I miss those days so much. Commercials had familiar jingles and wholesome acting. Not like today where everyone in commercials has to look like models and everyone has to be 25-35. Back then ordinary looking people were the norm. I used to enjoy the comedies on NBC, though my fave network was ABC, since the late 60's.
31:04 They sure played a lot of tennis in 80s television commercials. ;) 16:02 Peggy Taylor, one of NBC's best staff announcers. 27:24 Bob Landers, a great voice-over talent. 31:09 "And now we're up to our Long Distance Dedication..."
Casey Kasem also does the voiceover promos over the end credits of a TV show that is shown at the beginning, and also the primetime promos that follow. :)
23:52 The 1981 NBC Ident (with 1980-81 Proud as a Peacock music, this ident was possibly first used in September 1980, since the 1980 NBC Ident with the 1979-80 Proud as a Peacock music debuted in September 1979).
I went to San Diego right around this time to see my dad when he was on assignment for the Navy at Point Loma. We probably watched this show on Ch 39, but we got both SD and LA stations in the hotel where our family stayed.
Poor Schlitz missed the boat with marketing. If they would have had a bevy of bimbos, and some typical college frat guys featured in their marketing, they may have still been viable as a go to beer today. Sellinger in their ads just reinforced the stereotype that they're grandpa's beer.
Hard to believe that Real People seemed like a really cool idea back in the late 70s/early 80s when people were more easily amused--now it would be considered really stupid!
I want to run back to 1981 and stay there, forever
Can I come to!
I wanna run back to 1972 the year I was born but your right my friend anytime is better than now 🤦🏾♀️ stay safe bob😊
I turned 12 in 1981 and flew on a plane alone for the first time. It was one of the best years of my life.
I was 9 years old 😊 thanks for bringing old school people so much joy with this channel 👏🏾❤️👏🏾

@@michaelbass3865 Yes, Mr. American Top 40 doing the NBC promos. :)
Tennis was a huge thing then. The stars were household names...Borg, Ashe, McEnroe, Laver, Navratilova, Evert, Connors, Bassett, King...

I met my 1st wife in 1981 At a Bloomfield Hills Michigan party... Was the best time in my life.
We used those Byrds Eye sides a lot
Thank you for another great batch!
Lord have mercy Lynda Carter sure was a stunner even after her Wonder Woman days.😍😍😍
I was a senior in high school

"CHiPs" was a repeat of The 1980-81 Season Premiere.
I miss the 80s
6:16- Unsold hour-long pilot, featuring Doug Sheehan, Ilene Graff and Ray Contreras {and Jack Gilford}.
I miss Oldsmobile.
Joyce DeWitt's Undieleggs - a picture I wish I could unsee. A younger Beverly Archer pre-Iola and Mama's Family as the preggo craving a 7-11 Burrito.
Ben-Laden Bernanke Yep. She was in Major Dad
I seem to recall Joyce DeWitt always wearing pantyhose on Three's Company, so it wouldn't surprise me to see her in a commercial for pantyhose...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Janet from three’s company is just beautiful 😄
The day before my humble birth
I think the pregnant woman in the 711 commercial went to play Iola Boyle on Mamas Family
Yeah that definitely looked like Beverly Archer from Mama’s Family and Major Dad.
Some bloke tried to swipe Nixon's trash? Crazy?!
BJ and The Bear, heck yeah!
One of the Landers sisters on BJ and the Bear? Subliminal suggestion at its finest.
Taste my Shlitz.
Me: You dirty old man. XD
18:37 DO NOT GIVE CHOCOLATE TO DOGS! WTF?!

21:49 NBC News Update with Jane Pauley
Hal Douglas speaks for Kodak.
Joan Severance in that lipstick commercial
CHIPs! Heck yeah!!!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I love watching that show growing up 😃
Christie Brinkley alert 18 plus minutes in for Clairol shampoo

Huh? It was high end compared to today's crap like The Bachelor, The Voice, America's Got Talent...
Joyce DeWitt was a sexy knockout in the day. If I were a guy I would have picked her over Chrissy.
Agreed.
I was a Janet guy.
Pre-9/11 stuff.😎
