it accurate and intuitive.

This technology is so amazing and ahead of it’s time, it would eliminate so many barriers for AR/VR, and spacial computer, just wow!

really sick concept, I am currently designing a keyboard with 5 buttons so is simpler to build and code. All the ispiration came from the first Tap product you guys made

@@damianomotta1809 I think they’re shipping them the end of next month but don’t quote me because I’m not 100% sure, I’m a beta tester so they sent it to us before it goes to you so we can find bugs, etc…

That little comment 'bout how the main piece could be attached to a smartwatch has a LOT of convenience implications!

I'm a big fan of the tap strap (in fact I'm using mine to write this comment), and the TapXR looks like it should be able to solve the few issues I have with it. The problem I have is I'm skeptical that it has a decent mouse mode. Air mouse on the strap is a bit clunky and hard to use, and it's hard to tell just from this short demo if it's any better with the XR, and I'm not sure I'd even want to use even if it improved. If this "linear mouse" mode functions like the optical mouse on the strap, great, if it has improvements like real click and hold even better, but that has yet to be demoed. I really want to want the XR, but until Tap shows that the mousing experience is at least as good as the strap I'm staying away.

How do you know where the letters are? Seems like a cool idea but with a learning curve.

Hi, ¿do you know if there is any way to make taps for the keys "control", "shift", "tab" and "alt", "fn", or maybe the key "windows" if used in windows?

nice product and this method may work with AI to type faster and auto completion method. instead of standalone tapXR , implement this concept in smartwatch will increase the use case.

Should have used mono audio for this video. Or adjusted it. It's a bit right-leaning.

TapXR is not responsive. I have to spam taps for inputs. Ive thought about giving TapTrap a try but since TapXR is the newer model, i refuse to spend my hard earn money on an older model. I will stick to my normal keyboard that GUARENTEE inputs in this very fast pace economy.

This seems like an AMAZING tool for SO many technological needs!! Reminds me of Microsoft's concept Smart Bangels in their Microsoft Productivity Future Vision videos from like 2015. I would love to test one for my new TH-cam and twitch channels! @TapSystems
