I am loving the Earth Wind and Fire Panasonic commercial at 8:26. It truly is amazing to me the lack of diversity in commercials over 40 years ago and today.
My aunt bought her best gold jewelry at Greenebaum's when she lived in Baltimore in the 1940's! I still have those pieces....a gold cross accented with a diamond and a topaz ring (her birthstone).
7:30 How did that crappy Datsun get stuck on that rock in the middle of the ocean? The voiceover guy actually used the term "beauty" to describe it, LOL
26:58 I suppose General Hospital's "rockin' doc Rick Springfield" is the same Rick Springfield who was a singer and released hit songs like "Jessie's Girl"(?)
Kind of an abrupt transition at 14:54--from a Dynasty promo to an ad for a refugee assistance program at a community college (which had a seven digit phone number--no area code necessary for a local call back in those days).
4:36 I'm pretty sure I saw the movie "Grease" (Travolta & Newton-John) in the theaters, as opposed to on TV. I don't think I ever got around to seeing "Saturday Night Fever", though (except little clips of it, in ads)--that movie came out at least a couple years earlier.
Man if that chick in the Pearl Drops commercial (6:18) was moaning and licking her teeth like that in the morning at my crib, I don't think I would make it to work very often.
0:30 TO 1:00 WHEN MUSIC WAS WORTH LISTENING TO NOW KIDS HAVE CARDI B AND JUSTIN BIEBER 😂AT 1:36 TO 2:03 LOOK AT ALL THE COOL SHOWS SPORTS THEY HAD NOW KIDS HAVE REALITY TV 😂😂😂
@tiffany curtis The music of that era was too "disco-y", though. I did like some of it, but it's not exactly what I would consider classic rock 'n roll (although it probably was better than today's music). And a lot of those TV shows were mediocre at best--Mork & Mindy, Taxi, Laverne & Shirley, Barney Miller, the Love Boat, Fantasy Island, the cartoons &/or The Muppets... I don't know if you were a little kid (or pre-teen to early teens) at the time--maybe this stuff "rings true" more for you than it does for me.
why did dynasty's second season not start until November? anyway, it was one of the corniest programs around but then again everything was back then. I guess we were doing more than our share of drugs!
There was a writer's strike that delayed that season's programs, leading to extra reruns, including mini-series and TV movies that aren't normally part of the cycle. The 1988-89 season was also delayed to a similar WGA strike, while 1980 had an actor's strike.
TV 📺 series . I was telling my daughter , years ago you couldn’t binge watch a show. You had to wait til the next week ! 😂
And if you missed it, good luck catching it on reruns because repeats aired randomly.
13:00 No payments due till February 1982?? Man, I need to take advantage of that deal right now! 😂

98 Rock and Channel 13. I used to tune in and I was in the DC suburbs.

0:30---Further proof that Disco WASN"T dead at the end of the 70s---K-TEL trying to keep that Disco party going!
Channel 13 - That's what friends are for!
im so old.
6:40 oh how I remember this as a teenage boy😜
21:48 A much younger-looking Ted Koppel, for ABC News/Nightline. (I'm not sure when that Nightline program started.)
I was 1 years old then! 16 days later, my sister was born 😡 😂

8:53 YEEEEEEESSSS?!
Lakein's of Hamilton still exist.
@4:48 YES!!! Maybe the best sequel in movie history.
WJZ IS NOW CBS
9:17 "OH!!!" So exaggerated but so funny 😂😂😂😂
Phenytoin - Is the medicine that was overlooked.

Panning do you have any commercials from Harrisburg PA from the 1980s
I miss certs.
They were just 20 cents at the time.
@@pannoni8449 yep!
I miss TIc Tacs---they were always sold right near the cash register at Safeway!
College courses on television. Precursor to the internet?

#TaylorSwift is good, though
@@Cjnw Taylor Swift is beautiful, but her music (what I've heard of it) is lightweight pop... Might seem cool if you're a teenager, I guess.

"I guess we were doing more than our share of drugs!" Speak for yourself, dude.
I love Dynasty
@@pannoni8449 1981 had a strike like 1980 had the actor's strike? WOW!
