Orix gets scrutiny for not treasuring the Braves fans but the 1996 Championship was a significant achievement for the BlueWave because their hometown Kobe was devastated in the Great Hanshin Earthquake the year prior. Also their manager Akira Ohgi should be credited in this and the Kintetsu Buffaloes team video for developing Nomo, Ichiro and, Taguchi
While they carry the history and the lineage due to continuation, the Hankyu Braves died in my eyes after the merger along with the Kintetsu Buffaloes if not long ago thanks to how stubborn and arrogant Orix Group has been with handling the team. It's why to me, even as a Red Sox fan who has seen Masataka Yoshida join from the new Buffaloes, I have a hate for them because of what Orix did to the two predecessors of this one and was miffed when they finally were rewarded with a Japan Series win. If Rakuten has become the ideal new owner for an NPB team, then Orix is the inverse of that given how they've alienated fans in almost all of Kansai's big cities from the two previous teams due to their shenanigans. That said, it's amazing what the Braves accomplished in their time and making roads for foreign players in NPB. Awesome video as always, Gaijin Baseball. Can't wait for the Kintetsu video.
NPB's Gong Show (they did won the Nippon Series in 2022 as Orix Buffaloes)
5:52 I feel so bad for this guy man. Imagine having that many people intentionally trying to make you fail at a game you love.
On you bastard Buffaloes!!
Finally the Darryl Spencer cycle story is told lol
34 years later, Hankyu returned to NPB by completely ignoring their partners from Hanshin and inserting Okada back as Tigers' next manager
The ultimate plot twist.
(plays Yes you Win Hankyu)
ironically, this worked out.

Id love it if the team made some throwback braves jerseys
They have once or twice as far as I can tell, but yeah, I love me some Braves stuff, Boston, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Hankyu or Orix. ;)
Teensy nitpick: the National League Braves were in Boston at the time of Hankyu's name change. ;)
