Tallulah Gorge: Georgia's Best Whitewater Kayaking Destination
ฝัง

- There is no other kayaking destination quite like the Tallulah Gorge. Boaters from all across the Southeast and beyond flock to this whitewater kayaking gem each spring and fall. From towering canyon walls, monstrous waterfalls, gigantic rock slides, to the dark corners, the sunny pockets and the continuous world class whitewater - the Tallulah Gorge has it all. Oceana is the main attraction - and understandably so. Oceana is the biggest rapid most kayakers will ever see or run. From the incredible stairs into the gorge to Tugaloo Lake, this has to be Georgia's best Whitewater Kayaking River. Come along as @WadeHarrison @DownstreamV's Matt Wallin, @GoodDadBadDad's Justin Culbertson and I make our way through this spectacular place...from the seat of our kayaks.

Yeah buddy was awesome to end the last release with you thanks for making the rally! Always a blast being on the river with you..
Now let’s hope the winter rains hit while I’m in FL so can we get some natural flow again 🤩 and do some more videos like this great edit!
Yes sir! Lets do it again soon! Im going to start doing rain dances soon! LOL. Thanks for the rally!
Can we please appreciate how well Justin is doing on his PFD? This is some smooth riding, skipping and boofing. Very nice to watch!
Oh yeah! He crushed it. However, I am not surprised, he is a fantastic paddler...that is how he always paddles.
This Justin's mom, and I just want to say this was so much fun to watch! Great job on the video. We used to take Justin kayaking when he was pretty young, and after a bit of a scare one day when his kayak tipped over, I thought he'd never want to kayak again. But not only did he take it up a few years later, he has become (imho), a great kayaker! And mom here feels so much better when he is with a great bunch of friends who exercise safety when having loads of fun! Thanks Pete, for all you do to bring nature's beauty to the forefront, and making all this possible.
It is a River King mom! Thank you so much for the kind words! First of all, you did a fantastic job raising your boy! He is good people, great company and we have always had a blast whenever he is with us. As for the safety, we all look after each other and I always feel good knowing he has my back as well. Thanks for bringing a fantastic human into the world and for taking him kayaking when he was young!
Freaking awesome videography! Some of it felt so real I needed a towel after watching those runs at Oceana! Oh wait.... 😂
Thanks Bob!!!
Great film and music selection! Brought back my Tallulah memories from 20 yrs ago !
Thanks Ckelto! Thats awesome!
Met Justin in Linville Gorge this past week! Really enjoyed talking to him! Justin - if you ever see this - it was great meeting you and your family! - James
Right on! I will pass it along!
Hi- This is Justin's mom (Susan). It was a pleasure meeting you and your friend last weekend at Linville Gorge area. So glad you all have this whitewater kayaking thing (and nature appreciation) in common-such a nice group of folks all around.
Loved chatting James! Hope we run into each other again some day!
What a fantastic river!
I agree pedromacd! A fabulous place to experience!
I just did my personal first descent over the weekend and it was absolutely incredible. This was actually the second real river I’ve ever ran and I started kayaking this summer lol.
Right on Jonathan!
Oh Pete, you just keep knocking these videos outta the park! Wow! Loved the multiple cameras, and the boof-to-drum track sync up had me smiling ear to ear…Beautiful water, epic paddlers…. Great Video Pete!
Thanks Carey!!! You just HAVE to sync those boofs to the music! LOL
Great video of my most favorite place on the planet. even the ultra schmaltzy narration is great and always makes me laugh.
Thanks jamjowa!
That Zet is so quick! It really makes me think of a Ferrari on the water. Cool video.
Thanks! We miss you, buddy!
sorry I missed this video when it dropped, the time change throws me all off. Looks like such a perfect day on such a gorgeous whitewater run with good friends and even better scenery, nerves just mean you are alive, enjoy those too. ;-)
Thanks MountainHobbit!
If you get the chance. Do the gorge hike, take in that scenery. They only allow 100 people a day. I wish I would’ve seen a group of kayakers going by lol.
I will have to do that sometime!
Cool to see Justin on here! I knew him and his dad from scouts.
Right on!!
Pete,I live in the middle of Kansas no whitewater here thank you for the honor of living through your eyes, sincerely Kevin Baxter
Thanks for coming along Leon!
Yes, it’s very important to have a good nutritional set up. The exercising weightlifting, etc. feeds off the food you eat so to get more gains from it you have to eat properly and often depending on what you’re wanting to do.
I know chad...I was just poking fun at myself for being...more..."rotund" than I once was...LOL
@@RiverKingsKayak lol for sure.
Complex river ! 🤪
It is a fun one!!! Just the right amount of everything!

Great video, you guys looked like you had an absolute blast.
Indeed Michael! Thanks!
Never been, but hoping to do a road trip next year after my kds baseball season.
Right on Dejan!
Vary good video
Thanks @-3-D-!
Wow, very cool Pete!
Thanks STO!
Beautiful edit. You excelled yourself (on the water and in front of your computer). "Rejected" !!
Thanks bigpig!
Got to see Wilson’s last weekend, it was beautiful. Though I knew the run was short, was shocked at how short , and the water was reaaallly low, it was in real life. Is Tallujah similar it river length ( executing the lake take out)!
Wilson is 2 miles long and the Tallulah is only about 1.5 miles. So similar.
In the preview glimpse you said the entrance , last step I’m guessing, was one of your favorite places. Did not show it in premiere?
Why the edit, just curious.
Last step is the entrance rapid
Great vid and river Pete - but what's the purpose of the pool noodle in the boat? - extra flotation?
Thanks chesky!! You wrap the noodle on the cockpit rim and it saves your shoulder during the walk. Extra padding!
Nice, I'll have to try that. Thanks.
That’s a bold claim. Personally I’d never chose talullah over overflow…
I hear ya James! I think for the masses though, the attainability for this run makes it special. Most folks will never see and will only dream of running the stuff your crew is knocking out. Great paddling by the way!
@@RiverKingsKayak I see you’re point, I guess it’s only really got 3 other rivers to compete with (is conasauga in GA?)
Great run terrible state and local government and cops . Polk Co. Tn . Baby is way better
Sounds like a story there...
@@RiverKingsKayak yeah , but it’s too sad . Man I miss Tennessee and all those laps on the Ocoee. Good times. Real friends. I ‘m so bummed out living in Illinois is like a prison sentence compared to Tennessee
