The Best Cornrow Tree Braids - Do It Yourself

  • This video shows you how to braid your own cornrow tree braids. I like cornrow tree braids because I find them versatile and easy to take care of. I like that I can get to my scalp easily and my hair is in a gorgeous protective style at the same time! This is the hairstyle that I had just before shaving my hair bald two years ago.
    I used 3 packs of Free Tress Deep Wave hair. The colors were color 4, 27, and 30, I think. Some of them were left over from a previous braid so I am not 100% sure.
    I cut each pack in two and elongated the hair so as to get a natural tapering look at the end. It took me about 5 hours to do it myself.
    This video is about my struggle with my 4C hair and the start of my hair journey.

    I like it.. turned out great...This is better than crochet when it comes to silky hair because you will not have worry about it slipping out😊

      That's exactly why I did the tree braids. I tried crocheting with that hair and it slipped out like crazy!!

    Hello and thank you for this wonderful video, I do my own tree braids as well and I appreciate your skill in doing the edges separate great idea and I will be using it. Also you did a great job, your hair turned out full and elegant. I will also try the brand. By the way can you share what type of curls they were?. Once again thank you for a great demonstration.

    Very pretty! Gonna check out Breanna Rutter's again. I'm going to try on the perimeter of my hairstyle. I have crochet braids in middle. Do the cornrows keep the waves from tangling? The lighter colors seem to tangle easily. I use Bobbi Boss ocean wave hair.

    Please What did you do at the back, I mean the tail end of the braids?

    • @Strive-2-Thrive
      @Strive-2-Thrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joined all the tail ends of the braids into one. So I ended up with one braid at my nape. Then, I and tucked it under, using the crochet instrument. After that, I added more crochet hair on top of the single braid so that it would be hidden. So when you touched it, it felt big at the back because of the single consolidated braid. HOWEVER, if you didn't touch it, you couldn't tell because it was covered by the crochet hair, so it just looked like a lot of hair LOL!!!

    how many packs did you use and how many cornrow do you have and how long did the hairstyle last... you did a great job!!!

    • @Strive-2-Thrive
      @Strive-2-Thrive  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yolanda Martin Hi Yolanda. I used 3 packs but the hair was very long so I cut each pack into two. I had about 20 braids at the front but I joined some of them together at the back so that the back wasn't too crowded. So if you looked at just the braids they looked like may Ys. every two braids coming from the front joined together when I got in line with my ears. This hairstyle lasted me 5 weeks. The hair was great BUT my part grew wider and wider as my hair grew. I have a video coming up to show you what it looked like.

    Do you cut the hair before you start or leave it long

    • @Strive-2-Thrive

      Hi Patrice Holden
      - I cut the hair in two and then I fray the blunt ends so that they look tapered. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on my video!

    How did the hair hold up? Did it shed and tangle?

    • @Strive-2-Thrive
      @Strive-2-Thrive  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ms Black I use this hair all the time because it does not shed or tangle. However, it does get stiffer as it gets older, after about 6 weeks. I don't comb or brush it. I only finger detangle. Check out my update after 4 weeks in this video th-cam.com/video/r2-KNjBA-D0/w-d-xo.html
