@pedrofribeiro he is right it was indeed flagelot or whistle register, basically physiological pedagogues ascertain that women do have falsetto, remember falsetto is a TONE of modal register, so if this was not full voice {modal} then it has to have been female falsetto, and are you forgetting Mado Robin who is still debated if it was whistle. Also she is being miked, and a strong whistle near a mike can sound louder, since it is being amplified. Read more about it you will see it used in opera!
Her notes are completely off. She masks it with some comedy but those absurd notes are strangled in the throat. Also, the vibrato is being pushed too much and it begins to sound caricaturistic.
hm how old is she? she is so fantastic. i wonder how someone with such an amazing top can have such a beautifully full low/mid range. its really superb.
@pedrofribeiro You can clearly hear that she changes the timbre completely when she is doing a cadenza and that part where she goes all the way up to c7 is not full modal voice. Just listen to Dessay in Ombre Legere and you can hear how she stays on the same "track" all the way up to High A-flat.
FadoPrimavera full modal voice is the speaking or Chest register...no one can sing more than an octave above middle c in chest or full modal voice. Women sing in head voice so maybe you meant she sang it without a full tonal resonance....
That's the only way to sing that high, IMO, so not exactly something wrong with it being whistle register (considering many sopranos don't sing above the C an octave below).
She’s fantastic!
Thats not whistle register, whistle register isnt that loud, that is pure modal & head voice and that talent is crazy
Not head either, it’s flageolet
Returned for another listen! I saw her live in Philadelphia and is a memory I'll carry with me to the grave. She was WONDERFUL.
EXCITING! Thank you for this video.
I love this lady. She makes me feel happy. Love her high notes... so therapeutic

Brava! That was great!

Her acting is great. The "la la la" kind of remind me of Erna Sack.
BRAVA DIVA

She is born in 1973 ;) Really great, as well when she is playing the violin!

This was during a competition and that morning she woke up with a sore throat. She ended up winning anyway....
@pedrofribeiro I AGREE, THEIR PACING, AND SENSE OF MELODY IS LACK-LUSTER! SAD, AT LEAST HER SINGING IS CHARMING ENOUGH TO GET US THROUGH.
a true goddess!!!!!!
Ela me lembra a Erna Sack..........
A strong whistle note, I would say, but impressive. I thought it was C#

what is the point of adding the high note if everything sounds ugly and the registrations are completely broken because of it? horrible
Whistle register.
what a painfull version!
