Have to agree with Gus. I definitely don't a lot but recently he makes more sense than most.
2 weeks in a row the Tigers have been screwed by the refs, not saying we would have won.
Match fixing that’s why
You were screwed by the rules. The ref made the right call according to the rules in place
Try taken away at very important moments. After those moments, tigers went on to completely have no chance in the game. 🤷♂️ hard done by but it happens to everyone. We just unlucky af atm
@@dustinmartin6524 no, not the last game against the panthers, they missed a sin bin.
@@baccycones7644yeah that was a blunder, a robbery is a stretch but that was a mistake. This wasn’t
3:42 love you Gus 😂
HAHAHA YES! And 4:03 when he launches it off the desk 😂😂
Without Gus in the commentary, I'd probably won't watch this show but, somehow he's very exciting to watch and always looking forward at his opinions lol
If the powers that be keep changing rules everytime someone gets hert no game left ,there will be a rebel leauge !!! And they can have there touch football.
It's a game for men, first hitup is a test for a men.
decides the outcome really if u think about it
The biggest problem with the game is the ref in the stands calling ruck infringement with absolutely no scrutiny. It is called 2 or 3 passes later and if you rewind there is no infringement. I cant believe this issue gets absolutely no media attention. The game is open to manipulation and it lacks integrity.
Agreed, the ref stopping the game to blow a penalty drew focus to it and made them accountable... the 6 Again can just be pushed whenever and nobody ever looks into it, yet it's such an impactful thing in the game.
Gus is right
When was the last time there wasn’t a rule change from one season to the next???
Let the game run like before... that's real football.❤
I’ve slowly accepted all the other rule changes but if they take kick offs out of the game then I am done. I would not hesitate to never watch again.
Gus should be an NRL mascot. Or an anti-bunker campaigner.
Feed em Gus
Gus got in one package..our game is stupid..😂😂
This is crazy. It’s a contact sport. How can you take away one of the best parts of the game
So glad I only have to watch Nine for 4 games a year
If they get rid of the kick off, I won’t watch
It’s not the real fans that want these changes. It’s the part-time fans.
Its the families of players that want the changes. Why would part-time fans care about the players long term health?
Hard to figure out where Gus sits on the Api try.
Best episode of Old Man Yelling at Television ... ever!
good on you Gus
amen gus
You are spot on Gus. 😂😂😂
Thank you Gus!!!! LEGEND!!
If the NRL is concerned about potential concussion on kick offs then they need to be just as concerned over the impact of big collisions with sides 10 metres apart, surely the impact was less woth sides 5 metres apart.
Whenever Gus says "Don't get me started!" he's fuming!
Bulldogs getting sued is just the beginning. Every ex player with cte will end up suing the nrl and the game will be gone.
Simple fix - in every contract it stats you understand the risk of playing this sport and you cannot sue for injuries gained during your career.
@@Dirtmcgirt22exactly
@@Dirtmcgirt22That becomes a legal nightmare. You can’t legally get an 18 year old to sign that, and even if you could it’s morally and ethically wrong
@@dustinmartin6524 They could go to independent contractors like the UFC, but then the NRL can't keep them on a leash. Can't have it all I guess
@@thestoicwhingeras long as the game can prove it did all it could to prevent head knocks, any lawsuit will be turned down. The lawsuit would be for reckless endangerment, by taking measures as extreme as banning kickoffs it’s proving to any court that the organisation has undergone extreme efforts to reduce the risk of concussion
Yea gus
The team that puts the dropout out on the full has to hand over the ball and dedend a set of six on their own 10m line. Thats much worse than 7 tackles from the opposition 20.
The NRL are “stupid” for issuing a breach notice. Bringing the game into disrepute? How “stupid” is that interpretation!!!
love Gus !!!!
The game needs to be adjusted in the light of evidence about continual head injuries. Perhaps institute a "safe catch" option restarts the game from the 20m line if the ball is caught behind the goal line. If it goes dead start from the 10m line. If dropped, play on..
Well said Gus,
Couldn’t agree more with Gus and gal
The rule changing isn't for the Men to continue.
The rule changes are designed for the women's growth.
NRL is the canary game, used to tinker here & there.
WNRL is their real goal, more money, more sponsorship. signed, the accountants.
100%!!! And a lot of men these days aren't real men. There are too many showboaters and soft individuals that are paid too much money.
thats the nature of contact
Can't blame Gus, he knows what the game has gone through.
Jwh best forwoud in the game to easy for him.champ of a player will be missed all the best champ
Best forward in the game is that a joke
Just saw this! Gus is 110% on the money!!!
He just went full Gus on them
Never go full Gus
Rarely agree with gus but goddamn him talking about the players know what they sign up for was absolutely beautiful
My thoughts for quite awhile have been no more than two defenders per tackle.
With all the breaks in the game should they also look at reducing the interchange again to introduce a little more fatigue?
Nope
Why not apply the standard general play rule whereby if the receiving team catches the ball on the full in their own in goal area then they get a 20m tap. The team kicking off will ensure this doesn’t happen by kicking shorter. Therefore shorter run up for both the ball carrier and the defence and in turn a lessened collision. Where is there a problem with that? This wind up from 50m (or more) apart is very new in the game. It didn’t happen when Gould played. A kick off landing in the in goal in those days would be allowed to bounce and roll dead leading to a 22m restart. As it is currently is actually somewhat repetitive and very predictable. You would not be adding a rule but eliminating an exception to an existing rule.
soon it will become a touch footy
Paul and guz are real.. our game will end up like basketball and netball!!.no disrespectful to both sports but it's ending up no contact..why don't they listen to the legends instead of clowns.
Simple solution make a rule that two players can go in for the tackle at kick off and that’s the only time this rule takes place
Gus is right on the money 💯💯💯
Why not put actual players in charge to make the rules, or at least be a form of Jury who decide whether rules can be made, altered or removed.
Yes that was a try😊
They don't tackle around the legs anymore.
I totally agree with Gus...
I have to asked this question to Gus, does he think the administrator continues to tinker with the rules and the game will be evolving to more of a touch or grab footie?
That's why I only watch highlights.😅
Gus doesn't go "nuclear", infact he goes very normal and very valid 💯 !!! I said it before, one day tackling will be illegal and we'll all be watching touch football lol 🤦🤣
Gus calls out on NRL rules is ruining the game I agree with him 💯
The players and coaches need to stand up to the NRL, boycott 1 week at a time till refs are held accountable and fundamental rules stop being changed for football politics.
Unfortunately if we stay with the status quo the lawyers get involved that a duty of care isn't being followed for player welfare. But come to think about it if it was an issue wouldn't they have been involved already?!
Have you not been watching trends?
Damn. The NRL has been meddling with the rules and where has it got us?
Sold out stadiums.
Where’s the sold out stadiums other than origin and Suncorp?
@@Jackomac well, for example, Manly has played 3 games at Brookie, all sold out. Not something that happened in previous seasons. Sellouts have also been reported on tv at other grounds.
@@canwelook so what, there’s only 18000 seats at brookvale 😂
True story
@@Jackomac and those 18000 seats were far from filled before these changes
Try and explain the game of rugby league and it’s rules to someone who has never watched it! You’ve got absolute Buckley’s!!
Gus is right. I’m at the point I don’t even care about watching my own team let alone any other NRL match! The game is killing itself and I’m just about gone. Best I might do is watch these vids occasionally
Make them wear head gear before you go changing the game
It's a fallacy. Head gear doesn't protect the brain. The NFL has proven this.
Go Gus. 100% correct. Even my Victorian mates admire the first hit up of Origin. Oh, and Tigers have been robbed two tries in two weeks.
Gus says the game is being torn apart by everyone except the coaches and players , however last week he was blaming high class coaches for influencing rule changes , for us that watch these guys and listen to them for the game we love , then i am starting to second guess these has been players
GET RID OF THE SCRUM!
What will happen to boxing if we are talking sports,
A lot of us fans on social media are against this bs as well and actually stand up for the game and the players, so berating all people on social media and acting everyone in the public is dumb, does not help your cause.
Went to the Warriors last weekend. The Bunker ruined the first half and almost ruined the game. If a Ref gives three 6 again to the same team then next one should be a penalty and bin. No more than 3 in a row. There I said it!
This rules has cost tigers downfall a lot
This is the last time I gonna say it's leadership regarding rules in 24 no team should be punish from head office can the stockbrokers powerbrokers players clubs refs have a summit and scale back look at 100 percent footy the rules have sent the rugby league media loopy a vote for leadership is a must
Leave the game alone alright HIA is already tearing my hair out …
It's simple. Maximum 2 tacklers except when defending the line.
* good enough to beat 2 = should be rewarded
* unable to defend with 2 = should be dropped
All the rules recently added to manage gang tackles, wrestling, etc become essentially irrelevant. E.g. No need for ball stripping rules, much less opportunity to slow the play-the-ball, etc.
Gould and 4 officials settling into their seats, missed a blatant elbow to the head, first tackle, simple as that! Biggest thug in game walks again, JWH.
Are they ganna take it out thru all he grades now? It's so stupid, the players have known the risk since the first time they hit the pitch. If anything it should be upto the players who are out there, not these ppl watching from the comfort of there couch
Kickoffs another story made up by reporters who never played who wont leave it alone until the nrl does something
Totally agree with Gus. That's why we love rugby league. It's a tough physical sport and it requires physically tough players to play this sport. We cannot just change the fabric of the game to accommodate players who are not physically fit to play the game. This sport is not for everyone. Just like we have boxing, wrestling and UFC, every player knows what they are signing up for and their safety on the field is their own responsibility. Let's stop this non-sense already.
Gus speaking for most if not all fans of the game.
Especially the Api try, feckin’ robbed.
Not even a Tigers fan.
you are clearly not even an nrl fan, no way in the world has that ever been a try. the reason for so much carry on is because so many casual fans have recently started watching and don't understand the rules correctly so they go off half baked sooking about it.
This exact thing happens multiple times a year and is consistently a no try and no body knows any different.
The tigers were not "robbed" they were flogged by a competition heavyweight, its that simple
If ex players didn't sue the league then changes wouldn't have to be made. When these guys sue then rules have to change.
JWH hit Suli with a elbow and thats what knocked him out nothing to do with the kickoff
Gus is absolutely spot on. The game is being picked apart far too much and the kick off "debate" shouldn't even be one - no way should it ever not be part of the commencement of each half - IT'S FUNDAMENTAL TO THE FORMAT OF THE GAME. And yes absolutely ridiculous the Api got that try denied - that is a try ever since the beginning of rugby league.
I’ve given up watching NRL this season for the first time since 1978…sick of the changes, it’s unwatchable
Dragons players fault on that one and besides Dragons did well on the other 12 kick offs they did
If they change it I'm out. Stop destroying the game
All of the clubs need to put there foot down and go on strike
No teams to play=no NRL
I don't necessarily agree with it, but the kick off will be gone in a few years. Might as well get used to the idea.
It hurts me to say it but I agree with Gus, too many rules … the game is slowly migrating to tag
I can’t stand Gus, but I 100% agree with him. Ive been playing this game all my life and even I wonder what some of the calls are.
I also use to play and Watch Rugby Union as a schoolboy. I remember explaining rules to a lot of people that had never played because it was so technical and people stopped watching for that reason.
Rugby league was simple to follow. Not anymore. They are destroying the game.
By the way, bring back the biff
For the record, the correct decision was made. Tigers weren’t robbed of anything, the ref made the correct call according to the rules. IMO rules that need looking at again, but nonetheless it wasn’t a robbery
And I’m on the fence about kickoffs. It’s something the NRL desperately has to research and brainstorm ideas with the players and fans. I’m not saying ban it, just explore other options and see if anything gets a positive reaction
you know nothing then
@@pooddly9637 you want to elaborate or?
@@pooddly9637 yeh, tell us what you know...
Is a pass a bobble that will b next, if ya reach out for a try th ball may separate briefly but still b in control as hand catches up an forces fairly, that was case for decades,if it aint a knock on its a damn try like it should b,gee I despise our Bunker Poms r light years ahead
I can't believe I actually agree with Gus. Seeing him that peeved off is how I feel every minute of every game. They've destroyed the game with so many ridiculous rules. Bring back 80's footy I say.
Hargraves always leads with the forearm
he is a deadset dog shot merchant, he dog shots players and when they want to confront him he hides behind teammates. but rather then suspend the sook they will just change the rules.
Its easier to do that then listen to Robinson whine all year.
100% agreed with Gus and Gal, leave the game alone, if you dont like it go and officiate another game, maybe soccer will have you...Good on you Gus and go Gal.... i used to love this game, these days i tolerate it.
The game i love is no longer here. LEAVE OUR GAME ALONE.
At this rate the game is heading toward being like glorified oz tag
Going to start my on league called xrl it will be based on the old school rules, start poaching secondary clubs ref makes all the calls no bunker no review just calls made on the spot
Xtreme Rugby League
I've been a rugby league fan since i was a kid in the late 80s, and i can honestly say the game has gone soft. Too many rule changes.
If they get rid of the kick off its goodbye nrl simple as that
Gus just got a 20K fine and a formal breach notice for speaking basic truth.
THIS GAME IS STUPID.
Rop out drool
Just play touch and flag lol
Explain how 17000 people at Campbelltown stadium who didn’t get a replay showing the so called no try ???? The referee signalled and blew the whistle for a try, 17000 people cheered as the tigers were back at 10-6 only to have the bunker 54km away take the try away on a replay that was never shown at the ground …… and the nrl thinks this is ok and a great game ??? Give me a break,
I think Gus accidentally hit the nail on the head when he said the game is stupid. Rugby League is stupid, it’s dumb fun entertainment and they gotta stop trying to turn it into something complicated and boring.
The gold old days blocks😂 back in the day they were too slow so no one get hurt by the game and so they just beat each other up too make the game look tough😂 Put the rabitohs now against the grand finalist of back then, rabitohs will flog them.
